  1. From the BBC Live coverage page :

The Chechen president, Ramzan Kadyrov, has commented on Instagram:

“We have previously expressed our condolences to the people of the city and the people of America… Any attempt to make the connection between Chechnya and the Tsarnaevs, if they are guilty, is in vain. They grew up in the US, their attitudes and beliefs were formed there. It is necessary to seek the roots of evil in America. We wish recovery to all the victims and share the feelings of sorrow.”

  2. Report: ‘Boston bomber could have been deported’

One of the brothers suspected of carrying out the terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon faced deportation in 2009 after being convicted of a domestic violence charge but was allowed to stay, according to a government watchdog.

“Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the 26-year-old killed in a wild shootout with police, was a legal U.S. resident who never the less could have been removed from the country after a 2009 domestic violence conviction,” Judicial Watch reports based on an unnamed source.

Judicial Watch pointed out another coincidence: the other suspect in the bombing, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, received U.S. citizenship on September 11, 2012, the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and the same day that terrorists attacked the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya.

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer mentioned that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev received citizenship in September, but he didn’t mention the exact date.

  3. Dead Bombing Suspect Traveled to Russia, Spent Six Months Out of US Last Year

Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the Marathon bombing suspect killed Thursday night in a shoot-out with police, traveled to Russia last year and did not return for six months. Travel documents show he flew out of New York’s JFK for Moscow on January 12, 2012. He returned to JFK on July 17th.

The purpose of his extended trip abroad is unknown. It is also not known if he spent the time in Moscow or traveled to another destination. Authorities are interested in the possibility that Tamerlan received terror training while abroad.

Tamerlan immigrated to the US as a refugee in 2003. He became a “legal permanent resident” in 2007. He was an ethnic Chechen, but was born and grew up outside the region in southern Russia.

  4. Allen West: Can we investigate radical Islamic terror now?

Former Florida Rep. Allen West issued a scathing statement on his Facebook page Friday, in response to the ongoing manhunt for one of the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings.

“Let me be very clear. The terrorist attack in Boston and evolving events indicate we have a domestic radical Islamic terror problem in America,” he wrote. “No more excuses. No more apologies. We are in a war of ideological wills and we shall prevail.”

He also recounted previous congressional attempts to hold hearings on radical Islamism.

“When Rep. Peter King attempted to have hearings on domestic terrorism, he was attacked for being racist,” Mr. West wrote.

He said: “We must no longer allow the disciples of political correctness and the acolytes of the Muslim Brotherhood (CAIR, ISNA, MPAC, MAS) to preach to us some misconceived definition of tolerance and subservience.”

CAIR stands for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. ISNA is the Islamic Society of North America. MPAC is the Muslim Public Affairs Council. And MAS is the Muslim American Society.

  5. Hospital Denies Involvement In Leak Of Grisly Post-Mortem Photo Of Boston Marathon Bomb Suspect

A grisly post-mortem photo of one of the suspected Boston Marathon bombers appears to have been taken early today after medical personnel turned the body over to law enforcement officials.

The image of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, began circulating online this afternoon after it was posted on popular web sites like Reddit and 4chan. The source of the photo remains unclear.

In an interview, Dr. Richard Wolfe, chief of the hospital’s emergency medicine department, said that he had seen the photo, but stressed that the image “was not taken during the medical procedures or when the medical team had control of the body.”

While Wolfe said that he would be greatly concerned “if it was a health care provider,” he flatly added that, at no point, did hospital staffers photograph Tsarnaev’s body.

Wolfe said that after Tsarnaev was pronounced dead, his body was moved to a “non-clinical area” where custody of the corpse was turned over to law enforcement officials.

The graphic photo shows gunshot wounds to Tsarnaev’s body as well as a large thorocotomy incision on his chest. Additionally, portions of Tsarnaev’s face and right shoulder reflect a discoloration that Wolfe termed “purplish lividity.”
