  1. Iraqi Forces Battle IS Militants Outside Fallujah (abcnews, May 23, 2016)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/iraqi-forces-battle-militants-fallujah-39299841

“Officials say government forces have pushed Islamic State militants from some agricultural areas outside the city of Fallujah at the start of a military offensive aimed at recapturing the city from the Islamic State group.

Police 1st Lt. Ahmed Mahdi Salih said Monday that the ground fighting is taking place around the town of Garma, east of Fallujah, which is considered the main supply line to the militants. IS holds the center of Garma and some areas on its outskirts.

Col. Mahmoud al-Mardhi, who is in charge of paramilitary forces, says his troops recaptured at least three agricultural areas outside Garma.

Backed by U.S.-led coalition airstrikes and paramilitary troops, Iraqi government forces launched the long-awaited military offensive on Fallujah late Sunday night.”

“Yemeni security officials say that a pair of suicide bombers killed at least 45 people in the southern city of Aden.

The officials said Monday that the two bombers targeted young men seeking to join the army. One suicide car bomber targeted a line outside an army recruitment center, killing at least 20. A second bomber on foot detonated his explosive vest among a group of recruits waiting outside the home of an army commander, killing at least 25.

The Yemeni officials all spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media.

Yemen’s conflict pits the internationally recognized government against Shiite rebels who control the capital, Saana, and are allied with a former president. The country also contains active al-Qaida and Islamic State group affiliates.”

“At least 65 people have been killed in multiple blasts in Syrian government coastal strongholds, reports say.

Explosions hit the cities of Tartus and Jableh. Several of the blasts were caused by suicide bombers, a UK-based monitoring group said.

Syrian media said bus stations were among the targets. A hospital is also reported to have been hit.

Attacks of this scale are rare in these areas. No group has yet said it was behind the blasts.”

  4. Jail warders treat Islamist terrorists with kid gloves fearing racism accusations (express, May 23, 2016)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/672762/Muslim-prisoners-play-race-card-privileges

“ISLAMIST extremist prisoners are exploiting sensitivity to racism to get special treatment, a damning Whitehall report is set to reveal.

The independent review, commissioned by Justice Secretary Michael Gove, raises concerns that inmates are frequently making false complaints about discrimination in jails.

It is to recommend that specially designated units are created in some high-security jails to house the most “dangerous, extreme and subversive” Muslim fanatics.

The report from former Home Office official Ian Acheson was due to have been released last month, but publication is understood to have been delayed until after the EU referendum next month.

“The wheels of government are grinding very slowly at the moment,” said one Whitehall source.

Insiders said the report found a “widespread reluctance” among prison staff to “challenge unacceptable extremist behaviour and views because of the fear of being labelled racist”.

Staff also feared being “hung out to dry” by management because of “spurious” accusations of racism, another source said.

Security and intelligence reports acknowledged that Islamist inmates were aware of staff nervousness about being accused of racism.

Inmates “routinely threatened” staff who wanted to enforce the rules with “complaints that they’re being discriminated against”, said an intelligence source…”

      • Hopefully that prison won’t be as easy for the Moslems to get out of, the Marxists seem to be entering and leaving the White House daily.

Five of the six offenders were jailed for a combined total of 102 years in February, and the collective cost of £529,000 was shelled out to pay for lawyers to defend them at Sheffield Crown Court.

  6. Austria’s far-right neck-and-neck in ‘election thriller’

Vienna (AFP) – Austria stood at a political crossroads Monday ahead of the final result of a knife-edge election that could make it the first EU country with a president from the anti-immigration far-right.

Preliminary results late Sunday put Norbert Hofer, presented as the friendly and moderate face of the late Joerg Haider’s Freedom Party (FPOe), 3.8 percentage points ahead in the race for the largely-ceremonial post.

But this paper-thin margin of just 144,006 votes could well be erased once around 700,000 postal votes are counted, with projections indicating that former Greens chief Alexander van der Bellen might emerge as victor in the final furlong.

A final result is expected between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm (1500-1700 GMT), said interior ministry election official Robert Stein.

