Chris Hitchens: Interview on CNN on cancer and life

Dear god please spare Christopher Hitchens. He is a man who the world urgently needs right now. Few people alive have the capacity for lucid analysis as Hitch. He is in the Shakespeare-Churchill league in terms both of analysis and expression of that analysis. His speech in Toronto about freedom of expression is not just brilliant but it is important. This breaks my heart.

  1. Sorry, I cannot understand why conservatives like this guy from the left . Edward Said a dear friend .Please

  2. @Sol

I agree. This guy equates all religions as the same. Meaning there is no difference between Christianity or Islam. If you buy that you have got to have your head in the sand.

I feel bad he has cancer but that doesn’t change my mind about him.
He is a left wing atheist which is a religion in the belief of highest faith is in government.

I will go one step farther Hitchens belief says:
“God or a supreme being is a totalitarian belief that destroys individual freedom”
This belief is the antithesis of George Washington belief that God is the depository of freedom.

I am not religious at all but I will side with Washington any day over this guy.

  3. One more thing.

The three great awakenings which gave us modern Republics throughout the world and our pushing aside monarch’s was based on God and religion.

To ignore this history and pretend the Great Awakening never happened it idiocy.

  4. There is either life after death or oblivion. We all have the choice to believe in either one. Apparently, Mr. Hitchens has made his choice and I can only hope he is happy with it. Personally, I think it’s insane to contemplate oblivion for one’s self: such a dead end (pun intended).

  5. Pretty great post. I simply stumbled upon your blog and wanted to mention that I have truly loved browsing your weblog posts. After all I’ll be subscribing in your rss feed and I’m hoping you write once more soon!
