A few thoughts and links for Christmas Day: Post 1 – 2014

1. I watched the movie, ‘The Interview’ last night on Youtube. It was in my opinion, a Netflix rating of 3 1/2 stars and had there been no controversy I wouldn’t have bothered. It had a few laughs but was mostly a collection of gay and innuendo jokes. But it was $6.00 for freedom and an interesting way to contribute to that goal. At least the movie makers had some clue about the real nature of that regime. After that I put on Anchorman 2 which is part of a basic Netflix subscription which was a lot funnier. Maybe the thing to do is rent The Interview so we can show support for freedom and against tyrannical regimes but watch Anchorman 2 if you’re pressed for time.

2. Here is a depressing video interview with the former prime minister of Sweden who is so inculcated with moral relativism that he literally doesn’t know if Sweden’s own history, people, values, laws and contiguity is better than any other foreign one. Really.

For more on this guy check this GoV post.

3. Turkish teen arrested for insulting president, could face up to 4 years in prison if convicted

Turkish media reports say a teenager was taken away from his school and detained by police for allegedly insulting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Hurriyet newspaper says the 16-year-old high-school student, identified only by his initials M.E.A., was arrested Wednesday in the central city of Konya for making a speech at a student protest a day earlier. The boy reportedly said Erdogan was regarded as the “thieving owner of the illegal palace” in reference to a government corruption scandal as well as a controversial 1,150-room new palace Erdogan inaugurated in October.

(Erdogan builds a palace with over 1000 rooms with funds stolen from the public treasury and then arrests a child who points it out in high school with the possibility of 4 years jail. Next time someone tells you how bad PM. Harper is, I suggest we use this to help develop a sense of scale)

4. Father gives 13-year-old daughter to Boko Haram

(Read this one at source. No excerpt can do it justice)

5. Saudi terrorism court ‘to try women drivers’

(Parking I understand. But a terrorism court for driving?)

7. Pope condemns Islamic State, decries suffering of children

VATICAN CITY, Dec 25 (Reuters) – Pope Francis on Thursday condemned the “brutal persecution” of minorities by Islamic State insurgents and said the joy of Christmas was marred by the suffering of children in the Middle East and around the world.

Tens of thousands of people flocked to St. Peter’s Square to hear the Argentine pope deliver his “Urbi et Orbi” (to the city and the world) blessing and message, marking the second Christmas since his election last year.

8. Europe’s brutal African borders ‘a tragedy’

Every week, hundreds of Africans try to scramble over the high fences that encircle Ceuta and Melilla, two Spanish-ruled enclaves on the northern tip of Morocco.

Countless migrants and security officers are injured as the Moroccan military, on one side, and a few hundred Spanish police on the other, chase Africans seeking to cross.

Spain has ruled the two tiny territories — barely 30 square kilometres of land between them — for hundreds of years, defying Morocco’s claims to them.

Spain insists it has the right to defend the territories and the 170,000 Spaniards living in them — notably against the threat of Islamic extremists crossing the border from Morocco.

Thank you M., Fjordman, UK Pete, Maria J. and all.

I would like to add a note of my own.

Dear readers, first let me wish you all a warm wonderful day. Even if there is the kind of horror we are used to from our muslim planetary co-inhabitants, don’t let it spoil your family peace. Enjoy the day with all the promise and hope it brings.

In fact I even give thanks to islam and am humbled in this way.

Islam has taught me how truly amazing the rest of humanity is. For my whole life I have taken for granted a fair system of justice as if I was owed it. In fact it took the blood and treasure of millions upon countless millions to bring that about, not counting the hundreds of millions who have endured the harshness of theocracies and totalitarian regimes past and present. When I think about how the times and place I grew up in offered countless opportunities and freedoms and second and third chances I realize how I have enjoyed what was in some ways certainly the pinnacle of civilization or at worst, just past the hump of it.

Islam shows us one of the default conditions of humanity. Thuggery, brutality, piracy, and superstition used to turn their fellow man and woman into the most basic of commodities without even the rights a civilized society offers a farm animal.

It truly humbles me when I stop and think about how amazing the tiny bright spot of civilization is that we live in, and one brought about by assuming the dignity of man, and assigning and protecting genuine rights.

Sometimes it takes losing those rights or recognizing the potential loss of them to make one realize these are not natural conditions.

Merry Christmas to all who read this site, friend or foe.

  1. Merry Christmas Eeyore.
I read your blog every day without fail and enjoy it immensely in an angry ,disapointed yet enlightened way.
Your message sums up alot of what I often think and in basic terms it is that we live in an imperfect but great society in the west and it is being made worse not better by the introduction of Islam.
The Swedish politician is a brain dead dick!
What was wrong with Sweden and the west forty years ago? No one ever asks these guys this. It is a simple question . I would love to hear an answer other than we need to grow our populations as we are not having enough children.
Well here is one for you you bell-ends!!!
Encourage the native population to have children. Give a decent working wage so one partner can look after the kids , with decent tax breaks instead of the welfare being spent on new comers.
If that is racist then fine. I am a racist. I know many decent people of colour but it doesnt mean I want my grandchildrrn speaking bloody Urdu in forty years.
    HAVE a good one mate.

  2. Merry Christmas, Eeyor.

The freedom to say that, or xmas, or not at all, is for the offence of non and the freedom to love your God with all your heart, mind and soul with a counter-point that others love theirs. Those that chose to be offended do not know what the Greek writers were telling the Jews, and for that matter any other ideologies that claimed to know God on their sleeves and badges.

What may have started as politically pragmatic, placing a good man in extraordinary circumstances, soon gained its own notoriety to be hijacked by Emperor Constantine to have bourne the dour humourlessness of Islam, Socialism and Communism, for Christianity was in each of those countries, but their sickness of Pagan Worship and tiers of Priests allowed these unwholey viruses to flourish.

Raise a glass therefore to mothers and fathers, and the motherless and fatherless, that they be protected by those who love the teachings revealed and accorded to Jesus, to protect the innocents who already have the kingdom of god.

The truth sets you free, and there is another just like it, to love your neighbor as yourself.

Merry Christmas to all, and long may we celebrate the birth of a special gift of an idea that we see with two eyes, two minds, male and female, and not with only one. x

  3. Merry Christmas, Eeyore. Merry Christmas to all those who regularly read and comment on Vlad Tepes. This is important. The world today is like a terminal alcoholic who doesn’t think he has a problem because he is in a state of denial – and it’s killing him. It’s as simple as that. If I can get just one person to stop and look at the facts for just one moment, then it’s worth it because I have just increased my voting-power by 100%!

Just keep trudging along chanting “Truth is akbar” as you fire your weapon toward the sound of battle…
