Q: Is impersonating ‘Anonymous’ state sponsored terrorism? A: Sometimes yes it is.

 Honest Reporting:

Since its earliest days the “Internet gathering” known as Anonymous has declared “we are legion”. After attacks on PayPalAmazonSony, various banks and US Government websites, as in Roman times, the power of the legion is again feared.

According to some, Anonymous’ latest target is Israel, with a threat to systematically remove Israel from the Internet. The evidence, however, suggests this is far more likely an impersonation. Though only circumstantial, the evidence suggests the possibility of Iranian sponsorship. If so, this would mark the first effort by a state, or perhaps its proxies, to infiltrate and manipulate Anonymous into pursuing a government’s agenda. If that effort backfires, I for one wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end.

The allegations of an attack appear to emanate from a YouTube Video title “Anonymous Message to the State of Israel” released by TheAnonPress. In the video the computer generated voice declares “For too long we have tolerated your crimes against humanity and allowed your sins to go unpunished… You are unworthy to exist in your current form”. The anonymous voice goes on to speak of a “crusade against your reign of terror” which will start with a systematic removal of Israel from the Internet.

I did notice this impersonation of Anonymous as well although I am quite confident this one is not the work of the IRI. It was actually made as a response to the near blood-libel language of the now-exposed Iranian fake video threatening Israel. Good to know it is not Anonymous. My resect for them is now a lower negative number than it was before.

  1. Yes, you were rightly suspicious about that video… After all, as you noted, anyone truly fighting for freedom and human rights on this planet could not go after Israel without contradicting themselves…

Especially because Israel is the only country in the Middle East where:

    – There is a true, functioning democracy with equal rights for all of its citizens; and whose Supreme Court has had muslim Arabs on (as Khaled Abou Toameh has written, even if Israel treated its muslims as second-class citizens, they’d be much better off than any first-class citizen in a muslim country.)

    – Homosexuals don’t have to fear arrest and execution for their sexual orientation, besides the fact that Tel Aviv is the number 1 gay travel destination in the world.

    – Women’s rights aren’t threatened as they are in the other two Middle Eastern countries where there is no gender discrimination (at least on the books, that is), Tunisia and Turkey.

    – Electricity and water are supplied to the Arabs illegally occupying Judea, Samaria and Gaza, despite their sworn enmity towards Israel and their goal of annihilating it.

    – There is true freedom of expression, religious freedom, freedom of the press and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is genuinely upheld.

    – Black people are treated as full human beings.

    – The free exercise of skeptical thinking and inquiry, an absolute necessity for the true practice of science, isn’t made impossible by a Stone-Age mindset and/or concerns that “blasphemous” scientific findings might end up causing enormous trouble (and possibly death) to those behind them.

  2. My problem with Anonymous is their support for the Occupy nuts and other leftists, because of that I have very little respect for them.
