TWO Brits have been killed in a bus explosion in Saudi Arabia.

The couple from Birmingham died as the coach made its way from Jeddah Airport to the holy shrine of Mecca, it was reported.

Another 70 passengers – also thought to be from the English city – were injured in the blast.

Mohammed Ajaz, whose brother-in-law witnessed the explosion, said: “He saw it all and said it was a dreadful sight.

“He knows some people on the coach and said everyone on it was from Birmingham.”

The Foreign Office have confirmed the death of two British nationals but it is not yet known if it was a terrorist attack.

A spokesman said: “We are aware of the deaths of two British nationals in Saudi Arabia. We are in touch with local authorities and next of kin and are providing consular assistance at this difficult time.”
