Hamas Looks to Cairo for New Headquarters
Hamas co-founder Mahmoud al-Zahar says Hamas may relocate its Damascus headquarters to Cairo due to the widespread unrest in Syria.
Hamas co-founder Mahmoud al-Zahar announced Friday the terror movement is may relocate its headquarters from Damascus to Cairo. It is the first time a senior Hamas official openly admitted they were looking at a move.
“All the Palestinians in Syria are in distress, not just Hamas. There are many options in terms of the organization’s headquarters and Egypt is one of them,” he said.
Al-Zahar also addressed the possibility that other senior Hamas officials will return to Gaza and noted this depended on each of them personally.
“Gaza is open to all,” he stressed. “There are leaders who may return to Gaza and some may not. “
Perhaps Hamas are familiar with the burden of Damascus, which will see it reduced to landfill (Isaiah 17:1). Cairo might not be a much better choice (Isaiah 19:1).
They are moving because the Moslem Brotherhood is in firm control of Cairo, which means that Iran doesn’t have as much influence. Don’t forget the religious conflict between the different sects of Islam, they will seek to establish their headquarters in a city where a strong religious ally has control. If it is Sunni so much the better, if it isn’t they will move as soon as a Sunni stronghold is established.
Hypocrisy? The premier provocateur of chaos and anarchy in the Middle East, Hamas, doesn’t want to be in the middle of it. They want security. To hell with the “little people”, in Hamas’ eyes, the “slaves of allah” who do their dirty work and die for them.
