Aftenposten republishes Mo’toons

Norwegian newspaper reprints Prophet Mohammed cartoons

The Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten has reproduced the controversial Danish cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed.

Published: 5:11PM GMT 08 Jan 2010

They were used to illustrate an article about Kurt Westergaard, the Danish cartoonist whose home was broken into by an Islamist armed with an axe a week ago.

It printed six out of the 12 drawings that infuriated Muslims around the world when the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten first published them in 2005.

Several of the drawings were seen as linking Islam and its revered prophet to terrorism and suicide bombings, with Westergaard’s cartoon showing him wearing a turban in the shape of a bomb.

On Jan 2, an axe-wielding 28-year-old man broke into Westergaard’s home screaming for “revenge” and “blood”. Police – alerted by the cartoonist who had hidden in a panic room – shot and arrested him.

Aftenposten’s editor, Hilde Haugsgjerd, said it seemed “natural and justified to republish the artistic and journalistic body of work that is likely the cause of this violence”.

Aftenposten first published copies of the cartoons in 2005 but did not join newspapers in many other countries when they reprinted in 2006 some or all of them, citing freedom of expression.

Angry crowds demonstrated across the Muslim world, leaving dozens of people dead in riots and causing damage to Danish embassies and the country’s export trade due to boycotts.

  1. it is very shameful act of posting Cartoons. We Muslims never publish or disgust any prophet because we become Muslims when we believe in all prophets and messengers of God. we Respect Honorable Jesus peace be upon him like our Prophet because Muslims know best how to Respect them. We Muslims follow their paths We Muslims pray for them. Even with their names we always use the sentence peace be upon him. All the immoral and bad habits are present in nonmuslims. They always tease the Muslims. Our God Allah has ordered us to do Jihad against those whom tease you first. Ready for punishment.

  2. Allah! Let Your Blessings come upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You Blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Verily You are the Praiseworthy Glorious.

Allah! In every moment and in every breath bestow complete and the best blessings and perfect peace which is endless on Muhammad our Leader and on his posterity and his Companions in number equal to the count of all things in your knowledge, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah.

  3. Yes, Ali Ahmed, many are quite aware of how Muslims worship dead prophets. It’s time many Muslims started to hold the same respect for living human beings.

  4. Actually Muslims show pure contempt to all the ‘prophets’ of all religions except for lecherous old Mohamed. Islam claims that the message of all the other prophets are distorted and that only Mohamed’s is pure, despite many different Korans being found through history that vary wildly, and so that shows the worst contempt to a prophet. If you state accuratly what Jesus or Abraham or Moses said, and then argue with their position or even spew venom on them, at least you are showing them respect by being honest about who they actually where and what they believed. Or even in some cases, being true to the myth or legend. Islam re wrote all the historical religious people to suit the murderous hate filled agenda of Mohamed. This is far far worse than any cartoon. It is the slaughter of history itself. I cannot think of much more vile a thing.

  5. Allah! Let Your Blessings come upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You Blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Verily You aThey always tease the Muslims. Our God Allah has ordered us to do Jihad ag .it is very shameful act of posting Cartoons ainst those whom tease you first. Ready for re the Praiseworthy Glorious.

  6. its very shmeful the posting of cartoons. and they will soon destroy. in shaAllah. the status of Mohammad salallaho alaihi wasallam will never or could no become down with these cheap acivitiese. and we also take revenge with the murder of denish aftenposten’s editer and cartoonist. InshaAllah with the help of Allah.