    • The postal votes MUST BE CONTESTED. The days of walking away like a gentleman with hat in hand are over. There is too much at stake.
Every postal vote should be thoroughly vetted. As we liked to say in 2000 re: Bush v Gore “How’s your chad hanging?”
I really hope every effort is made to weed out the fraud voters.

        • I know, if the voters turn out in mass to vote against Hillary it will be to many for them to crook, the crooked votes will make it a close election but they won’t be able to steal them.

  7. Immigration backlash at the heart of British push to leave the E.U.

PETERBOROUGH, England — Seen from London, Edinburgh, Oxford or other havens of the cosmopolitan British elite, this country’s vote next month on whether to quit the European Union may appear to be a relatively easy choice.

Not a day goes by when a foreign leader, renowned economist or military chief doesn’t warn of the dire consequences of a vote to leave — for Britain and for the world.

But venture just 45 minutes north of London by train to the ancient market city of Peterborough and it soon becomes clear why, with just over a month to go before the referendum, the polls are running nearly even.

Here, the initials E.U. are spat rather than spoken, Brussels is a dirty word, and all the prophecies of doom seem a small risk compared with the opportunity to unshackle Britain from Europe.

  8. U.S. lifts arms ban on old foe Vietnam as regional tensions simmer

HANOI (Reuters) – The United States announced an end to its embargo on sales of lethal arms to Vietnam on Monday, an historic step that draws a line under the two countries’ old enmity and underscores their shared concerns about Beijing’s growing military clout.

The move came during President Barack Obama’s first visit to Hanoi, which his welcoming hosts described as the arrival of a warm spring and a new chapter in relations between two countries that were at war four decades ago.

Obama, the third U.S. president to visit Vietnam since diplomatic relations were restored in 1995, has made a strategic ‘rebalance’ toward Asia a centerpiece of his foreign policy.

Vietnam, a neighbor of China, is a key part of that strategy amid worries about Beijing’s assertiveness and sovereignty claims to 80 percent of the South China Sea.

The decision to lift the arms trade ban, which followed intense debate within the Obama administration, suggested such concerns outweighed arguments that Vietnam had not done enough to improve its human rights record and Washington would lose leverage for reforms.

Obama told a joint news conference with Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang that disputes in the South China Sea should be resolved peacefully and not by whoever “throws their weight around”. But he insisted the arms embargo move was not linked to China.

  9. Collapsing Venezuela deploys troops against populace, claiming U.S. about to invade

The embattled socialist government of Venezuela has sent out troops to fight anti-government protesters and justified it by claiming the U.S. could invade the country soon.

Venezuela has been dealing with widespread protests since Wednesday, a response to Socialist President Nicolas Maduro’s rejection of 1.85 million signatures submitted by the conservative opposition to start the recall referendum process. Venezuelan security forces have used tear gas on crowds, and riot police has frequently engaged in violent clashes with protesters.

The Defense Minister of Venezuela claims that the widespread presence of security forces is because, “Venezuela is threatened. This is the first time we are carrying out an exercise of this nature in the country. In terms of national reach, it’s going to be in every strategic region.”

Venezuela’s government has justified its aggression against protesters because of mixed signals from the Obama Administration. Back in March 2015, President Obama stated via Executive Order that Venezuela under its current government was a national security threat and subsequently issued sanctions against top regime officials. Then in April 2015, shortly before the Summit of the Americas, Obama spoke with the EFE News Agency and said, “We do not believe that Venezuela poses a threat to the United States, nor does the United States threaten the Venezuelan government.”

Venezuela has been in total turmoil since December 2015 elections which were won by the conservative opposition which subsequently took control of the National Assembly, the equivalent of Congress. This major election win marked the first time in its 17 years in power that the socialist government had to share power with the opposition.

  10. No, Hitler was not a Christian

“[T]he only way of getting rid of Christianity is to allow it to die little by little.”

    – Adolf Hitler

Yes, there have been evil men who have done evil things in the name of false Christianity. To a limited degree, Adolf Hitler was one such man. Still, as even he frequently admitted outside the public eye, he was no Christian.

