A 51-year-old man has been arrested for shooting at a mosque near Chicago while hundreds of worshipers prayed inside.

David Conrad, from Morton Grove, Illinois, used a pellet rifle to fire multiple shots at the Muslim Education Center mosque neighbouring his house, just after 8.30pm on Friday.

One of the shots narrowly missed a security guard stationed at the place of worship, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Police later seized a ‘high-velocity air rifle’ at the man’s home.

Nearly 500 Muslims were praying inside the mosque at the time of the shooting to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan.

  1. Not shooting at a building he couldn’t. An air rifle can’t do any damage at all to a building. Even if you are 2 inches away.

  2. He lived next door to it. I imagine this was a long time brewing. I wonder at his choice of weapon. What was his wish?

  3. I’m pretty fucking good with a hand gun too, or at least I was until the law changed
this was in my youth tho…..

  4. It depends on the air rifle, some can be modified to a 1600 fps velocity so they could kill within 50 yards if you hit the right place, hitting a building would do nothing.

Illinois has some nasty gun laws and he may have lived in Chicago which has even nastier ones, so cut him some slack. I will check with a friend from that area and see what I can find out.

  5. E.L.D. – Three out of five’s good,all you need now is a willing friend,i’ve a funny feeling there’s a big Q.starting to form.

  6. Sorry couldn’t find anything more, my friends agree that either he wasn’t serious or that was all he could get.
