Well. Democracy in Libya is going well now, isn’t it?

H/T Magic Martin.

At this time I would like to point out that democracy has pretty much bugger all to do with voting for stuff and everything to do with the nature and structure of the institutions of government such as ‘justice’ etc. Don’t watch if you are squeamish.

  1. Democracy doesn’t work unless you back it up with a constitution to prevent nutjobs from deluding the masses and turning everything into a tyranny. The founding fathers of the United States knew this.
Or you could say, as Geert Wilders put it, democracy only works in countries with strong Judeo-Christian principles.
Without the safety net that a Judeo-Christian constitution provides, democracy becomes a Periclean disaster – at first you have rule by the rabble, which is eventually stamped out and replaced with rule by the despots. Then of course democracy disappears altogether.
Muslim countries are unsuited to democracy. Democracy is wasted on them.

  2. BTW you gave us a warning not to watch this video if you are squeamish.
How about an ‘Allahu-akbar’ warning next time too? That sound is one of the most irritating and annoying of all time. I can deal with blood and guts, but this juvenile repetitive rant of a retarded Mohammedan makes me want to puncture my eardrums with a red hot poker!

  3. Even with a written Constitution you get nut jobs deluding the voters, look at Obama and 99% of the Dems in Congress they don’t care about the Constitution and most of the people who vote for them don’t eith4er.

  4. Richard: That’s true, but if even a constitution can’t safeguard the people then think how vulnerable a democracy is without one. It’s the difference between safeguarding your home with locks on the doors and windows. Sooner or later the thieves may get in, but an unprotected democracy is like having no locks and leaving your front door wide open. The U.S. constitution protected freedom for two centuries, Libyan democracy lasted two months before the thieves broke in!
Besides constitutions only work if the people let them. If the U.S. constitution had an amendment saying that revisionist history was not allowed to be taught in schools then it might have been more secure.
It’s not that constitutions don’t work, it just means that the U.S. constitution (brilliant though it is) is not actually perfect!

  5. I agree with you on that, and I think Britain should have a written Constitution rather then a series of laws that a new Parliament can change, the written document gives is a rallying point for our resistance to the leftist tyranny.

  6. Funny how all that smacking makes them super duper hungry for one of those aloe snackbars. Well I don’t feel the least bit of sympathy. Next time eat something BEFORE you head out for one of your little voyeuristic BDSM street soirees. And if you were hoping to get more than a few token Youtube “thumbs ups,” you’ll definitely want to add some music to the performance. Preferably something with a good hard beat. Alternatively, a hot girl doing the smacking would probably work pretty well too. But obviously not if you wrap her in one of those ugly garbage bag tent thingys.