As a counterweight to stigma associated with the tens of millions slaughtered in the 20th century alone under the atheist regimes of Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, et al., the secular left is quick to thunder, “But what about Hitler? He was a Christian!”

Bad news, kids. Herr Führer was your guy, too.

“I shall never come personally to terms with the Christian lie,” Hitler confessed (audio transcribed in “Hitler’s Table Talk” [1941-44]). “It would always be disagreeable for me to go down to posterity as a man who made concessions in this field [to be labeled a Christian].”

Did Adolf Hitler ever call himself a Christian? Certainly. He did so, and as he would later admit, for the singular purpose of disseminating political propaganda.

“To whom should propaganda be addressed?” he wrote. “It must be addressed always and exclusively to the masses. … The whole art consists in doing this so skillfully that everyone will be convinced that the fact is real.”

  11. SYRIA – IS blasts in Syria regime heartland kill more than 120

Beirut (AFP) – More than 120 people were killed Monday in a wave of bombings claimed by the Islamic State group in northwestern Syria, the deadliest attacks yet in the regime’s coastal heartland.

Seven near-simultaneous explosions targeted bus stations, hospitals and other civilian sites in the seaside cities of Jableh and Tartus, which until now had been relatively insulated from Syria’s five-year civil war.

The unprecedented attacks on strongholds of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime came as IS faces increasing pressure in both Syria and Iraq, where Baghdad’s forces on Monday launched a major offensive to retake the jihadist-held city of Fallujah.

Seventy-three people were killed in Jableh and another 48 in Tartus to the south, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group.

Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said they were “without a doubt the deadliest attacks” on the two cities since the start of the war.

IS claimed the blasts via its Amaq news agency, saying its fighters had attacked “Alawite gatherings” in Tartus and Jableh, referring to the minority sect from which the Assad clan hails.

IS is not known to have a presence in Syria’s coastal provinces, where its jihadist rival and Al-Qaeda’s local branch Al-Nusra Front is much more prominent.

But IS is notorious for using deadly sleeper cells to attack its enemies.

“I’m shocked, this is the first time I hear sounds like this,” said Mohsen Zayyoud, a 22-year-old university student in Jableh.[…]

  12. Turkey: Leaders gather for first-ever World Humanitarian Summit

Leaders from UN member states gathered for the first-ever World Humanitarian Summit (WHS) in Istanbul on Monday. Hosted by Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, German Chancellor Angela Merkel is among some 50 leaders attending the summit.

The summit, which takes place over two days, aims to rethink global aid strategy in a bid to tackle what Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has described as the worst humanitarian crisis since World War II.

  13. Germany: IS militants treated in Turkish hospitals, trained in refugee camps – HDP leader

Co-chair of the Turkish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Figen Yuksekdag said that it is “no secret” that militants from the Islamic State are being treated in Turkish hospitals and trained in the country’s refugee camps, during an exclusive interview with RT in Ludwigshafen, Sunday.

SOT, Figen Yuksekdag, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) (Turkish): “Everyone you see in the streets is a witness. In Ceylanpinar, in Kilis, everyone you see in the streets is a witness. And we were face to face with all these witnesses, everyday. We have talked to them. We still talk to them-
how IS militants cross the border, how these militants cross the border a few times a day, how they get medical treatment and are sent back to Syria, in which hospital they get the treatment… yesterday one IS militant died in a Turkish hospital. The press published this. This information is not secret.
We do not need other proof or evidence. We know that refugee camps in Turkey were used as IS camps or headquarters.”