  7. 12 Proofs that Prophet Muhammad was a True Prophet

My brothers and sisters everywhere! With this essay, I am not singling out the adherents of Islam – to which I ascribe – but rather I am writing this essay to every man and woman throughout the whole world.
I ask Allah that He facilitates that this essay reaches every ear, falls under the sight of every eye, and is understood by every heart… Muhammad the son of `Abdullah is Allah’s Prophet and the Final Messenger Sent by Allah to the Inhabitants of Earth. My brothers and sisters everywhere! You should know that the Messenger, Muhammad the son of `Abdullah (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) is Allah’s Messenger in reality and truth. The evidences that show his veracity are abundant. None but an infidel, who out of arrogance alone, could deny these signs.
    Among these proofs:
    1. Muhammad (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) was raised illiterate, unable to read or write, and remained like that till his death. Among all his people, he was known as being truthful and trustworthy. Before receiving revelation, he had no prior knowledge of Religion or any previously sent Message. He remained like that for his first forty years. Revelation then came to Muhammad with the Qur’an that we now have between our hands. This Qur’an mentioned most of the accounts found in the previous scriptures, telling us about these events in the greatest detail as if he witnessed them. These accounts came precisely as they were found in the Torah sent down to Moses and in the Gospel sent down to Jesus. Neither the Jews or Christians were able to believe him regarding anything that he said.
    2. Muhammad (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) also foretold of everything that would occur to him and his community after him, pertaining to victory, the removal of the tyrannical kingdoms of Chosroes [the royal title for the Zoroastrian kings of Persia] and Caesar, and the establishment of the religion of Islam throughout the earth. These events occurred exactly as Muhammad foretold, as if he was reading the future from an open book.
    3. Muhammad (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) also brought an Arabic Qur’an that is the peak of eloquence and clarity. The Qur’an challenged those eloquent and fluent Arabs of his time, who initially belied him, to bring forth a single chapter like the Qur’an. The eloquent Arabs of his day were unable to contest this Qur’an. Indeed, till our day, none has ever dared to claim that he has been able to compose words that equal-or even approach-the order, grace, beauty, and splendor of this Glorious Qur’an.
    4. The life history of this Noble Prophet was a perfect example of being upright, merciful, compassionate, truthful, brave, generous, distant from all evil character, and ascetic in all worldly matters, while striving solely for the reward of the Hereafter. Moreover, in all his actions and dealings, he was ever mindful and fearful of Allah.
    5. Allah instilled great love for Muhammad (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) in the hearts of all who believed in and met him. This love reached such a degree that any of his companions would willingly sacrifice his (or her) self, mother or father for him. Till today, those who believe in Muhammad honor and love him. Anyone of those who believe in him would ransom his own family and wealth to see him, even if but once.
    6. All of history has not preserved the biography of any person in the manner it has preserved the life of Muhammad, who is the most influential human in history. Nor has the entire earth known of anyone whom every morning and evening, and many times thereafter throughout the day, is thought of by those who believe in him. Upon remembering Muhammad, the believers in him will greet him and ask Allah to bless him. They do such with full hearts and true love for him.
    7. Nor has there every been a man on earth whom is still followed in all his doings by those who believe in him. Those who believe in Muhammad, sleep in the manner he slept; purify themselves (through ablution and ritual washing) in the manner he purified himself; and adhere to his practice in the way they eat, drink, and clothe themselves.
Indeed in all aspects of their lives, the believers in Muhammad adhere to the teachings he spread among them and the path that he traveled upon during his life.
During every generation, from his day till our time, the believers in this Noble prophet have fully adhered to his teachings. With some, this has reached the degree that they desire to follow and adhere to the Prophet’s way in his personal matters regarding which Allah has not sought of them to adhere to in worship. For example, some will only eat those specific foods or only wear those specific garments that the Messenger liked.
Let alone all that, all those who believe in Muhammad repeat those praises of Allah, special prayers, and invocations that he would say during each of his actions during day and night, like: what he would say when he greeted people, upon entering and leaving the house, entering and leaving the mosque, entering and leaving the bathroom, going to sleep and awaking from sleep, observing the new crescent, observing the new fruit on trees, eating, drinking, dressing, riding, traveling and returning from travel, etc. Let alone all that, all those who believe in Muhammad fully perform-even to the minute detail-every act of worship-like prayer, fasting, charity, and pilgrimage-as this Noble Messenger (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) taught and as he himself performed. All of this allows those who believe in him, to live their lives in all aspects with this Noble Messenger as their example, as if he was standing before them, for them to follow in all their doings.
    8. There has never been nor will there ever be a man anywhere upon this earth who has received such love, respect, honor, and obedience in all matters-small and large alike-as has this Noble Prophet.
    9. Since his day, in every region of the earth and during every period, this Noble Prophet has been followed by individuals from all races, colors and peoples. Many of those who followed him were previously Christians, Jews, pagans, idolaters, or without any religion. Among those who chose to follow him, were those who were known for their sound judgment, wisdom, reflection, and foresight. They chose to follow this Noble Prophet after they witnessed the signs of his truthfulness and the evidences of his miracles. They did not choose to follow Muhammad out of compulsion or coercion or because they had adopted the ways of their fathers and mothers. Indeed many of the followers of this Prophet (may Allah’s blessings peace be upon him), chose to follow him during the time when Islam was weak, when there were few Muslims, and when there was severe persecution of his followers on earth. Most people who have followed this Prophet (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) have done so not to acquire some material benefits. Indeed many of his followers have suffered the greatest forms of harm and persecution as a result of following this Prophet. Despite all this harm and persecution, this did not turn them back from his religion. My brethren! All of this clearly indicates to anyone possessing any sense, that this Prophet was truly and really Allah’s messenger and that he was not just a man who claimed prophethood or spoke about Allah without knowledge.
    10. With all this, Muhammad came with a great religion in its creedal and legal make-up. Muhammad described Allah with qualities of complete perfection, and at the same time in a manner that is free of ascribing to Him any imperfection. Neither the philosophers or the wise could ever describe Allah like such. Indeed it is impossible to imagine that any human mind could conceive of an existing being that possesses such complete ability, knowledge, and greatness; Who has subdued the creation; Who has encompassed everything in the universe, small or large; and Who possesses such perfect mercy. Nor is it in the ability of any human being to place a perfect law based upon justice, equality, mercy and objectivity for all human activity on earth like the laws that Muhammad brought for all spheres of human activity – like buying and selling, marriage and divorce, renting, testimony, custody, and all other contracts that are necessary to uphold life and civilization on earth.
    11. It is impossible that any person conceive wisdom,, morals, good manners, nobleness of characters as what this honorable Prophet (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) brought. In a full and complete manner, Muhammad spread a teaching regarding character and manners toward one’s parents, relatives, fiends, family, humanity, animals, plants and inanimate objects. It is impossible for the human mind alone to grasp all of that teaching or come with a similar teaching. All of that unequivocally indicates that this Messenger did not bring an) of this religion from his own accord, but that it was rather a teaching and inspiration that he received from the One Who created the earth and the high heavens above and created this universe in its miraculous architecture and perfection.
    12. The legal and creedal make-up of the religion that the Messenger, Muhammad, (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) brought resembles the engineering of the heavens and the earth. All of that indicates that He who created the heavens and the earth is the One Who sent down this great law and upright religion. The degree of inimitability of the Divine law that was sent down upon Muhammad is to the same degree of inimitability of the Divine creation of the heavens and earth. For just as humanity cannot create this universe, in the same manner humanity cannot bring forth a law like Allah’s law that He sent down upon His servant and messenger Muhammad (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him).

