Council vetoes flag of St George after concerns raised about links to Crusades

A more accurate title would have been: ‘Council votes to remove actual flag of England because of potential objections by a mere 16 muslim residents of the town”

The Telegraph:

A local council decided against flying the flag of St George after concerns were raised that it would offend the town’s 16 Muslim residents.

Eleanor Jackson, a university lecturer, said the red and white symbol could cause upset in Radstock, Somerset, because it was used during the Crusades 1,000 years ago.

The Labour councillor voiced her concerns at a meeting called to discuss which flag should be purchased to fly atop the town’s repaired civic flagpole.

She said: “My big problem is that it is offensive to some Muslims, but even more so that it has been hijacked by the far right.

“My thoughts are we ought to drop it for 20 years.”

Radstock Town Council, which serves a local population of more than 5,600 residents, eventually decided to purchase a Union flag to fly on Armistice Day.

  1. I’ve been waiting patiently for the “flag of St.George” is offensive story to emerge in England. This is the first time I’ve seen it referenced.

How long will it be before their leftist enablers will start saying we need to change the English flag? You watch…I hope they do, because people will go BALLISTIC!

  2. ‘Intellectual exchange’, WoK, you are joking, aren’t you? If this suppurating pustule of a barely functional human mind even manages to muster two neurones you may be assured they are not connected.

There are only two ways to deal with such half-witted, Marxist-Socialist Islamofascist loving retards: one involves a baseball bat and, not surprisingly, so does the other.

Mind you, if the patriots of Radstock (if any) each purchased one of these ‘offensive’ flags and displayed them all over the parish that might make a less than subtle point. But, then again, as they elected this thing in the first place such communal flag purchasing might just as easily end up with the parish awash with plain white flags interspersed with the black flag of Jihad.

Personally, a plague on all of their houses; if there are enough of us left with the balls to do it then the only answer really is “Goodbye, and do give my love to the virgins.”

  3. So if the flag of St George is no good to only 16 out of how many resedents why don’t the others hold regular Al Raya burnings to express their displeasure until such a time as the 16 bugger off to an islamic ghetto in some town or city? 16 today probably means 2 or 3 households, nip the problem in the bud I say. Next year it could be 6 households and house prices dropping.