SOT, Figen Yuksekdag, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) (Turkish): “The active power which pushes the war in Syria is IS. IS or organisations like Al-Nusra Front, Ahrar ash-Sham. These groups are pushing the war in Syria. The Syrian Democratic Forces are the ones and the only alternative who are really fighting and are able to win against these powers.
It’s the Syrian Democratic Forces, where Democratic Union Party… People’s Protection Units [armed wing of the Democratic Union Party in Kurdish region of Syria] are also involved. All the EU States, all the Western states, all the internationals forces need to position themselves and should show their attitudes. There is no time to extend this situation.
But today, the EU states, the big international forces still do not take place on the side of the Syrian Democratic Forces against this fascist barbarian force. They do not run it into an open political support. We cannot say that their attitude in this context is just not to offend Turkey and Erdogan. Or maybe we should not think like this anymore.
Maybe we are now able not to think like that. If they make this compromise just not to offend Turkey or Erdogan.. this is not a reason anymore. We have begun to think that there are other reasons for that. That’s why we think it’s time to change the way for stopping this war. The political line is really clear in this context. At first Turkey who is also sustaining the war in Syria, the Palace Regime [Erdogan], Saudi Arabia, Qatar and IS supporters… this is the line that they want to build up. This is a coalition. It is important to stand against this coalition. Turkey is in a decisive position in this coalition.”

    • Germany: HDP party condemns ‘dirty deal’ between EU and Turkey

Co-chair of the Turkish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Figen Yuksekdag slammed relations between EU and Turkey as a “a product of a dirty deal”, in an exclusive interview with RT in Ludwigshafen, Sunday.

SOT, Figen Yuksekdag, co-chair of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) of Turkey (Turkish): “We think this is the product of the dirty deal [the political deals between EU and Turkey]. In a time when in Turkey this kind of war and other crimes happen, everyone is silent, everyone who has a little bit of political and ethical attitude, governments or public [societies], it is unbelievable that they cannot speak out the truth. If it’s not happening [if there is no comment on what happens in Turkey] than there is a dirty deal between them. The refugee deal is one proof of that. The Turkish government, the Turkish state threatens the EU with sending the refugees to Europe. They said [ the EU] that they will turn a blind eye in fact what is happening in Turkey. That was the deal. That is a dirty deal made through the lives and bodies of people. That is the worst kind of trade. It is somehow human trafficking. That is why we cannot accept that this self-styled EU civilization, the frontline of democracy, is involved in this kind of human trafficking. We condemn this. ”

  14. Germany: Meeting between AfD and German Muslim council breaks down in Berlin

Leaders of the Eurosceptic and anti-immigration AfD party (Alternative for Germany) left the meeting with Central Council for Muslims in Germany (ZDM) one hour after it had begun in Berlin, Monday.

SOT, Frauke Petry, AfD Chairperson (German): “We have been invited with provocative questions: ‘why do you hate us?’ We hate no one, we love Germany, we love the democratic legal system, and we want to maintain it. And of course this also applies to private and peaceful practice of all religions.”

SOT, Frauke Petry, AfD Chairperson (German): “Most of the Islamic education is not part of a democratic Germany or a democratic Europe, but muslims who are well integrated and who practice their religion peacefully and privately and without a domination claim are of course a part of it.”

SOT, Frauke Petry, AfD Chairperson (German): “We believe that studies like the one done by Mr. Koopman [Ruud Koopmans, director of the WZB Berlin Social Science Centre], out of which follows that a large part of the muslims living in Europe, as well as a big part of muslims living in Germany, give more importance to the Sharia [Islamic law] than to the [national] constitution. This viewpoint is indeed a threat for democracy.”

  15. Yemen: IS claimed suicide bombing kills at least 40 army recruits

A suicide car bomb attack killed at least 40 army recruits and injured a further 60 people in the Yemeni city of Aden, Monday. The self-proclaimed Islamic State (formerly ISIS/ISIL) claimed responsibility for the attack, naming the bomber as Abu Ali al-Adeni.

The car bomb reportedly exploded as Yemeni army recruits queued up to enlist for military service in the Khor Maksar district of Aden

  16. BBC – Austria far-right narrowly loses poll, Van der Bellen elected president

Alexander Van der Bellen has won Austria’s presidential election, preventing Norbert Hofer from becoming the EU’s first far-right head of state.

Mr Hofer led narrowly after Sunday’s election but postal votes counted on Monday gave Mr Van der Bellen victory.

Mr Van der Bellen campaigned on a pro-EU platform, backed by the Green Party.

Mr Hofer, of the Freedom Party, tapped into anti-EU sentiment and fears about rising numbers of asylum seekers. He conceded victory on his Facebook page.

