Email from Jason Kenney’s office. Canadians please consider signing the petition.

My response to this was a bit kurt. I made the claim that since Canada has abandoned any vetting of new citizens, and since we hand out citizenship to all comers like candy at Halloween, we should at least remove it from those who show contempt for us, our culture and our values. But the better solution is to return to a pre-Trudeau system of only accepting immigrants and refugees that actually share our values and can live here for a period of time without ever using social services or commiting crimes, and willing to work in jobs where people are needed no matter what those jobs may be.

In any case, at least let us have this even if it is closing the barn door after the horse is gone.

From Jason Kenney’s office. Minister for Immigration:

Friends,

Thank you for contacting me. I always appreciate the valuable feedback I receive about the important work our Conservative Government is doing.

Yesterday during the House of Commons Immigration Committee the NDP started a bizarre filibuster to prevent MP Devinder Shory’s Bill C-425 from moving forward.

In other words, the NDP is fighting tooth and nail against stripping Canadian citizenship from convicted terrorists.

I strongly believe that anyone who commits a terrorist act has clearly rejected Canadian values and the loyalty to our country that citizenship requires. Most Western democracies, including Australia and the United Kingdom, already have the authority to revoke citizenship from terrorists.

A recent poll found that over 80% of Canadians support MP Shory’s bill and stripping Canadian citizenship from convicted terrorists.

The NDP is completely ignoring the Air India 182 Victims’ Families Association, Muslim Canadian Congress, Canadian Coalition Against Terrorism, and many others who strongly support MP Shory’s bill.

If you do not support what the NDP is doing and you believe convicted terrorists should be stripped of their Canadian citizenship, please sign this petition.

    Too little, too late? Sure.
But even a late barn door closure may prevent other horses from bolting!