  8. punishment of every person who disgust our beloved and Holy Prophet Mohammad (s.a.w) is murder,we cannot bear it and will take revenge from those non sense and fool people with the help of ALLAH.we don’t care what other people say about this punishment, but we have to act upon it and we will InshALLAH

  9. Muhammad (pbuh) was an illiterate but wise and well-respected man who was born in Makkah in the year 570 C.E., at a time when Christianity was not yet fully established in Europe. His first years were marked by the deaths of his parents. Since his father died before his birth, his uncle, Abu Talib, from the respected tribe of Quraysh, raised him. As Muhammad (pbuh) grew up, he became known for his truthfulness, generosity and sincerity, so that he was sought after for his ability to arbitrate in disputes. His reputation and personal qualities also led to his marriage, at the age of twenty-five, to Khadijah, a widow whom he had assisted in business. Thenceforth, he became an important and trusted citizen of Makkah. Historians describe him as calm and meditative.
Muhammad (pbuh) never felt fully content to be part of a society whose values he considered to be devoid of true religious significance. It became his habit to retreat from time to time to the cave of Hira’, to meditate near the summit of Jabal al-Nur, the “Mountain of Light”, near Makkah.
At the age of 40, while engaged in one such meditative retreat, Muhammad (pbuh) received his first revelation from God through the Angel Gabriel. This revelation, which continued for twenty-three years, is known as the Qur’an, the faithful recording of the entire revelation of God. The first revelation read:
“Recite: In the name of your Lord Who created man from a clot (of blood). Recite: Your Lord is Most Noble, Who taught by the pen, taught man what he did not know.” [96:1-5]
It was this reality that he gradually and steadily came to learn and believe, until he fully realized that it is the truth.
His first convert was Khadijah, whose support and companionship provided necessary reassurance and strength. He also won the support of some of his relatives and friends. Three basic themes of the early message were the majesty of the one, unique God, the futility of idol worship, the threat of judgment, and the necessity of faith, compassion and morality in human affairs. All these themes represented an attack on the crass materialism and idolatry prevalent in Makkah at the time. So when he began to proclaim the message to others the Makkans rejected him. He and his small group of followers suffered bitter persecution, which grew so fierce that in the year 622 C.E., God gave them the command to emigrate. This event, the Hijrah (migration), in which they left Makkah for the city of Madinah, some 260 miles to the north, marked the beginning of a new era and thus the beginning of the Muslim calendar. During his suffering, Muhammad (pbuh) drew comfort from the knowledge revealed to him about other prophets, such as Abraham, Joseph, and Moses, each of whom had also been persecuted and tested.
After several years and some significant battles, the Prophet and his followers were able to return to Makkah, where they forgave their enemies and established Islam definitively. By the time the Prophet died, at the age of 63, the greater part of Arabia had accepted Islam, and within a century of his death, Islam had spread as far west as Spain and as far east as China. It was clear that the message was not limited to Arabs; it was for the whole of humanity.
The Prophet’s sayings (Hadith), are also believed to be revelation. The number of sayings collected by his followers and scholars is about 10,000. Some typical examples of his sayings are as follows:
“To pursue knowledge is obligatory on every believing (man and woman).” [Ibn Majah]
“Removing a harmful thing from the road is charity.” [Bukhari, Muslim]
“Those who do not show tenderness and love cannot expect to have tenderness shown to them.” [Bukhari]
“Adore Allah (God) as though you see Him; even if you do not see Him, He nonetheless sees you.” [Bukhari, Muslim]
Although Muhammad is deeply loved, revered and emulated by Muslims as God’s final messenger, he is not an object of worship.

