A senior US security official arrived in Israel on Saturday as international tension over Iran’s nuclear development reached an all-time high.

Tom Donilon, the US president’s top security aide, arrived in Tel Aviv on Saturday morning for three days of meetings with Israeli defence and security chiefs.
While Washington claims the visit is simply the latest in a series of “regular, high level consultations between the United States and Israel”, it came just days after coordinated attacks launched against Israeli embassies across the world provoked outrage in Jerusalem, which claims with certainly that Iran is responsible.
Israel’s option of launching a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities was expected to be the urgent topic of discussion during Mr Donilon’s visit.
Hours before he arrived Iran’s navy claimed its warships entered the Mediterranean to show its ‘might’ to regional countries.
In recent weeks, Israeli government officials have remained resolutely tight-lipped on their position on the Iranian threat but a string of high-ranking US officials have expressed the belief that Israel is preparing to act, with or without American support.
When an existential threat is leveled, anything less than taking our the threat is insanity. That is why for example, a police officer will shoot back if he has a gun pulled on him. The same procedure is the only morally responsible action – we are all expected to protect ourselves and it’s immoral for a third party to expect the threatened party to do nothing.
Jut to bring reality to clarity without risk of a conflagration, the US might want to be a little more direct and send their version of Neville Chamberlain for direct appeasement talks in Teheran, not Israel, see what happens, and then act accordingly.
Obama has made it clear that he is not going to attack Iran no matter what, my guess is that the envoy was sent to once again order Israel to refrain from attacking. Israel must attack soon hoping to gain time for a new President to be sworn in, one who will attack Iran and remove the nuclear threat.
The only nation in the Middle East that Obama will attack is Israel.
