A Pakistani minister has offered $100,000 to anyone who kills the maker of the online anti-Islam video that has launched deadly protests across parts of the Muslim world.

‘I announce today that this blasphemer, this sinner who has spoken nonsense about the holy Prophet, anyone who murders him, I will reward him with $100,000,’ Railways Minister Ghulam Ahmad Bilour told a news conference on Saturday, to applause.

‘I invite the Taliban brothers and the al Qaeda brothers to join me in this blessed mission.’

A spokesman for Pakistan’s prime minister said the government disassociated itself from the minister’s statement.

While many Muslim countries saw mostly peaceful protests on Friday, fifteen people were killed in Pakistan during demonstrations over the video.

People involved in the film titled ‘Innocence of Muslims,’ an amateurish 13-minute clip of which was posted on YouTube, have said it was made by a 55-year-old California man, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula.

Nakoula has not returned to his home in the Los Angeles suburb of Cerritos since leaving voluntarily to be interviewed by federal authorities. His family has since gone into hiding.

Your comment got me thinking a lot. Why doesn’t INTERPOL deal with exactly that while many reports do indicate that INTERPOL is assisting in crimes of a non-secular nature. So I went to their website and lo and behold, the very top post is the following:

    http://www.interpol.int/News-and-media/News-media-releases/2012/N20120918quinquies

INTERPOL’s Constitution forbids it from undertaking any matter of a predominantly political, military, religious or racial nature

LYON, France – There have been media reports that Egyptian authorities have ordered the arrest of certain US-based Egyptian Coptic Christians for their alleged involvement in the production of an anti-Islam video and that the Egyptian authorities purportedly will use INTERPOL channels to seek their arrest.
As of Tuesday 18 September, the INTERPOL General Secretariat headquarters is not aware of any request from Egyptian authorities seeking the arrest of any individual wanted in connection with the production of the aforementioned anti-Islam video.
Were such a request to be received, it would be reviewed by INTERPOL’s Office of Legal Affairs to determine whether it violated Article 3 of INTERPOL’s Constitution which forbids the Organization from undertaking ‘any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious or racial character’.
INTERPOL’s mission is to support each of its 190 member countries in combating all forms of serious crime, but only if it can do so in compliance with its Constitution, rules and regulations.
Therefore, while certain conduct might be illegal under the laws of any particular INTERPOL member country, any request for international police cooperation via INTERPOL channels to seek the arrest internationally of a wanted person, must be in compliance with INTERPOL’s Constitution, rules and regulations.

Well this is hopeful. Maybe things aren’t quite as bad as we are sometimes led to believe on at least that front. I still have questions about the Saudi arrested for Blasphemy in Indonesia though, apparently by INTERPOL.

I’ll see what I can find out.

  2. I think the the West should stop giving aid to Pakistan.
Those Moslems became even more intolerant and more violent as they grow horribly richer.

  3. This bloke is the Pakistani railways minister. He recently said of the railways, “Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia don’t have railways, why do we need them?”. No surprise that the railways in Pakistan are on the brink of collapse.

    Genius.

  4. “Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia don’t have railways, why do we need them?”

They should also ban antibiotics as it is the work of Christian nations.

  5. While many people live on less than a dollar a day in Pakistan, this man has $100,000 to spare for the murder of a US national for the crime of exercising his first amendment right! Little wonder he would have a problem with freedom of speech, he has done well out for himself of the blasphemy law thus far

  6. Perhaps those moslems live on one dollar a day because they want to save up lots of money to dominate unreasonably and to murder our western freedom.