  10. As well evident by any book of history, Islam is undoubtedly a relegion of peace and harmony and the prophet Muhammad(SAW) a prophet of peace. Throughout the life of Muhammad(SAW) he has given numerous examples of justice and equality not only towards his followers and well-wishers but towards his enemies too. In the battles of badr and khundaq, the Prophet Muhammad(SAW) has shown unmatchable acts of tolerance and kindheartedness towards the prisoners of war. He has given some of the best princples of war. His justice is unmatchable with any personality that ever existed in history. His treatment towards the pagans of mecca at the time of their victory in mecca is an absolute example of forgiveness and tolerance. The people who had been at the peak of cruelty and harshness towards the Prophet(SAW) were forgiven right away.
The people assaulting Islam, a relegion of peace, are simply victoms of confusion about their own relegion and beliefs. It is well-evident in these countries, from where such non-sense issues arise, that the people there have completely lost their norms and values. These people are completely confused in their beliefs and can nothing except assaulting another relegion. The bible and the torah are books completely tampered. There are thousands of completely different copies which vary from area to area. On the other hand, the Quran is a complete code of life for a person, which is completely uniform across the world. There is no tampered copy of the Quran. Unlike the bible and torah, the Quran consists of the origianl script that was revealed on the prophet Muhmmad(SAW) 1400 years ago.
Moreover, the people who think that the Muslims deny and criticize the others Prophets are completely mistaken and have no right to say any such thing if they are completely unaware and ignorant of what they are debating about. All other prophets such as Mosses and Jessus are respected and considered as Prophets and messengers of Allah by any Muslim around the world. This thing is included in the fundamental articles of faith in Islam. There is no such evidence of any Muslim speaking against them on any forum. Accordingly people giving non-sense statements about the Prophet Muhammad(SAW) and assaulting him should stop this lame and useless attempt to aggravate the Muslim community.
Islam is a religion of peace and the Muslim community is based on peace, it rests on the principle of ” Live and let Live” but if abusive and unbearable statements are passed against their respected personalities and beliefs then no Muslim is going to bear such a treatment. Voices of Muslims will rise from all parts of the world and the people giving non-sense statements about islam are going to be dealt with harshly.

  11. Do you guys meet for coffee? Your continued threats are indeed heard around the world and only further the impression that non-Muslims, and Muslims as well, have of you and your extremist views. You will, as the expression goes, ” hang yourself on your own gallows”.

  12. i dont understand why are they doing this again. its pointless. and it will only harm there reputation.
it is very stupid, disrespectful, unmannered and uncivilized to print these things.
and if they call it freedom of speech then they are even more uncultured and uncivilized. all of this is causing violence so excuse me who is the reason of violence now ?

freedom of speech is a right which should not be exploited. that does not mean one should say whatever they feel like. this shows lack of manners on the part of editor. the editor of newspaper does not even have little bit caliber that she can not even judge the situation and act accordingly. i dont even get why is she still the editor.

if she has some views she should know how to express them and first she should clear her concepts and study in depth about issues, and that is what being well cultured is. have some humanity women. being a newspaper editor she should know all this. this shows how incompetent she is.

