4. Koran should be read at Prince Charles’ coronation says top bishop: Critics attack proposal and accuse Church of England of ‘losing confidence’ in its own traditions

(personally I would rather they read Psalm 23 than read Koran at said event)

Prince Charles’s coronation service should be opened with a reading from the Koran, a senior Church of England bishop said yesterday.

The gesture would be a ‘creative act of accommodation’ to make Muslims feel ‘embraced’ by the nation, Lord Harries of Pentregarth said.

But critics attacked the idea, accusing the Church of ‘losing confidence’ in its own institutions and traditions.

Lord Harries, a former Bishop of Oxford and a leading CofE liberal thinker, said he was sure Charles’s coronation would give scope to leaders of non-Christian religions to give their blessing to the new King.

5. University chaplains resign over changes to office and Muslim prayer space

Decision-making process called into question; University says student needs were their priority

Western’s longest-serving chaplain, along with four of his colleagues, has resigned in protest over the recently announced move of the Chaplains’ Services offices and a dedicated Muslim prayer space in the University Community Centre.

Rev. Michael Bechard, Western’s Roman Catholic chaplain, submitted his resignation and those of Janet Loo, Annette Donovan Panchaud, Melissa Page Nichols and Maija Wilson from the UWO Chaplains’ Association, to University President Amit Chakma on Friday.

The University announced last week that the current Muslim prayer room in University College would be moved along with the Chaplains’ Services offices to one space in the basement of the UCC. In addition, the current multi-faith space in the UCC will no longer be used. […]

“I am uneasy with the fact that the university is providing a dedicated space to the Muslim community when such privileges are not being granted to any other body,” he said.

(I highly doubt it was ever about student needs as much as social engineering against Christians)

7. London: Woman, 22, charged with encouraging terrorism on Twitter

(If found guilty she may be sentenced to a larger council flat and a doubling of her monthly benefits as mandatory participation in British Muslim outreach)

Esayed was released on bail and will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on December 10.

]She has been charged with two offences under the Terrorism Act: encouraging terrorism, and the dissemination of terrorist publications. She was originally arrested in June.

It is alleged that between June 2013 and May 2014, ‘she intended, or was reckless as to whether, members of the public would be directly or indirectly encouraged or otherwise induced by the statement to commit, prepare or instigate acts of terrorism or convention offences’.

Thank you M., Wrath of Khan, UK Pete and all. Lots of stuff today. Pity.

  1. 2/ Islam can’t be fixed by tinkering with it here and there. It’s not some great ancient engine of peace that just needs an oil change and the carburetor cleaned to be put right again. National Socialism doesn’t become liberal democracy with a few different slogans.

  2. Islamic State: Syria says air strikes not hurting group (BBC, Nov 29, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-30257783

“Two months of US-led air strikes have failed to weaken Islamic State (IS) militants, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem has said.

A US-led coalition has carried out nearly 300 air strikes in Syria since September.

Mr Moualem told Lebanese TV the only way to tackle IS was to force Turkey to tighten border controls to stop foreign fighters crossing into Syria.

IS controls large swathes of both Syria and neighbouring Iraq.

The BBC’s Jim Muir says the air strikes have been widely credited with helping to halt the advance of IS fighters on the border town of Kobane in northern Syria….”

  3. #BBCTrending: Filipina maid rescued after video plea (BBC, Nov 29, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-trending-30251590

“An emotional plea for help by a maid in Saudi Arabia has fanned the flames of the debate about conditions for domestic workers in the Gulf.

Nargelene Mendez, originally from the Philippines, posted a video to her Facebook page showing the pantry where she slept and talking about being abused by her employer, a retired police officer.

“They beat my colleague yesterday,” she says. “They also beat me. Please help us. I’m begging you.”

The video hit a nerve and was shared widely not only in the Philippines – home to millions of people who travel to the Middle East in search of work – but also in Spain, the US and the Gulf itself. The original post now has nearly half a million views.

Many of the comments on the version posted on YouTube were in Arabic.

“One day we might be in their shoes, these foreigners we mistreat,” one user said, although others were less sympathetic.

  4. India: Pakistani Agencies Backing Terror Groups (abcnews, Nov 29, 2014)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/india-pakistan-agencies-backing-terror-groups-27247626

“India’s home minister hit out at Pakistan on Saturday, accusing its state agencies of using terror to try to destabilize India, and rejecting Pakistan’s assertion that non-state actors are involved in terrorism.

“Pakistan is continuously engaged in destabilizing India, but says non-state actors are behind the acts of terror. I want to ask Pakistan if its Inter-Services Intelligence is also a non-state actor,” Rajnath Singh said, referring to Pakistan’s national intelligence agency.

Singh, the second-most powerful official in India after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was addressing the heads of Indian police, paramilitary and intelligence agencies who were meeting in Guwahati, the main city in the remote northeastern state of Assam.

There was no immediate reaction to Singh’s remarks from Pakistan.

India has long accused Pakistan of fomenting conflict by arming and training anti-India militants in the disputed region of Kashmir. Islamabad says it only provides them moral and diplomatic support.

