“A man suspected of running a pro-ISIS Twitter account was arrested Saturday, the police chief for the Indian city of Bangalore said. Mehdi Masroor Biswas reportedly confessed to operating the ISIS-friendly @ShamiWitness account before it was recently shut down. The 24-year-old was charged with waging a war or abetting the waging of war against powers friendly to India, police commissioner M.N. Reddi said. He is also charged under prevention of unlawful activities and anti-cyber crime laws, Reddi said. Biswas is expected to appear in court in 24 hours. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison, according to the police official. He described Biswas as an ISIS “sympathizer.” An electrical engineer by training, Biswas was working as an executive in a food company until this week, Reddi said. Two bombs explosions at a market in the central Nigerian city of Jos left 32 people dead, a government agency reported, marking the latest instance of violence to hit the volatile region. Nigeria’s state broadcaster NTA reported the explosions took place Thursday at the terminus area of the Jos market. According to Mohammed Adams, a security guard there, a young man walked into the market with a small cart claiming he was carrying yams. He kept moving before detonating one device, killing at least two people.
People chased him, but couldn’t stop him before he managed to blow himself up, Adams said. The security guard initially told CNN that at least 12 people were dead. On Friday, Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency said that the bomb blasts killed 32 people and injured 45 others. It was not immediately clear if the bomber was among those counted as dead…”

“Islamic State group militants shot down an Iraqi military helicopter, officials said Saturday, killing the two pilots onboard and raising fresh concerns about the extremists’ ability to attack aircraft amid ongoing U.S.-led coalition airstrikes.
The attack happened late Friday in the Shiite holy city of Samarra, about 95 kilometers (60 miles) north of Baghdad. A senior Defense Ministry official told The Associated Press the Sunni militants used a shoulder-fired rocket launcher to shoot down the EC635 helicopter on the outskirts of the city.
An army official corroborated the information. Both spoke on condition of anonymity as they weren’t authorized to speak to journalists.
The EC635, built by Airbus Helicopters, is used for transportation, surveillance and combat.
The militants shot down at least two other Iraqi military helicopters near the city of Beiji in October. Some fear the militants may have captured ground-to-air missiles capable of shooting down airplanes when they overran Iraqi and Syrian army bases this summer.