Mr Hofer said it was a sad day and that he would have gladly served as president.

“But please don’t be disheartened. The effort in this election campaign is not wasted, but is an investment for the future.”

The official result is expected to be announced shortly.

Mr Hofer had led Mr Van der Bellen by 51.9% to 48.1%, the interior ministry said, after counting on Sunday.

But the 750,000 postal votes – roughly 12% of Austria’s 6.4 million registered voters – swayed the result.

  18. Gigs of Band in Paris Attack Cancelled After Leader Speaks Out
Frontman of “Eagles of Death Metal” whose November Paris concert was attacked, said Muslims at theatre celebrated, prompting cancellations.

The band which was playing the Bataclan theater in Paris during the terrorist attack last November has had concerts cancelled after their frontman said he saw Muslims celebrating the attack.

Eagles of Death Metal saw two major rock festivals in France pull the group from their lineup this August after lead singer Jesse Hughes told an American magazine he thought Muslim staff at the Bataclan had assisted with the attack.

“I saw Muslims celebrating in the street during the attack. I saw it with my own eyes. In real time! How did they know what was going on? There must have been coordination,” Hughes said in the interview last week in Taki, a right-wing American magazine.

“As we are in total disagreement with Jesse Hughes’s recent allegations given in an interview with an American media [outlet], both Cabaret Vert and Rock en Seine festivals have decided to cancel the band’s performance,” the two festivals said in a joint statement.

It is completely unreasonable to expect a man who survived a horrific attack in which 90 people were killed to refrain from speculating over the nature of the assault which could have killed him. Just because the Bataclan theater disputes that staff at the Bataclan could have assisted in the attack, that doesn’t mean there is no possibility the terrorists had help.

Even if Muslim staff at the Bataclan specifically were involved in the attack, something we are not suggesting is true, that would still not mean that all Muslims were terrorists or that Islam is an evil religion or any such anti-Muslim theories. For Hughes to allege they might have been involved is evidence only that he is trying to make sense of what happened at his concert.

Clarion Project speaks with a soldier for the Nineveh Plain Protection Units about efforts to save Christians, Yazidis and others from genocid

A spokesman and soldier with an Assyrian Christian defense force in Iraq has a message for the people and church of America in an interview with the Clarion Project: We need your help if Christianity is to be saved in the Middle East.

Clarion Project spoke with Athra Kado, a media spokesman and soldier for the Nineveh Plain Protection Units (NPU) in Iraq, who described the group’s efforts to save Assyrian Christians, Yazidis and others from genocide.

Earlier this month, the NPU battled the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) in Telskuf alongside Kurdish forces backed by U.S. airpower. One U.S. Navy Seal was killed, who the NPU mourned and thanked as a “martyr.” The NPU posted pictures and videos from the fighting on its Facebook page, including footage of three of its wounded soldiers.

  20. Islamic Extremism in France Part III: Stemming the Tide
The enemy is global political Islam and not just a few thousand deviants that need to be neutralized or rehabilitated.

In April 2015, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said that a Salafist minority was “winning the ideological and cultural war” for control of Islam in France.

“Salafists account for 1% of Muslims in the country, but all you hear about is their message, the messages on social media,” Valls declared in a closing address in Paris to a conference on the populist exploitation of Islamism in Europe.

“There is an activist minority of Salafist groups that is winning the ideological and cultural war,” he added, endorsing the claim of his Urban Affairs Minister Patrick Kanner that “around a hundred” French neighborhoods presented “similarities” to the Molenbeek district of Brussels, reputed to be a jihadist enclave, although deeming that “comparisons are not easy to make.”

The Prime Minister had earlier stirred controversy by speaking of “geographical, social and ethnic apartheid” after the January 2015 attacks in Paris. He reckoned that in some districts in France “an essential job of reconquest of the secular republic” was needed.

The latest figures on operations enabled by the state of emergency show that these words are finally being translated into action: 3,549 police raids, 407 people placed under house arrest, 743 arms caches seized, 395 arrests and 344 people placed in detention.