Singh’s comments came two days after heavily armed militants fought a fierce gunbattle with Indian soldiers in which at least 10 people, including four militants, were killed. Indian army officials said the rebels were attempting to infiltrate into Indian Kashmir before Himalayan mountain passes shut down with the onset of winter….”

UAE Official Visits Qatar in Sign of Mended Ties (abcnews, Nov 29, 2014)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/uae-official-visits-qatar-sign-mended-ties-27247432

“A senior United Arab Emirates official has held talks with the Qatari emir in Doha in the highest level meeting between the two Gulf neighbors since a diplomatic spat erupted earlier this year.

State news media in the two countries said Friday’s meeting between Emirati Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani aimed to enhance ties.

Sheikh Mohammed is crown prince of the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi. He plays an active role in the running of the country and is next in line to succeed his half-brother, Emirati President Sheik Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is recovering from a stroke.

The Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain recently agreed to reinstate their ambassadors to Qatar after recalling them earlier this year.”

  6. 4. Well done Vlad, let’s see if The King of Subjects should use this psalm 23

“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.”

Well, that set’s the relationship: The parent-child: I give up to Allah and He takes care of me.

“He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,”

When you submit and say “yes boss” you got no other worries except Massa be displeased when the farmhand says so.

    “he restores my soul.”.

He realigns your mind so your soul is now his. Look alike, sound alike, do alike.

“He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

Allahuakbar! Halal-Haram is the simple life for me – quiet woman!

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. ”

Nothing can get through to me, the kafir will be slain because I am of the True Faith. Blow my brains out if it is God-Willing.

5 “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”

I am entitled, superior, always envied.

“Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,”

    Narcissist.

“and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”

Just one level below Satan. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+4%3A8-9&version=NIV

  7. #4 Funny how UK’s other citizens of other minority faiths, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism etc… are not given the same consideration at the coronation. The minorities that do not cause trouble are ignored, while the one that causes the most is given such preferential treatment.

    • Yes, and it’s an indirect way of admitting that Muslims are a problem. They obviously don’t feel the need to appease Sikhs, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews and so on because these people are not committing terrorist attacks.
No matter how much these deluded Liberals insist that there Islam is peaceful and there is no problem with the religion, their desire to appease it shows that they are aware deep down that Islam IS a problem.

  8. Libya’s Haftar pledges to take imminent control of Benghazi and Tripoli

The formerly retired army general has said his forces will takeover Benghazi in two weeks and the capital Tripoli in three months

Haftar returned to Libya in 2011, after nearly 20 years living in the US, to join rebel forces in toppling Muammar Gaddafi, under who he served as an army general until the late 1980s. He is allied closely with the HoR, which was popularly elected in June but ruled illegal by Tripoli’s Supreme Court earlier this month.

The HoR is based in the eastern town of Tobruk, after being forced to abandon sitting in Benghazi due to an ongoing battle for the city between Haftar and various militias.

On Friday Haftar pledged to launch a full-blown assault on Tripoli, which was seized control of by the Misratan Led Alliance (MLA) of Libya Dawn in August, after a spate of recent air attacks on the city.

“For Tripoli we are only at the beginning,” he told the Italian daily Corriere della Sera. “We need more men and more supplies and weaponry.”

[…]Haftar did not reveal whether he was receiving outside help in bombing Libya Dawn but admitted weapons have been given to his forces by regional allies.

“Egypt, Algeria, the Emirates and Saudi Arabia have sent us arms and ammunitions, but only their older technology,” he said.

Haftar ended his interview on Friday by warning of the danger facing Europe if militant groups, including Ansar al-Sharia, were to prevail in Libya.

“The real danger comes from the fundamentalists who want to impose their will everywhere. If Ansar al-Sharia takes power here, the threat will come to you in Europe, in your houses.”

    • I’d advise against hasty trades. Especially after broadcasting their intentions. It can’t be kept secret, but there’s no need to bid it up from the get-go.

People forget that precious metals can behave like commodities. The Swiss have such high reserves they can take it bit-by-bit.

On the whole, I think repatriation of some loot is a good idea. Valuation of energy products in petrodollars is about to end. Russia could do a deal with China in gold or anything-but-dollars, and we’d be dead in the water.

The vulnerability of the US-dollar is not as scary as an EMP-attack, but it’s in the same orbit.

      • This is what the people who say we will never go back to any type of precious metal backed currency forget or ignore, any time any nations paper/feit currency is the words trading medium it is possible to attack and damage that country by attacking the currency. However when you use precious metals you are pretty sure what you are getting.

        • Yeah. Only thing’s the opportunity cost.

My dearest ones from concentration camp always put whatever they earned here in gold. Great, loud fights with their son: “Never sell, never sell.”

They lost an awful lot of money that way. When times favored mutual funds, even conservative utilities, they wouldn’t invest in anything but gold.

