The hostage taking is over.

Apparently there is a Twitter campaign to post your public transit schedule so that muslims can ride with you in case of a never-happening backlash against the people who openly adhere to the ideology which causes all the terrorism in the world. I believe, not fully understanding how Twitter works, that it involves something that looks like #illridewithyou

I wonder if these people understand that it is in more than one way, a near equivalent to #illstrapmyselftothefrontofanazitankasahumanshield

Perhaps people should try trending #stopterrorism or #assimilateormove

But these would be too rational for our culturally marxist times where the optics are currency and the truth is illegal.

By the way, there is a rumor floating around that Lindt, the company that owns that cafe, refused to do halal certification. If this is true, I think I know what to get people for Christmas.

  2. How about radical internationalist leftist freaks “must” be unmasked… How do you like that Mr Maas?

Germany tense over anti-Islam ‘Pegida’ march in Dresden (BBC, Dec 15, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-30478321

“A march against “Islamisation of the West” is due to take place in Dresden, with turnout expected to reach about 10,000 in the eastern German city.

A big counter-demonstration is also being organised, similar in size.

Dresden is the birthplace of a movement called “Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the West” (Pegida), which staged a big rally a week ago.

Justice Minister Heiko Maas called Pegida’s protests “a disgrace”. But the Eurosceptic party AfD is sympathetic.

“Most of their demands are legitimate,” said Bernd Lucke, leader of the conservative Alternativ fuer Deutschland (AfD), which has campaigned for a tougher policy on immigration, as well as rejection of the euro.

In the western city of Cologne, about 15,000 people attended a demonstration on Sunday to promote tolerance and open-mindedness, under the motto: “You are Cologne – no Nazis here.”

Immigration has become a hot topic in Germany this year, amid a surge in the numbers of asylum seekers, fuelled by the wars in Syria and Iraq. Germany takes in more asylum seekers than any other country.

Germany expects 200,000 asylum claims for 2014, up from 127,000 in 2013.

German media report that Pegida grew out of a Facebook group launched by Lutz Bachmann, 41, a chef-turned-graphic designer. He insists that he is not racist. He has admitted to past criminal convictions, including for drug-dealing. He says he spent two years in prison.

The AfD leader in Dresden, Frauke Petry, said Pegida “is protesting against inadequate legislation on asylum rights – they are also demanding that German law be applied against law-breakers, and they are opposing religious extremism”.

The centre-left Social Democrats (SPD) – in the ruling coalition with Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats – called Pegida’s organisers “Nazis in pinstripes”.

Police sources, quoted by the Spiegel online news website, said hundreds of Pegida activists in Dresden were members of two hooligan groups regarded as far-right.

Minister Maas said Pegida must be “unmasked”, and he called for a “broad counter-movement embracing civil society and all political parties”.”

  3. Syria conflict: Rebels capture key Idlib army bases (BBC, Dec 15, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-30476609

“Al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria and allied rebel groups have taken control of two key army bases in the northern province of Idlib, activists say.

Members of al-Nusra Front, supported by those from Jund al-Aqsa, captured Wadi al-Deif base on Monday after launching a fierce offensive on Sunday morning.

Ahrar al-Sham later joined their assault on the nearby Hamidiya base.

Forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad had until now managed to repel a number of assaults on the facilities.

Situated outside the town of Maarat al-Numan and next to the country’s main north-south motorway, they have been surrounded since 2012.

A Twitter account run by al-Nusra declared on Monday morning that “Wadi al-Deif was completely liberated” and said the group was now removing mines.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based activist group, said at least 31 government soldiers and 12 members of al-Nusra and Jund al-Aqsa had been killed in the fighting….”

  4. Libyan troops clash over oil ports Ras Lanuf and Sidra (BBC, Dec 15, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-30473357

“Rival Libyan troops have clashed over two of the country’s main oil terminals for a second day, leading to their closure.

The Ras Lanuf and Sidra terminals were closed on Saturday after pro-government forces clashed with rival militias who control most of western Libya.

At least five people were killed in the fighting on Saturday.

Libya has been plagued by instability and infighting since the toppling of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

Forces allied to the Libya Dawn movement, which controls the capital Tripoli and most of western Libya, launched a surprise assault on the oil facilities on Saturday.

The facilities are controlled by fighters loyal to the elected Libyan government, which currently sits in the eastern city of Tobruk.

There are conflicting reports over whether the Libya Dawn fighters were able to gain control of the oil terminals….”

  5. Turkey media arrests: Erdogan rejects EU criticism (BBC, Dec 15, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-30484729

“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has lashed out at the European Union after it criticised the mass arrest of opposition journalists at the weekend.

“The EU should mind its own business and keep its own opinions to itself,” Mr Erdogan said, denying that the raids had infringed press freedom.

EU leaders have said the arrests were incompatible with “European values”.

At least 24 journalists said to have close links with a US-based cleric are being held for plotting to seize power.

Sunday’s raids targeted the Zaman newspaper and Samanyolu TV channel, which are described as close to Islamic cleric Fethullah Gulen, the spiritual leader of the Hizmet movement.

A former ally of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Mr Gulen – who lives in self-imposed exile – is accused of running a “parallel state” within Turkey.

In a statement, EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini and Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn said any move towards membership depended on “full respect for the rule of law and fundamental rights”.

The raids and arrests “are incompatible with the freedom of media, which is a core principle of democracy”, the pair said in a statement…”