One of the mosques closed was described by Interior Minister Bernard Cazenuve as “a hotbed of radical ideology.” The closure of the Lagny-sur-Marne mosque by administrative decree in December 2015 was confirmed by the Council of State, France’s highest court, in February 2016.

    SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) –

A Summerville High School student who says he was arrested and suspended after writing about killing a dinosaur using a gun in a class assignment has hired a lawyer.

Attorney David Aylor, who is representing 16-year-old Alex Stone, said his client’s arrest over a creative writing assignment on Tuesday was “completely absurd,” and is seeking to appeal the suspension and “proceed with the legal issues of [Stone’s] arrest.”

“This is a perfect example of ‘political correctness’ that has exceeded the boundaries of common sense,” Aylor said in a statement released on Thursday.”Students were asked to write about themselves and a creative Facebook status update – just days into the new school year – and my client was arrested and suspended after a school assignment.”

The Summerville Police Department who arrested Stone on Tuesday on a charge of disorderly conduct is disputing Stone’s account of his arrest.

“The information that is being reported is grossly incorrect in reference to what led to the juvenile being charged,” said Capt. Jon Rogers in a Summeville police statement released on Thursday.”The charges do not stem from anything involving a dinosaur or writing assignment, but the student’s conduct.”

Stone said he and his classmates were told in class to write a few sentences about themselves, and a “status” as if it was a Facebook page. Stone said in his “status” he wrote a fictional story that involved the words “gun” and “take care of business.”

“I killed my neighbor’s pet dinosaur, and, then, in the next status I said I bought the gun to take care of the business,” Stone said.

Stone says his statements were taken completely out of context.

Greek authorities began preparations for the shutting down of Idomeni refugee camp, on Monday. Police buses and coaches were visible on the camp’s periphery, ahead of Tuesday’s planned evacuation of the 12,000 refugees who are currently stranded in Idomeni.

Up to ten police squads have arrived from both Athens and Thessaloniki, setting up two checkpoints: one 20 kilometres (12 miles) from the camp, with a second installed just 2 kilometres (1,2 miles) from Idomeni. Only registered members of NGOs or journalists can pass are being allowed to pass the checkpoints.

  26. The Five Deceptions of Obama-Rhodes Echo Chamber

In his testimony last week before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, concerning the grand Iran deal deception described in a recent New York Times article that was carried out by Obama and Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes, Michael Doran, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, laid out five areas where the White House deceived the American people.

First, Doran in his testimony established that even before he became president, Obama had expressed an interest in rapprochement with Iran. He cited former CIA chief and Defense Secretary, Leon Panetta, from The New York Times expose on the echo chamber saying that the administration knew that “They’d have gotten “the [expletive] kicked out of them,” if they had been upfront about their intention to engage Iran.

    5) Blaming Allies.
Doran notes that the administation led as a whispering campaign faulting American allies such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar for supporting ISIS. But there was no similar campaign to blame Iran and Russia for “fueling the murder machine of the Syrian dictator, Bashar al-Assad.”

But “Rhodes has directed his most venomous whisper campaign of all at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,” who like America’s Sunni allies, wanted to see Iranian regional ambitions constrained, not encouraged. Doran summarized the form of attack against Netanyahu:

The preferred mode of attack, however, is asymmetric—to focus as little as possible on the differences between the two men on Iran and to stress, instead, their disagreements over Israeli-Palestinian diplomacy. Rhodes and his echo chamber spin a tale casting Netanyahu as the villain of the Middle East peace process, an arch nationalist with unseemly ties to the right wing of the Republican Party who refuses to make the necessary compromises to bring about an historic reconciliation with the Palestinians.

    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-36358300

“Hundreds of French petrol stations have run dry and the unions say five oil refineries are being blockaded as protesters fight against government labour reforms.

Queues were reported at petrol stations in many areas of France, especially in the north and west, but in Paris too.

However, the transport minister said it was wrong to talk of petrol shortages.

For the past week, protests have taken place across France after new labour rules were forced through parliament.

Prime Minister Manuel Valls invoked special powers under the constitution to avoid a revolt by dozens of Socialist MPs earlier this month….”

