Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi reportedly ordered the execution of soldiers who refused to shoot protesters, Yalibnan reported Feb. 21. The soldiers were tied up and set on fire. More than 230 people have been killed in Libya as anti-government protesters rally in the capital of Tripoli.

According to unconfirmed reports, aircraft from the Libyan air force have opened fire on protesters in central Tripoli, Al Jazeera reported Feb. 21.

Libyan protesters have taken control of the cities of Benghazi, Sirte, Tobruk, Misurata, Khoms, Tarhunah, Zenten, al-Zawiya and Zouara, International Federation for Human Rights head Souhayr Belhassen said, AFP reported Feb. 21. Witnesses in Sirte denied that the city was under the control of protesters, but others in al-Zawiya said that police had fled Sirte.

Airstrikes have hit Al Joumhouria Street in Tripoli, Al Jazeera reported Feb. 21, citing eyewitness reports.

  1. Gadhafi is an barbaric thing for lack of a better word that isn’t a cuss word, but so are the Moslem Brotherhood, brutal acts like this are going to become more and more common throughout the Middle East.
