Abuja attack: Car bomb hits Nigeria UN building

I wonder if people are still focused on that Norwegian psychopath or if they have noticed a continuous set of brutal, vicious attacks on ‘soft targets’ before, during and since the lone Norwegian dirtbag killed those young adults at the political camp.

Abuja attack: Car bomb hits Nigeria UN building

The BBC’s Bashir Sa’ad Abdullahi says all of the glass at the front of the building has been blown out

At least 18 people have been killed in an apparent suicide car bombing at the United Nations headquarters in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.

The powerful blast destroyed the lower floors of the building. Dozens have been injured, some critically.

A spokesman for the Islamist group Boko Haram told the BBC in a phone call that it had carried out the attack.

UN chief Ban Ki-moon said the attack was “an assault on those who devote their lives to helping others”.

Speaking before Boko Haram’s statement, President Goodluck Jonathan reaffirmed his government’s “total commitment” to combating terrorism, and said his administration would “spare no effort to bring the perpetrators to justice”.

In Friday morning’s attack, a car crashed through two security barriers and rammed into the building’s reception before exploding, witnesses said.

  1. How ironic to see the UN’s chickens coming home to roost… Talk about poetic justice.

  2. The UN indeed does foster Islamism and is a source of encouragement, funding, authority and a cover for Islamic culture to be enforced on the rest of the world. But I very much wish the UN would just be dissolved and its authority revoked and maybe a new organization with the G8 plus India and Brazil or something like that should replace it. The 20 people who were slaughtered in that building were likely not Islamists and were indeed the victims of terrorism. I intensely dislike the UN and want it’s authority to disappear. But I don’t wish harm on any of the people there who do not wish harm on me.

  3. The UN is something more akin to a talking shop for Arabs and their concerns. Most of its time is actually spent thinking about the Palestinians. and condemning Israel. Despite this the Islamo Negro sees it essentially as a tool of the West when in fact it is a tool of his masters, the Arabs. Strange. It is an illusion. An illusion of race hatred fostered by the Arab for the West and boom! the Islamo Negroes attack the very thing that the Arabs use to foist their Well fed Palestinians and Islamophobia thought crime teeth on the our flesh.

  4. Well, it’s not like I wish harm on those people working to harm us, but I think that if they reap what they’ve sown, I’m not going to feel sorry for them. If, for example, Mona Sahlin were a gang-rape victim in Sweden, I wouldn’t celebrate that, but I would see it as poetic justice if she experienced first-hand the results of something that she has done her utmost to encourage through her entire political life.

  5. The UN was designed to take the place of the League of Nations, it grew out of the alliance to fight Fascism during WWII, its stated purpose was to prevent wars. Something it has failed at, now it has outlived the vast majority of people who supported it and in the long run is as dead as the EU. What I find interesting is that the Islamists are turning on the organization that has worked hard to ensure the continued existence of Islamist supporting nations. Does this indicate that the Moslem Brotherhood and the affiliated groups are ready to start taking on the world or has some group jumped the gun and moved before the leaders are ready?
