Lord Ahmed of Rotherham thinks halal should be made available as an optionLord Ahmed of Rotherham thinks halal should be made available as an option

The Palace of Westminster has rejected demands to serve halal meat in its restaurants.

Muslim MPs and peers have been told they cannot have meat slaughtered in line with Islamic tradition because the method – slitting an animal’s throat without first stunning it – is offensive to many of their non-Muslim colleagues.

The stance has infuriated some parliamentarians who have eaten meat in the Palace’s 23 restaurants and cafes, having been assured that it was halal.

Lord Ahmed of Rotherham said: ‘I did feel misled. I think a halal option should be made available.’

In 2010, the Mail on Sunday revealed schools, hospitals and restaurants were serving halal meat to unwitting customers.

Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Somerfield and the Co-op all said they stocked meat slaughtered according to Islamic tradition without letting customers know.

Fast-food chains including Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, KFC, Nando’s and Subway are also using halal meat without telling customers, it was revealed.

This bit from a comment by Anon below was so powerful I felt I should include it here:

  1. I’m glad that some parliamentarians have eaten what they have been believed to have been halal meat but wasn’t. The leftist machine of deceit has had others doing the opposite, so it’s nice to turn the tables. I can only hope that the Muslim MPs were fed pork!

  2. It’s about time Islamic practices are deemed as “offensive”, not just Christian practices. There is far more to be found offensive in Islam the more you learn about it.

  3. I cant believe that England would stoop to this level and make this monkey a Lord!!! My God!!!! What is this world coming to! I guess real Lords only belong in my novel books and monkey Lords now exist in England-what a shame!

  4. “It’s about time Islamic practices are deemed as “offensive”, not just Christian practices. There is far more to be found offensive in Islam the more you learn about it.”

It’s about time marxist/atheist practices are deemed as “offensive”, not just muslim practices. There is anything possible to be found offensive in marxist/atheism the more you learn about it..

just thought I’d add to your remark

  5. Eat Pork will have to be the slogan for the next decade

In Alberta 20 percent of beef is slaughtered by this method, Alberta being a huge beef producer, and where is it going???????????? not all is exported, and there is no legislation in Canada so that people can choose not to eat this psychotically slaughtered meat that possibly contains poisons that are a result of the slow and tortuous slaughtering methods, Why we appease these backward cultural practices is something that must be dealt with through government legislation.

  6. The slaughter houses killing all animals according to Islamic law is a growing problem in all western nations, this is the meat packing industry forcing all of us to live according to Moslem law. It is insulting to all other religions.

  7. Don’t we have here in Canada or the US laws preventing cruelty to animals? Where are all those animal rights groups ?

  8. Most animal rights groups like most human rights or environmental groups have been infiltrated and or taken over by far leftist organizations who use the ostensibly noble goal and earned reputations of the groups they run to act out a very different agenda.

Try and watch anything you can with the co-founder of Green Peace, Patrick Moore. He explains it well.

  9. “We are offended”… It’s about time. I sent this letter to all 50 heads of the National Pork Board in April of last year. Weirdly, not one of them responded. Maybe I will resend. Keep on trying.

We have a marketing idea we would like to share with you. We have read that the Pork Industry has recently changed it slogan from “The Other White Meat” to “Be Inspired.” We have also read about the glossy magazine al-qaeda is publishing called Inspire. We think you should advertise in their magazine. You have the union of slogans and any new consumers are money in the bank for you. You also don’t have to worry about the infamous muslin/pork sensitivity since the people and that publish and sincerely read Inspire are clearly the “radicalized” muslims. This could be, if not a win/win situation, a no lose situation. You will not lose any pork eaters from this tactic (who would give up such a delicious meat), you may gain and no press is bad press.

  10. That is very funny. Of course, buying add space in Al Queda magazines would of course be financing terrorism and no one is going to do that unless they want to finance terrorism.

I was thinking though, that if people were to actually label food in a store as halal when it is halal slaughtered and not labeled as such, it would be a very interesting and probably legislation changing event, when the person is arrested and goes to court.

  11. “would of course be financing terrorism and no one is going to do that unless they want to finance terrorism.”

Therein lies the rub. We are surrounded by slippery slopes on all sides.

  12. This inhumane and absolutely cruel method to kill animals in ritualised form is inimical to the traditions of Europe. The good and decent tradition, of not inflicting prolonged pain on animals, is one of the main features of a decent civilised society. Why? Because we show compassion not just those who can speak, but to the defenceless and the speechless.

This butchery has now become gargantuan in scale. We are now being fed Halal slaughtered meat against our knowledge. Our once civilised society has reverted to ritual animal sacrifice, and is quite literally swimming in an ocean of blood, as animals are slowly bled to death.

How did this happen? How did we allow it? Why is the RSPCA, an organisation that is up in arms over a few badgers, is silent while halal slaughter is all around them?

The idea of eating meat that has been ritually blessed by an imam whose religion calls for my slaughter, should be deeply offensive to any sane person.

History will judge us, and we will be found wanting, for we once were civilised, and knew good from evil.

  13. Halal is being dished up to all meat eaters, including the children in the schools and up until recently without they even knowing it! Non Muslims are being treated beyond contempt, particularly in UK. The spirit of nihilism runs rife, anything goes!
