H/T Martin for this one.
This video would appear to be Syrian rebels threatening and posturing in front of a pretty big missile. It would be quite interesting to know what kind, who made it, and where was it from?
If it happened to be from the Libyan arsenal then that might tell us a great deal about why Obama gave the stand down order at Benghazi. Also if it was US made.
And now this one : SYRIA – Savage Freedom fighter lashes a civilian wiht a whip for supporting Assad –
according to google translate, the title of the vid means: Storming missile battalion in Alafteras BRIVE Damascus 8 11 2012
All I can tell you is that they are short range.
I am not sure, but it look like SA-5 type of thing.

As said, short range and 1960 technology. Pretty useless without a ramp and a skilled crew.
Don’t forget the US made repeated trips to the Moon with 1960s tech, and destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki with 1940s tech. Low or obsolete tech doesn’t mean ineffective tech..
@ Richard.
It`s more than pushing a button and pray. The short video don’t show whether its a launcher or a transport system the missile is embedded in. Furthermore its a rather complicated fuel system.
But yes, it is potential dangerous, especially for bunch of religious fanatics who don’t have a clue what they are doing.
My guess is that they have about 10-15% chance to actually launch that thing and about 50-70% chance killing them self while doing so 🙂
Depending on who the group is I would put the chances higher that they can launch successfully, Hezbollah and others are daily launching rockets of similar tech into Israel.
Always overestimate the enemy capabilities, that way you don’t get unpleasant surprises.
Santor says: SA-5 type
Agreed and Libya did have them.
My problem is when Osama oops I mean Obama starts supplying them larger equipment
