The Australian embassy in The Hague, at Carnegielaan 4, is a model of the functional blandness that dominates the Dutch city. An effort has been made to replicate a traditional steeped roof but it barely mitigates the sterility. On most days, a row of bicycles sits outside the front door, a very Dutch touch.

What has been taking place inside the bland exterior of that embassy during the past six weeks is the opposite of Holland’s famous liberalism. An unfolding act of cowardice has been cooking inside the embassy. It is a calculated insult to the Dutch government.

Six weeks ago, the leader of the Party for Freedom (PVV), which until recently held the balance of power in the Dutch parliament, applied for a visa to visit Australia. His name is Geert Wilders.

Members of his staff and security detail were granted visas after three days. Wilders received nothing. He is still waiting. The Dutch media are waiting for the insult the Gillard government appears to be preparing for a member of the Netherlands’ parliament.

  1. I’m surprised Aussies haven’t dragged a few “politicians” out of their offices and lynched them in the public square over them allowing this illegal immigration to continue on a daily basis when they have the mechanisms to stop it but not the inclination.

  2. Gillard is a coward and a traitor. Wilder remains a hero. Turning down a visit from one of the finest politicians of our time only reflects badly on her. You’re welcome any time in the States, Geert!

  3. Yes this is a national disgrace and embarassment for us Aussies. The Leader of the Libera; National Party, Gov’t Opposition, Tony Abbott follows me on Twitter. I shall message, or rather tweet him personally to intervene here. This situation is outrageous!

  4. Good idea, Lloyd. Someone needs to confront this multi-cult trash about her censorship of ideas not included in her little red book.

  5. Its all over the info he has on the mustards that might hurt their feelings and the leftist bleedin heart will have to go and see their shrinks to have a cry …..for goodness sake let this man in he just might be able to open some eyes that have been closed for so long.
