Jason Kenney, issued the following statement re: desecration of Jewish graves

Statement on the Desecration of Jewish Memorial Gardens in Ottawa

The Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism issued the following statement:

I am outraged by this cowardly act of vandalism and I express my sympathy for the families of those whose graves at the Jewish Memorial Gardens were desecrated.

Ottawa Police report that Swastikas, anti-Semitic threats and other NAZI imagery were spray-painted on the walls that mark the entrance to the cemetery, and that several headstones were also defaced. Anti-Semitism continues to be a threat. Even here in Canada, anti-Semitic attacks are on the rise.

We must remain vigilant against this sort of hate. That is why we must continue with the Security Infrastructure Pilot Program for communities at risk, we must continue standing up against anti-Semitism by boycotting international conferences like Durban, and we must continue to delegitimize those who peddle anti-Semitism both in Canada and abroad.

Thank you Rt. Honorable Minister Kenney,

Eeyore
