Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has been criticized by the Organization for Islamic Cooperation. His remarks regarding the threat of Islamic terrorism were not well received by the OIC who accuse him of stirring controversy.
The Organization of Islamic-Cooperation (OIC), which represents 57 member states as the “collective voice of the Muslim World” has criticized remarks made by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. During an interview with CBC News that aired on Sept. 8, Harper stated that
“The major threat is still Islamicism.”
Although the interview has drawn criticism from other quarters the OIC did not publicly comment until Sept 13.
As Harper spoke of the threat of terrorism he said that the Islamic radicals posed the greatest danger. He went on to say
“When people think of Islamic terrorism, they think of Afghanistan, or maybe they think of some place in the Middle East, but the truth is that threat exists all over the world,”
adding that Canada keeps an eye on home grown Islamic radicals.
The International Islamic News Agency reported on the press release issued by the OIC that stated the OIC General Secretariat was surprised by the Canadian Premiers remarks. A spokesperson said
“Such wordings from a head of government of a sovereign state were misleading and could create controversy.”
Stressing that Islam is a religion of peace and compassion the spokesperson went on to say “Prime Minister Harper’s remarks could only serve to accentuate the misunderstanding and suspicion between the West and the Muslim World and impede on the international community’s collective goal of addressing intolerance and hatred between religions and diverse cultures.
OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu denounced Harper’s remarks as likely to
“obstruct global efforts to counter bigotry and hatred between religions and cultures”
according to the Arab News. He also pointed out that member countries of the OIC were the main victims of terrorism.
Harper’s remarks also drew criticism from Hassam al-Adhal of the Muslim World League who opined that it will
“encourage Islamophobes to carry out more attacks against Muslim minorities.”
Adhal said the remarks would discourage Muslim countries from sending their students to Canada.
Meanwhile Harper and his government are committed to reinstating strict anti-terrorism legislation.
Oh, so a Western leader calls the truth exactly as it is – it is the most common threat to security and that cannot be reasonably refuted, and so that’s called “controversial”.
Meanwhile Achmadinejad’s constant ravings and incitement to murder another nation, and Erdogan’s provocations and incredibly hypocritical rants and tantrums against Israel elicit nothing but yawns from the OIC and shamefully the Western media as well.
The P-C-driven world has gone certifiably insane.
all muslims support the jihad, all the muslim pay tributes for jihad, for their fighter, their army. Every mosque are a army structure that receive orders directly from Saudi Arabia, and the Imã act as a comanders of a squadron os Moahmend army. What they call extremist, they are the soldiers of Allah, what they call guardians of mosques, they are the milicias, and the comum muslims are the people of Allah…and the islam is not religion of peace,..Islam is a Ideology of war……
One mans Islamic Extremist is another Muslims, moderate Muslim.
The basic gist of the matter is Islam is an abomination to anybody who is opposed to having Islamic jackboots on their necks. Not just violent extremism, but moderate mainstream Islamic doctrine.
Another politicians has seen the truth (maybe) now if he will do something besides run his mouth about the subject.
The Organization for Islamic Cooperation. There’s a mouthful title for an organization which is for the ‘Islamic Cooperation’. Mr. Harper tells it like it is and our freedom of speech allows him to do that. OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu should educate himself and wake up to the fact that the majority of terrorist acts have been committed by Islam fanatics. That is a fact. Mr. Harper is just stating a fact. Get over it and start denouncing some of leaders in those 57 Islam states your represent as supporting these fanatics. That would be a good start.
“all muslims support the jihad” should say, “most muslims ….”
I don’t think I need to list them but if you like that I will.
It can also get you out of a lot of ‘hate crime’ problems.
I think, ‘Islam requires it’s adherents to support jihad’ would be unimpeachably correct and avoid hate crimes charges.

Oh no, another outbreak of islamaphobia, this time in Canada. Wonder where is Shilary Clinton. At her last meeting with Mr Ihsanoglu, Shilary speaking on behalf of the US declared: together they would overcome the problem by enforcing anti discrimination legislation, countering offensive expression through education and public debate AND
“profiling hate crimes but not free speech unless there is an incitment to imminent danger”! [Resolution 16/18].
I mean to say, what more can they do. No need to despair. Why not just ask Dr Phil; some people would swear by him- when it comes to advise on phobias and such other psychosomatic disorders. Defintely he would recommend: to overcome a phobia get at the source, and be RUTHLESSLY HONEST about it.
Islam is the cause of islamaphobia, being more ideology[political] than a religion!
