Church offers prayer space for Muslim community

It still stuns me that no one asks the question as to why Muslims seem to have to have space everywhere they go for their political and ‘religious’ activities in highly inappropriate locations. A university for example is not a mosque. Neither is a school and certainly not a church. One of the speakers at least admits albeit accidentally, that a mosque is ‘much more than a place to worship’ and ‘multi-faith’ does not mean sitting around admiring the similarities in religions but to advance the Islamic agenda.

  1. OT – Norway : Norway’s Cup of Tea National Movement to Fight anti-Muslim Racism!

The ‘Cup of tea’ National movement was designed to stop the growing threat of racism against Muslims in Norway. According to the campaign, there was a growing distrust and distance between the native population and the immigrant Muslim community in Norway and the divide was growing by the day. Now this is not unheard of in recent times, especially in the post 9-11 world.

But what IS unheard of is the way they dealt with the problem. A local organization working against racism came up with a wonderful solution! Most of the misunderstandings they realized were born and indeed grew because of the lack of communication between the two communities. So they invited the two groups to meet over a cup of tea. Literally! And the result has been a significant decline in anti-Muslim attitudes.

No one would have thought it possible, but a cup of tea did put an end to racism in the country, orr at least curbed it to a great deal.

What it also did end up doing was the fact that it brought people together and made it easier for them to get to know each other rather than guess and speculate or worse, listen to others’ versions of each other. So, in every way The Cup Of Tea national movement was very effective in fighting prejudice.

Now isn’t that the way to do things? We hope all the problems can be solved like this. Who knows, maybe if we try, they can!

  2. OT- Ireland – Mega mosque in Dublin

Plans for Ireland’s biggest mosque have been given the go-ahead by Dublin City Council for a site in the north of the city. The six-acre site in Clongriffin will be able to cater for up to 3,000 Muslims during festivals.

One condition of the planning permission is that there is no call to prayer audible outside the complex.

The development will consist of a three-storey domed mosque with minarets, a conference centre, primary and secondary schools [ madrassas ] and fitness centre with swimming pool. The mosque will cater for around 550 people for Friday night prayers but up to 3,000 for the festival of Eid.

Local Labour TD Sean Kenny said the vast majority of people in Clongriffin were in favour of the development. He said he was glad that concerns about noise, parking and access through the site have been addressed.

The planning application was made by a group called The Dublin Welfare Society and it is believed that a benefactor from the United Arab Emirates is funding the project, which is expected to cost at least €40m.

The site, which is situated between Father Collins Park and Clongriffin DART station, is owned by developer Gerry Gannon and had been empty since the collapse of the property market.

  4. Islam is the antithesis of Christianity, and being a form of Satan worship, allowing Muslims to use a church for prayer is an act of blasphemy.
