PARIS — Dozens of young men rioted in a troubled district in northern France after weeks of tensions, pulling drivers from their cars and stealing the vehicles, and burning a school and a youth center. The police department in Amiens says at least 16 officers were hurt by the time the riot ended Tuesday, some by buckshot.

At the height of the confrontation, 150 officers – both local and federal riot police – faced off against the young men throughout the neighborhood. There were no arrests.

“The confrontations were very, very violent,” Amiens Mayor Gilles Dumailly told the French television network BFM. Dumailly said tensions had been building for a number of weeks between police and the impoverished residents, whom he described as “people who are in some difficulty.”

  1. Let me see, “one of the 15 most “troubled” areas in France, a large gang of male “youts”, car-b-ques, innocent people dragged from their cars, high levels of damage & violence, no arrests…..smells like muslims to me.
You’d think these “purveyors of the facts” would have the balls to do just that, but they don’t, they’re cowards.

  2. More on the recent Violence in Mulhouse

“. . .incidents began after the arrest of two turbulent youth in the neighborhood Bourtzwiller. While police tried to control two young men of 16 and 17 who were pushing a scooter, they were attacked by other neighborhood kids. Victims of stone-throwing, the police then used their gum-bangs to clear.
Shortly after the arrest, other young men threw stones and incendiary subject on the nearby college and burned a dozen cars. Calm returned to the middle of the night, after arriving at the scene of a riot police unit.
A miner injured during the clashes was placed in custody, accused of failing to comply and throwing stones. Another miner and a third youth aged 20 were arrested on suspicion of throwing projectiles at police.” “This is not the first time that the city of Mulhouse was the scene of urban violence. Several incidents between police and local youth have been reported since the early summer. A fire patrol called to a car fire has recently been the target of projectiles.
At a press briefing in the afternoon, the mayor of Mulhouse, Jean Rottner, blasted those “police presence embarrassment” and called for calm. He added: “I ask parents and adults who have an influence on the young to seek appeasement” .

  3. Only “intolerant bigoted racists” refuse to enjoy chaos and mayhem. Can’t they see how “youthful” these “youths” are, how passionately committed to the cause of “social justice” ?
Their riots bring so much more “diversity” into our “progressive multicultural society” ! The scale of destruction and violence indicate how “culturally enriching” and “vibrant ” the “local communities” are.
