  1. He’s a scapegoat for all that is corrupt in the former UK, now known as “Britainistan” to many people.

In most countries, he would have been praised, not vilified for his actions. In most countries, he would not have been charged for the same offence once he was acquitted, as what seems to have been the case here.

But then again, George Orwell WAS writing about the state of England in 1948 and where it was probably heading. He was spot-on.

  2. It’s a disgrace, I am totally embarrased to be British

    CHURCHILL ON ISLAM

The short speech from Winston Churchill, was delivered by him in 1899 when he was a young soldier and journalist

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries!

Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.

The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity.

The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.

No stronger retrograde force exists in the world.

Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith.

It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.”

  3. How long will it take before the Brits start filling the streets in every town and city on the same day? That is what the TEA party did and look how many people they elected.

  4. Richard, one can also ask why we in this country and you in the US, don’t wake up to what we see happening in Europe, the UK, Scandinavia and the WORLD ?

I was discussing this with someone couple of weeks back, he said that the world IS waking up.

I said that there may be a very slight awakening in the general population, but very little. We think there may be, because of out interest in the situation, so it seems more is happening.

Take what is happening in Libya, as we speak….the first couple of days it was everywhere in the MSM, now we don’t hear anything unless we buy hard copy news, or watch a TV dedicated news channel

When I went home to England the first time, in 1976, I saw then what was happening. It was then I said I’d never go ‘down the East End’ ever again. I am now glad I made the decision, from what I see and hear. At least I have my memories

  5. Shirl the US is very insular, and our media doesn’t report on much foreign news. We are also in the midst of an isolationist revival and are fighting them to keep our military at strength. Yes we are seeing the people wake up, but slowly, these things happen at a certain pace until finally that pace is an avalanche. I wish it wasn’t so because there are going to be a lot of people hurt because of the slow awakening.

  6. “the US is very insular”

Good to hear that form an American, as I’ve had my head taken off for that very comment

Australians are quite worldly, but have the attitude

    “She’ll be right,, mate !!”

  7. It is the truth, most people I know think that what is happening overseas has nothing to do with us and that we should just withdraw inside our borders and let the rest of the world do what they want. That would be a big mistake, the worlds economy has been integrated since the 16th Century and no nation that is above the mud hut level of existence can exist on their own.
