1. NYC Muslims shocked when they were forced to obey the law

(The sophistry that is the most offensive is the idea that they “have to be here”. No, they don’t. In the Islamic State they have to attend prayers, this is true. Whether they are allowed to double park or not has not been reported but from video evidence, they can pray where they are, in their shops and so on. In the US, which has no mandatory religious practice yet, they do not “have to be here”. When Americans were conscripted to fight wars, they had to be there, but many chose not to be anyway and went to jail instead. These muslims have to be at that mosque for friday prayers the way wealthy woman have to be at a shoe store during a 50% off sale)

Devout New York City Muslim cabbies got a rude awakening when they got tickets for double-parking outside a Manhattan mosque while they were inside saying Friday prayers for Ramadan.

 

One officer single-handedly placed nearly 100 tickets on cabs parked in the vicinity of the Islamic Cultural Center in the city’s Upper West Side neighborhood, cab driver Mohammad Zaman told the New York Post.

 

“This is a special prayer time, a time for religion. We double-park here every Friday and they [allow it], but today they gave us all tickets, almost 100 cabs,’’ he said.

Zaman, who has been a worshiper at the mosque for nine years, was ticketed, and it wasn’t cheap: $115 for double-parking.

 

This has never happened ­before,’’ he told the Post. […] “I can’t help but to think they are being prejudiced. They don’t understand. We have to be here.”

3. Eating in public during Ramadan fast in Egypt not a crime: Interior ministry

(Egypt continues to show sanity)

A senior interior ministry official said on Sunday that there is no law in Egypt’s penal code that criminalises those who publicly eat or drink during Ramadan fasting hours.

The issue has been heavily discussed in the Egyptian media over the past few days after a report that 25 people were arrested in the upscale Fifth Settlement district just outside Cairo for eating and drinking in public.

Prosecution sources said they were arrested because “they didn’t take into account the feelings of other [fasters] and didn’t respect the holy month of Ramadan.”

Able-bodied, observant Muslims refrain from eating, drinking or smoking during daylight hours during the month of Ramadan, which started on 18 June this year.

3b. Meanwhile, in Iran: 92 arrested in restaurant during Ramadan

NCRI – Iranian security forces have raided a hotel restaurant and arrested 92 young men and women for eating and drinking ‘in public’ in the month of Ramadan.

The hotel in the northwestern city of Tabriz was raided on Monday. The restaurant manager along with 41 girls and 51 boys were arrested.

Ali Esmaeelpour, a senior state security forces official in the city, confirmed the arrests. Those detained were referred to the regime’s judiciary for sentencing.

Anyone in Iran caught eating or drinking in public during daytime in the month of Ramadan may receive 74 lashes in addition to a jail term of up to two months, judiciary officials of the regime have threatened.

5. Shortly, a speech will be posted by an artist from Sweden. One who has been jailed for hate speech, and as I understand it, was threatened for arrest yesterday at his speech in Malmo, because he unfurled a banner which read: “Islam is Fascism” which it clearly is in the rhetorical sense if not the dictionary sense. Which only goes to prove you can only call people fascists who are clearly not fascists like classical liberals. Then you get a government grant.
