TEHRAN, Iran — A senior commander of Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guard says the country will target NATO’s missile defense shield in Turkey if the U.S. or Israel attacks the Islamic Republic.

Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the head of the Guards’ aerospace division, is quoted by the semiofficial Mehr news agency as saying the warning is part of a new defense strategy to counter what it sees as an increase in threats from the U.S. and Israel.

  1. This is aimed more at Turkey then the US, Erdagon wants to be the new Caliph and so do the Iranian leaders. They are wanting a good reason to knock down Turkey and Saudi.

  2. Just like the Grand Vizier Iznogoud. He also wants to be caliph instead of the caliph.

  3. When and if the US decides to attack Iran, Iran will be able to do didly squat. Iran is much weaker militarily then Iraq Gulf War I. Iran will be crushed as Iraq was. All Iran can do is to pray and hope that the Americans decide not to enter Teheran and try the ayatollahs for war crimes.

Bear in mind that our strategic polity never forgets an act of war. Qaddafi was made to pay for Lockerby. And so will the ayatollahs for taking diplomatic personnel hostages.

  4. Maybe the Americans will not try the ayatollahs. But they certainly will leave them to the tender mercies of the mobs.

  5. I actually get impatient with Iran. Do something, anything. It seems as if all they ever do is talk. I am keen for the current regime to stay in power and further enfeeble the country through drugs, prostitution and wasting the economy away. They have done an excellent job so on all these fronts. DP111 is right in saying that this is not a strong a country as during the Iraq war. All the countries of the ME apart from the micro states are in a worse situation as compared to their peak following the oil prices rises of the seventies. Mismanagement and racist anger towards others have taken their toll on the economies and people of this region.

  6. Obama won’t attack but Israel is being forced to, what their are praying for is for their attack to delay the Iranians nuclear ambitions long enough for a new US President to be sworn in who will do something.