  13. respected Grace, i would like to bring this to your knowledge that what ever has been done is unethical and baseless. you can not justify this act by saying that Muslims are terrorists. what has this terrorism got to do with Prophet Mohammad ? of course you must be mature enough to understand it for yourself but your comments show the level of your understanding. you should kindly first research and then make your judgments.

yes all those acts of terrorism are wrong and inhuman. and we all condemn it and those who do it, whether those be muslims or non muslims whatever it doesnt make a difference. but if you are associating with religion or Prophet Mohammad then thats truly stupid on your part.

but perhaps its the lack of knowledge and awareness that people are saying baseless things. you should history and all kinds of books that will help you to understand these things better.

no hard feelings but i am just trying help you to see the bigger picture. its not only that i am a Muslim so i am defending this all, but i strongly condemn disrespect of any religion etc or any human on basis of religion.

its basic respect and ethics to not degrade other peoples religion or religious figures, of course i expect you to know this. you know by doing these stupid things what are we teaching to our young generation, to disrespect other religions like that! is this a kind of world you want where theres no dignity for an individual, where people will despise each other just because they belong to different religions!

and if some muslims are involved in this terrorism than ask from your self : will printing cartoons like this will help ? i dont think so ! two wrongs dont make a right !

  14. mhfs: I’m confused by your first comment- what editor of what paper are you referring? Secondly, if you believe that printing editorial cartoons in a free society will fuel terrorists to violence you are correct; they will exact the blood of innocents regardless of the excuse as long as oppression is the end goal. A cartoon yesterday, a joke today, a painting tomorrow. I pray too that no more innocent people die or get injured because of radical Islam.

  15. dear grace, im taking about Aftenposten’s editor, Hilde Haugsgjerd. the newspaper which reprinted Prophets picture.

thank you for understanding and acknowledging my point of view

all the best and take care

  16. It is really really shameful for these uncivilized and materialistic people who have forgotten the message of there own Prophet whether He is Christ,Jesus or David….All are Allah’s favorite personalities…May Allah show these ignorant people the Right Path.

  17. bismillah.gif

the translition of al kawtar sura
1- verily , we have grated you ( o Muhamed “sala allah 3lihi wa salam ” ) Al kauthar ( a rivier in thePradise )
2- Therefore turn in prayer to your lord and sacrifice ( to him only )
3-For he who hates you ( o Muhammad “sala allah alaihi wa salam ” ) he will be cut off ( from every good thing in this world and in the hereafter )

  18. Islam is a religion which acts like spring. when you will compress it, in the reaction it will be jump more. Same is happening in European countries. Europe and America are trying to prove Islam a terrorist religion by using all their powers, fearing the people about Muslims that they don’t have the rights of Women they give punish to women and so more. But fortunately they see that a large number of women is embracing Islam. I challenge to every that human being who have some bad thoughts in his mind about Islam InshAllah he will see that Islam will reach to every house, every camp, even it will be on mountains. Don’t get delay come to the right path.

  19. in the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful..
May Allah bless prophet Mohamed peace be upon him, his family his companions and his followers…

i dont think grace has a good memory..letme recall some of the best parts of the history for dumbo’s like u..
Just take a flashback of the Great Holocaust..your forefathers would have been one of the victims or the accused..neither of them were so called Muslim terrorist..u were given a fair treat by the people of the similar mind states as u have got..
i wont comment further..but u all really need another holocaust..
have patience..it is just coming ur way..

  20. This is condemnable, beyond doubt…

May Allah Bless us to spend our lives and lay our lives for his Deen…….Aameen.

Allah! Let Your Blessings come upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You Blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Verily You are the Praiseworthy Glorious.

  21. Reply to Eeyore’s comment @ ‘ Actually Muslims show pure contempt to all the ‘prophets’ of all religions except for lecherous old Mohamed. See, I can prove you that Christianity is distorted. I can even name the person who caused that. You might have heard about Constintine The Great ?? Ruler of the Eastern Roman Empire of the split of the Roman Empire ??
So. the thing is, this guy, merged the Greek religion with Christianity. The Christmas, birth of Christ, was conceded with a Pagan festive of celebration of some god. Well, this was just the start of the distortion. Later the Roman church, fearing they might loose power, made some changes to suit the great masses.
As for Islam, I do not deny the fact that Islam even is greatly distorted. Again, due to power hungry Infidels. But, still there are some(very few to the comparision of the Muslim proportion) who have kept it still going, still pure. I can say that, because their teachings, the facts and figures of their history, and the history of the world matches. There is not a single controversy that I have yet come across.