        • When gold hit a big high in the summer, lots of people were being scammed by gold covered bars of tungsten, which has roughly the same specific gravity so it might pass most non-destructive tests. Scratch tests would also be OK because it was 4 9s fine on the surface. So you would get an OK from a basic acid test. But this means that a 10 troy Oz. bar of gold would actually be something like 1 Oz. gold and the rest tungsten.

  9. I think the 23rd Psalm would be perfect for the burial service of the British independence and freedom. We all know that is what will happen with Charles in charge.

    • Their Lord’s my shepherd I’ll (by submission then) not want, the State’s my mother and I’ll not care, and my fantasy’s my identity I’ll feast at lent.

        • What does that mean? Really? Life is only a Mexican Stand-off? Are we only protected knowing that offending, ‘dissing,’

Truer is ‘I’ll perceive my way and you’ll perceive yours, until one of us make an error in reality, or the other fights a heavenly cause.’

        • If we are happy to point out the source of Islamic violence, and call their God a Pacifier, the shelter under which evil is done in His Name; and do not look at our trinity of comforters of Communist Spartan, and Socialist- each with their vileness towards children where now in a Nativity movie the teacher is viewed as the authority figure and not the father – the peace where there is no peace where Don Laird points out they are trying to kill us (and I would sat they all are)- this is why reality has to wake up or else the extremists will rule and give us our sleeping medicine. Hence the British Establishment want to become head of the church again in this game.

        • See also the St Davids who sleep with other men’s wives:

‘The State is my shepherd, I’ll not want…” Sung by the Kremlin Koristers.

Or the Symphonic sycophants rendering of
The lust for my shepherd, is all I want…”

Why should those in their hypnosis of self-destruction and crying out for their God’s to quench them, have you dancing to their songs of submission?

Psalm 23 says everything about the author and sympathisers in their mess, and their sucking off a projection of a Greater Intelligence bestowing favours on those who ‘give it up’ to them.

Having walked among the trinity of believers, not only are they a danger to themselves, they are in the hands of their Leaders a destruction to civilization.

For them The Spirit is a monolith vibrating a signal to destroy all unbelievers. 2001 a space idiocity.

        • A Swiss mountain travel car suddenly stops and the inhabitants panic as it starts to slip from its line.

A man gets on his knees and prays to his Positivity Discriminated God.
A woman starts shaking her body and appealing to the Universal Mind of Collectivism.
A Sexuality starts shagging his dog because that is how he caves in to the pressure of stress.
Each to the construct of one mind.

The three-minded person looks up, opens the escape hatch and sends the child up with their belt tied around theirs to climb onto the cable.

The God’s of the Servants look on.

The cable car drops and the Pray-er, Shaker and Shagger look up aghast, imploring a word, a blessing, a curse, anything of approval or offense to comfort them.

        • I wonder whether many of the millions to whom the psalm has been so important over the centuries won’t have been reading it more or less as they wanted to anyhow? I found this without much looking:

          Psalm 23 for Airmen

The Lord is my Sky Pilot,
          I will not be afraid.
He lets me fly over green pastures
And guides me across clear skies
          As He refreshes my soul.
He elevates me to the Sun above the clouds,
          Where His name is exalted.
Even though I fly over the valley of shadow of death,
          I will fear no fall;
          For You are with me,
          Your stick and compass
          They bring me in.
You prepare a landing for me
In the presence of adverse conditions.
You bless my flight with ample fuel
          And my plane flies perfectly.
Surely good times and joy will follow me
All the flying hours of my life,
Then I will fly skies forever.

The Wikipedia page for Todd Beamer says he recited Psalm 23 along with the Lord’s Prayer before going for the United 93 hijackers with other brave passengers. I would hazard a guess it has been a source of inspiration and strength to many soldiers who I would further hazard somehow did not understand themselves, in the context of the verse, as mere sheep for the slaughter. Some of the effect must come from the comfort of the sheer familiarity of phrases and images, at least in English.

        • It means that you have the freedom and free will to think what you want and I have the same freedom to think what I want. What is so hard to understand?

  10. CHINA – Fifteen dead, 14 hurt in attack in China’s Xinjiang: Xinhua

Fifteen people were killed when a group threw explosives into a crowded street where vendors were selling food in China’s restive region of Xinjiang, the official Xinhua news agency said on Saturday.

Eleven were attackers who were killed by the police, the agency said, and 14 people were injured. The attackers also stabbed people in Friday’s attack in Shache County, state-owned Xinjiang news website Tianshan News said.

It said police found detonation devices, large knives and axes at the scene.

Deadly attacks in the north-western region in recent years have left hundreds dead. The government has mostly blamed attacks on ethnic Uighur separatists, who it says want to form an independent country called East Turkestan.

Heavy restrictions on journalists in Xinjiang have made verifying details about such incidents difficult.

Knife-wielding attackers killed 38 people in an incident in Shache County in July. A local court sentenced 12 of the attackers to death in October.

China has tightened its controls over the region as unrest grows. On Friday, the Xinjiang People’s Congress passed a regulation banning people from wearing or forcing others to wear logos or clothes associated with religious extremism, state-backed newspaper China Daily reported on Saturday.
