Osman Warning: Theo Van Gogh Type Threat

(UK) If Muslim extremists are angered enough to issue a fatwa for your death, the British police will inform you by issuance of an “Osman warning” indicating that your safety is at risk and it’s your fault. Here’s an excerpt from the Osman warning which the individual is required to sign.

“I have been informed that I am not under arrest or caution. I have been advised by the police that as a result of my lifestyle I have caused anger and upset in some sections of the community. This behaviour on my part has included the use of the Internet, making comments to the media, as well as involvement in arranging demonstrations. As a result of this the police have informed me that my safety may be at risk.”

The excerpt is from the warning given to Paul Ray, a founder of the arguably moderate English Defense League (EDL). The death threat was posted on the extremist Revolution Muslim chat forum with Mr. Ray’s photo, address, and known places he frequents. The Revolution Muslim forum entry promised a repeat of what happened to Theo van Gogh, who was murdered in broad daylight in Amsterdam.

Presumably, the warning given to Mr. Ray was specific to his circumstances but it’s not a stretch to conclude that the police are quite prepared to blame the victim as opposed to the perpetrators of terroristic threats.

It’s difficult to erase the impression that the Muslim extremists can do anything they please while the police tell the general population to be quiet and don’t make them mad. I contend that it’s unacceptable for the police to be cheerleaders for political correctness.

UPDATE by Rusty: I’m not so sure about the EDL being “moderate”. I might be wrong, but I know Robert Spencer wouldn’t meet with them and I trust his judgment on this.

  1. I too am unsure about the EDL. I agree with their stance, in that they are demanding less concessions to Islam, but I’ve read reports that one or two of the EDL organisers are also involved with the BNP.

I don’t know if this is true or not – the Guardian have bashed the EDL and for that reason alone I am sceptical of the negative rumours re the EDL!

If there is a minority number of vile racists in the EDL, hopefully they’ll get kicked out.

  2. @Tabatha – “but I’ve read reports that one or two of the EDL organisers are also involved with the BNP.”
You will also read that they are “all islamaphobes”, that muslims NEVER riot, that it is always “the other persons fault”. This is standard tactics.
I would love to see anyone convicted of rioting to loose all social benefits, including the dole and free housing. Sentence them to 1000 hours of cleaning the streets. However, muslims are currently the Übermenschen in the UK. Rather like the KKK back in the USA, or the Nazies in Austria.
There is an article in the papers today of an imam explaining why Shariah is so much better than British laws. That it is reasonable for men to say ” I divorce you twice” while women have to get the imam’s permission.
He tells it so calmly and rationally that you start to think, maybe there is something in this, then you listen to what he is actually saying. The islam pushers are willing to say anything, calmly and reasonably, until you disagree. Then they get nasty.
