Former head of MI5 Dame Stella Rimington has called for British people to inform security services if they suspect their neighbours maybe extremists.

Dame Stella, who supports the Government’s controversial ‘snoopers’ charter’, said people need to be more alert because it is impossible for security services to spot every threat.

She called for a wartime vigilance and for people to be the Government’s ‘eyes and ears’ following the killing of Lee Rigby.

The 78-year-old, who was MI5’s first female Director General, said: ‘The community has the responsibility to act as the eyes and ears, as they did during the war … where there were all these posters up saying the walls have ears and the enemy is everywhere.

  1. What good is being vigilant when you are betrayed by your own government staffed with feckless, spineless, and lapdogs who grovel to the Islamist demagogues? The bleeding heart liberals created this mess and now do not have the courage or the political will to do a damned thing about it except to call for ‘calm’, issue the usual BS and pompous bluster, and persecute UK citizens who dare to speak up.

  2. Looks quite similar to this one (“caps” emphasis mine), doesn’t it.

Maiduguri: The Nigerian city gripped by insurgency
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-21764675
“Since 2009, northern Nigeria has been gripped by a bloody insurgency as militant group Boko Haram continues its quest to overthrow the government and create an Islamic state. Visiting the Boko Haram stronghold Maiduguri is dangerous, so a BBC reporter filmed with a concealed camera to reveal what life is like for citizens caught in the crossfire…

BOKO HARAM’s MEMBERS ARE SO WELL-EMBEDDED IN THE COMMUNITY HERE, THAT IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW WHO IS BOKO HARAM AND WHO IS NOT…

The bloody insurgency here has left hundreds of children without parents. Without any welfare protection, those not taken in by sympathetic relatives often end up on the streets … And as Boko Haram widen their campaign by kidnapping foreigners to reflect their wider regional ambitions, it seems there is no end in sight to the conflict plaguing the country.”

Is this how “labor and co” have envisioned the future of Britain and Europe?

  3. Looks like the cat is out of the bag. We are at war. The adherents of Mohammad are waging war upon us.

  4. “called for a wartime vigilance”. So the head of the internal intelligence service thinks Briton is in some sort of state of war.

“She said further terror attacks on the UK were inevitable unless the country became a ‘police state’.

But it’s already a police state. It’s just that it’s an incompetent police state.

My oh so hilarious snark aside, the problem is that this is a new kind of military strategy. The population was sent in first via altered immigration policies. They peacefully and normally settled – then the enemy set about turning it into a guerilla army.

The problem is clearly military but because it’s exploiting the fact that civilized countries don’t normally deploy the military for internal military or police purposes – so it’s dealt with by the police who have a zillion other things to do.

This problem is only going to get worse until we can figure out the specific people and networks who are organizing it and kill them. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT MEAN CIVIL SERVANTS – they were duped by the enemy.

  5. In James Bond the head of MI6, M, is played by Judi Dench. That is Hollywood.

What will the 4th estate (the press), HollyWood & the intelligentsia (an oxymoron) think about the words for the real life female MI5?

Judging from the films the Sum of all Fears, Red Dawn and Olympus has fallen, they will not like Rimington’s comments.

  6. Vigilance will do nothing if the Government is going to refuse to protect the people, the more that people call in to report suspicious people that then commit acts of terror without the government bothering to check out the reports the sooner some political party that will protect the people will be elected.

Yes Islam is at war with the west, I just wish more people realized this.
