Police are being given more powerful guns and extra training to prepare for a possible Mumbai-style terror attack in Britain.
Security chiefs are staging a series of counter-terrorism exercises with police sharpshooters training alongside units of the elite SAS under the plans.
The development follows the interception last month by British intelligence officials of a credible Al Qaeda-linked plot.

That would have reportedly been similar to the deadly commando-style raids in Mumbai, India, two years ago, which left 166 people dead and several hundred injured.
Cities in France and Germany were also targeted as part of the plot.
Former security minister Lord West told the BBC police officers needed to be properly trained to deal with similar terror attacks.
He said: ‘These people like the Mumbai terrorists, are a bit like soldiers, they do fire and support, move forward, all they want to do is kill as many people as possible, with slightly heavier weapons than our police have.

‘And therefore you have to give heavy weapons to the police and train them how to do it.
‘There is no way, except at immense cost, you could have SAS-level trained troops in every part of the country to be able to respond in the time-scale you’d need.
‘The police are there and have to do that first response.’
The UK’s terror threat rating remains at ‘severe’, the second highest rating, where it has been since increasing from ‘substantial’ in January.

How is an armed platoon attacking a city not an act of war? How is that “terrorism” and not simply an old – fashioned invasion? I mean, enemy soldiers running through the streets, shooting people and blowing things up – sounds like war to me. I realize that they make it difficult to pinpoint exactly who to hit, but surely we could think of someone. Gee, I wonder if the Founding Fathers of the US constitution were thinking of something like this when they put in that bit about the right to bear arms?
If there was no Muslim immigration, would the police be having to do this? Then why do they keep on admitting more Muslims and accommodating their every wish, and then some? I fear reason and the survival instinct no longer exist among the UK elite. When they outlawed gun ownership and self-protection for the Brits, I knew the end was only a matter of time. Why didn’t the mobs advance on Westminster then? In fact, why don’t they do it now?
Terror attacks are acts of war, anytime a foreign national commits a random attack with the intention of killing people to force a change in policy it is an act of war. I know the left has been screaming that is a crime and not an act of war but they are doing this for their own partisan political purposes. If the West doesn’t start treating them like acts of war the West will lose the war of survival.
But, but I thought the sharia courts, shoving halal food down everyone’s throats regardless of their willingness to eat it, elevating “hurting muslim feelings” to the level of the gravest felony in the UK injustice system, First-Amendment-like freedom of speech for mahoundians only, Nick Clegg’s enthusiasm for the mahoundian call to banging their heads on the ground to be allowed all over Britain, claiming that burqas were part of the British way of life, lenient punishment or no jail time for crimes committed by “Asians” (Porkistanis, that is) against non-mahoundians, endless heaps of cash for imams supposed to help “fight extremism” (never mind that what they see as “extremism” is stuff like equal legal status for men and women), no punishment for acts of domestic violence committed by mahoundians and a whole lot more acts of appeasement would prevent such threats… Or so the rationale of the last 3 British governments went.
On the other hand, Switzerland has banned minarets and the burqa and is soon to pass a measure for the automatic deportation of foreign criminals once they’ve served their sentences (including those convicted of a crime which is a favorite among mahoundians, welfare fraud), it doesn’t allow halal slaughter on its soil and has brushed aside demands for mahoundians-only cemeteries, and yet it isn’t facing any of the threats that the UK is. Doesn’t that just make it 100% clear which of the two approaches is the most effective in dealing with those fascist inbred bedouin savages?
The Swiss have always been gutsy when push comes to shove, at one point in history the Swiss mercenaries were the best soldiers on earth, they are now proving that they are still brave. Hopefully others will follow their lead.
Could be that the police are training to quell any anti-Islamic protests by the EDL and the common people.
Muslims get the preferential treatment while all other citizens get a police state.

They are training for a lot of things, but your take is probably on the list, the political class is reluctant to use force against a perceived minority because they don’t want to be called racist. They don’t understand that the choice isn’t being called racist or not, but being made a slave or not. Welcome to the world the left has created for us.
