Woman’s leg broken, others hurt in Spring Garden mob attack

Here is an interesting story. A mob attacks women and other people, and there is not one adjective about the attackers other than there appears to have been around 100 of them. Is this journalism? Have we really gotten to the point where media has decided for us all what we are not allowed to know in case we form opinions based on facts that might be politically inconvenient? Why do I think if they were mostly middle class white kids from Christian backgrounds we would have video, photos and names by now? Below, a paragraph or two of the story but click over and read the whole thing to get a sense of the scope of the lack of information.

A WOMAN’S leg was broken and several other people were injured Saturday night when a large group of teens accosted pedestrians in Spring Garden, police and witnesses said.

Philadelphia police responded to two reports of pedestrians being assaulted by a large group of young people along Broad Street about 9:30 p.m.

One of those reports came from Emily Guendelsberger, 27, city editor for local arts and entertainment content for the Onion, the satirical newspaper and website. She was walking with seven friends on Green Street near Broad when they were accosted, she said. Guendelsberger, who remained hospitalized with a broken leg yesterday, declined to comment further.

  1. It could be just roudy “inner city” youths.

Philidelphia isn’t ironically referred to as the city of brotherly love for nothing. I visited there last year and the white and black populations of the city don’t interact even when in the same neighborhood. On the street everyone was upper middle class, white and going into bourgois shops and eateries. But I stepped off that very street into a mall and the race and class changed 100%. EVERYONE in the mall was african american while just out the door everyone was white. Even when people were in the exact same neighborhood they were not interacting with each other at all. This indicates that there is a considerable racial divide and racial tensions in Philedelphia.

I would suspect that working class black people who hang out in the bourgois strip are made to feel they are not welcome. An african american girlfriend of mine, who worked in upper class jewelry boutiques in soho and on the upper east side her whole life, and was obviously the last person in the world who would shoplift, would be over watched when she herself went into nice shops. This made her paranoid about treatment in shops and restureants in a way that I at first thought was over reaction.

So it is very likely that it was a bunch of hyped up inner city youth fresh out of the shcool year and made dizzy on fizzy drinks (and pot) acting out from justified or delusional feelings of resentment.

  2. The islamic wolf packs that do this sort of thing in europe are much smaller.

There was one video of a huge group of muslim kids doing this in france but there had been some kind of large confrontation between islamic and other groups on that day.

  3. I’m not happy about this either. Most of the time if they feel a tinge of duty to report who did it, they’ll say African youth or Asian youth. Personally I think those groups should protest because, for Africans at least, its very easy for others to return (if it was suppressed) to their hateful prejudice and decide all Africans are bad -or all Blacks are bad. And so, it behooves Africans and other Blacks and Asians as well to protest this type of journalism.

Oh well. That’s probably not going to happen anytime soon.

  4. One of the arguments that the European judges may have considered, is that deporting these dangerous Somali criminals back to Somalia, would make Somalia even more dangerous.

  5. The left is working hard to repeat the riots of the 1960s, I thought that they would happen this year but it is looking like they are saving things for next year during the primaries and the campaign.