  28. German investigative police report increase in violent Islamists (DW, May 22, 2016)
    http://www.dw.com/en/german-investigative-police-report-increase-in-violent-islamists/a-19276271

“The German investigative police have reported a significant increase in Islamist threats. The agency tracked almost 500 threats in the past year.

Germany’s investigative police agency reported that the number of dangerous Islamists in Germany has risen sharply over the past year. In a report published in the Sunday edition of the German daily newspaper “Die Welt” the German Criminal Police Office (BKA) said it had tracked 497 instances of “threats” or individuals with extremist views who could be suspected of carrying out terrorist attacks. The agency added that an additional 339 Islamists were also being tracked as “relevant persons,” or individuals who may assist and sympathize with terrorist causes.

The report said that the development marked a significant increase from numbers dating back to January 2015, when only 270 potentially violent Islamist individuals were registered in Germany. A number of raids conducted across Germany in the past year contributed to yielding the results.

Austria’s domestic intelligence agency also reported several days earlier that the number of suspected Islamists in the country had risen, citing increased activity within the “Muslim Brotherhood” terrorist group. The “Kleine Zeitung” daily newspaper examined a particular increase in the state of Styria.

“Die Welt” added that the rise in numbers could pose a risk to the UEFA European Championship (Euros 16) due to be held in France next month, concretely referring to the self-styled “Islamic State” (IS) terror organization. It said that the soccer event could be considered a perfect opportunity for Islamists to cause “mass terror.”

The editor-in-chief of the French satirical magazine “Charlie Hebdo,” Gerard Biard, said that too much tolerance was partly to blame for the rise in Islamism across Europe, accusing the political left of being complicit. He said it was “scandalous” that leftwing movements were more interested in defending “Muslims wearing the Burka than in equal pay.”

“Islamic propaganda has managed to convince us that criticizing Islamism equates to criticizing Islam itself and therefore qualifies as racism,” Biard wrote in a speech cited in Berlin.

Eleven people, the majority of whom were Charlie Hebdo employees, were killed in January 2015 during an attack on the satirical publication after it had printed cartoons deemed to offend Mohammed, the founder of Islam.”

  29. Soros-Backed Group that Helped Sell Iran Nuclear Deal Funds Media, DC Think Tanks

TEL AVIV – A group that advocates a nuclear-free world and that was identified earlier this month by the White House as central in helping to market the Iran nuclear deal to the news media has funded National Public Radio since 2005, an Associated Press investigation has revealed.

Think tanks funded by the Ploughshares Fund include the Arms Control Association, Brookings Institution, and the Atlantic Council, the AP reported.

They sold us the communist Muslim Obama who became president twice. They sold Americans Obamacare. They sold us the Muslim Brotherhood as a worthy partner. They sold us the non-existing Iran deal.
They have rammed political correctness down our throats. They are pushing a genderless world, that Islam is a religion of peace, that ISIS has nothing to do with Islam, that Islamic terrorism does not exist, that the Syrian refugees, are refugees and are not a danger to our society, that the Arab/Israeli conflict is the cause of the ME turmoil, that it must be solved, that it is causing US soldiers to be killed etc.
That settlements are an obstacle to peace. And now with the aid of our military and leftist leaders, that Israel is fascist.
      All with lies.

      • I remember Obamacare and the Iran deal being forced down our throats over the screaming objections of the vast majority of the American public. Otherwise all true.

India would invest $500m (£344m) to develop the strategically important Chabahar port, close to Iran’s border with Pakistan, he said.

  31. Italy helps rescue 2,600 migrants from sea in 24 hours

Italian vessels have helped rescue more than 2,600 migrants from boats trying to reach Europe from North Africa in the last 24 hours, the coastguard said on Monday, indicating that numbers are rising as the weather warms up.

Some 2,000 migrants were rescued off the Libyan coast from 14 rubber dinghies and one larger boat in salvage operations by the Italian navy and coastguard, the medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres and an Irish navy vessel, the coastguard said.

Another 636 migrants were rescued from two boats in Maltese waters, in operations involving Maltese and Italian vessels, it said. It gave no information about the nationalities of those saved.

