One of President Barack Obama’s top security officials has briefed Israel’s prime minister on U.S. plans for a possible attack on Iran, it was claimed today.

National security adviser Tom Donilon sought to reassure Israel that Washington is prepared to act militarily should diplomacy and sanctions fail to pressure Iran to abandon its nuclear enrichment programme.

He met premier Benjamin Netanyahu during a visit to the country earlier this month, according to the Israeli daily newspaper Haaretz.

  1. Love the photo, so over-shopped, especially the baby rocket on the right… And that is AP? They will swallow anything!!

  2. Israel would be foolish to reveal any plans to attack iran to Americans as long as hussein is still in charge. I doubt the Israelis were stupid enough to divulge anything to them.

  3. Probably the only way to safeguard any plans today is to release and leak hundreds of variations of what you plan to do including plans to do nothing and so on. Im sure Israeli intel is comfortable with mis and disinformation campaigns. Either way, there sure is a lot of American hardware in the gulf these days.

  4. Eeyore you are right, the way the allies safeguarded the secret of Normandy was to release rumors of a landing at Calais.

  5. I forgot that one, one of the best disinformation campaigns ever run, the D Day location has to hold the record as the biggest disinformation campaign ever, it involved phoney tanks by the thousands, more phoney trucks and phoney planes as well as fake Army camps. Read up on both actions, they will surprise you, and get the movie on the man who never was.