More than 31,000 migrants have reached Italy by boat so far this year, slightly fewer than in the same period of 2015.

Humanitarian organisations say the sea route between Libya and Italy is now the main route for asylum seekers heading for Europe, after an EU deal on migrants with Turkey dramatically slowed the flow of people reaching Greece.

Officials fear the numbers trying to make the crossing to southern Italy will increase as conditions improve in warmer weather.

More than 1.2 million Arab, African and Asian migrants fleeing war and poverty have streamed into the European Union since the start of last year.

Most of those trying to reach Italy leave the coast of lawless Libya on rickety fishing boats or rubber dinghies, heading for the Italian island of Lampedusa, which is close to Tunisia, or towards Sicily.

Mohamed Said Shoukair was believed to have lost contact with airspace operators, but French aviation sources today said he called in to say he was making ‘an emergency descent’ because of a fire.

The Airbus A320 flight MS804 plunged into the sea last Thursday while travelling from Paris to Cairo.

Sources in France said there was ‘conversation several minutes long’ between Captain Shoukair and the controllers, which amounted to ‘a distress call’.

“It is now official: 2015 smashed all records for political violence, as the far right attacked refugee homes and the far left responded by attacking them in turn, Interior Ministry figures show.

The crime statistics released by the Interior Ministry on Monday revealed that 39,000 politically motivated crimes were committed in 2015, a surge of almost 19 percent on the previous year.

A majority (23,000) of these crimes had a far-right motive behind them. That figure in itself is an astonishing 34.9 percent higher than in 2014.

Meanwhile 9,600 of the crimes were attributed to the far-left scene, a rise of more than 18 percent on the previous year.

Figures for political violence have been recorded separately from other crimes since 2001, and the 2015 stats are a new record high…”

  40. Sweden to launch its first state-funded imam course (thelocal, May 23, 2016)
    http://www.thelocal.se/20160523/sweden-to-launch-ifirst-state-funded-islamic-theology-course

“Sweden is to launch its first state-funded Islamic theology programme this autumn, which the course organizers hope will provide more locally-educated imams.

The one year course in Islamic theology and leadership will be provided by adult education centre Kista Folk High School (Kista Folkhögskola), situated in the north-west of the country’s capital.

The institution was awarded money from this year’s ‘folkbildningsanslaget’, a central government grant that is distributed annually to Sweden’s folk high schools.

The question over how Swedish imams should be educated has been debated previously. In 2008 the then education minister Lars Leijonborg made a proposal for state-run courses, arguing that they could serve as a way to counteract fundamentalist groups taking advantage of a lack of locally qualified imams…”

“BRUSSELS – European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker told a conference of EU parliament speakers Monday that “a continent of 508 million people should be able to integrate two million refugees”. “If the impression persists that Europe is not capable of correctly solving the refugee problem, this is not down to the European Commission or the Parliament,” Juncker added.

A majority on the European Council voted in favor of refugee relocation and resettlement, he said, adding that since the beginning of his term the European Commission had presented proposals to avoid unfairly burdening Mediterranean countries such as Italy, Malta and Cyprus.

“We expected members to enact those decisions but unfortunately this has not been the case in a certain number of countries,” Juncker said. “On the contrary, they chose the national, unilateral way, without prior or sufficient consultation” with the EU and other countries involved, he said. “

Brussels, May 23 – Islamist terrorists are infiltrating themselves among asylum seekers to enter the EU, Europol Counterterrorism Chief Manuel Navarrete Paniagua told a European Parliament civil liberties committee hearing on Monday.

“Terrorists are using the migrant flow to infiltrate the EU,” he said. “We don’t have systematic data, but we know they are doing so. This is why we need secondary checks at the member State level, especially in Greece and Italy”.

Europol has deployed officers alongside Frontex ones at hotspots on four Greek islands and Sicily to keep an eye out for possible terrorists, he added.

“However, member States are in charge… and they decide what to do with any suspects,” Navarrete Paniagua said.

“We must not let the terrorists victimize the migrants twice over,” he told MEPs. “First by forcing them to flee their homelands, and then by using them to infiltrate into the EU”.”
