Ottawa: Day one of self blinkered denial. Links 1 for Oct. 23 – 2014

Earlier today I had an interesting discussion with a Lebanese Christian who explained to me that in 1973 and 74, muslims attacked lone soldiers in Lebanon here and there exactly like we see now here in Canada. By 1975 they were at full out war with muslims. Of course, we here in Canada don’t have muslim countries on our border in the strictest of senses, so we won’t be attacked in quite the same way.

(No name given yet of the man arrested)

2. “Canadians know what took place yesterday was a criminal act, not a religious act,” -Justin Trudeau

(It is worth clicking over to see the standing ovation given to the Sgt. at arms who shot the muslim terrorist who’s father was also a muslim terrorist who waged jihad in Libya, by all the members of the Canadian Parliament who knew for a cold hard fact he had saves some of their lives yesterday with his weapon and his skill)

3. Video: Father Helps ISIS Militants Stone Daughter as per Sharia

A young Syrian woman, accused of adultery, was sentenced to be stoned to death. Her father zealously helped carry out the death sentence.

4. America’s “Most Influential Muslim” Endorses Sharia Law

He and 17 other Muslim-American leaders signed a letter condemning the tactics of the Islamic State terrorist group and offering theological rebuttals. It is a letter that earned them tremendous positive publicity by news outlets that didn’t notice that the letter endorsed the resurrection of the Caliphate and Sharia governance, specifically its brutal hudud punishments.

Hudud punishments are fixed in the Qu’ran and Hadith and are unquestionably obligatory in Islamic Law,” point 16 of the letter states.

It also used vague language that could justify other acts of terrorism, such as attacks by Hamas on Israel. The condemnation of the Islamic State’s targeting of American journalists contains an exception that approves of jihad against reporters they view as dishonest.

5. Nigeria’s Boko Haram ‘abducts more women and girls’

Boko Haram militants from a video released by the groupAccording to residents, a large group of insurgents attacked the two villages on Saturday

Dozens of women and girls from two villages in Nigeria’s north-eastern Adamawa state have been abducted by suspected militants, residents say.

6. This is way off topic in most ways. But it does speak to people’s sense of urgency to cling to a cherished belief, whether it is that all three great Abrahamic religions are basically the same, or that man is destroying the planet through CO2, or that organic food is somehow important. Make sure you turn on the cc button for the English subtitles.

8. The usual suspects, Choudary and the lot, in the UK discussing the expansion of the Caliphate into the rest of the middle east and Europe.

Thank you M., Richard, TL., UK Pete, Buck, Wrath of Khan, and many more. Stay tuned. More to come. This morning’s Lowell Green show had some excellent calls. I am waiting till the show goes online to grab them. For those that want to hear the whole show at CFRA.com check out the caller, ‘Joanne’ who nailed it all.

  1. Ottawa shooting: Harper’s pro-US agenda has turned Canada into a target – and divided society

Nelofer Pazira is a Canadian [ Muslim ] journalist

The impact of the country’s participation in the US-led war against Isis has already been felt
[…]A multicultural society which prided itself on tolerance became divided when the Conservative government put a number of Muslims on a “watch list” in addition to announcing three weeks ago that it would send 600 special forces members along with fighter jets to support the US effort in their fight against Isis in Iraq.

[…]Canada has a large Muslim population – more than 2 per cent are Canadian citizens – but the word “radicalised” only came into use recently when the Harper government revealed it believed that about 30 young Canadians had gone to support Isis.

[…]One parliamentary worker described the armed man as having an Arab appearance with long hair and a beard. Canadian Muslims will be among the first to express their concern if this proves true.

[…]Harper’s pro-American policies appear to have turned Canada – and indeed the seat of political power in the capital Ottawa – into a target.

[…]Now Canadians will not only be worried about travelling to Europe, America or the Middle East – but wondering if they’re even safe inside their own homes.

[…]Since 9/11, many Muslims in the country have offered to work in government security in order to prevent incidents like those this week. How long this co-operation will continue now that Canada is in action in Iraq is another question.

  2. Boeing books first sales to Iran since 1979

Boeing said on Wednesday it had sold aircraft-related goods to Iran Air in the third quarter, marking the first acknowledged dealings between U.S. aerospace companies and Iran since the 1979 U.S. hostage crisis.

The Chicago-based aerospace and defense company said in a filing that it sold aircraft manuals, drawings, navigation charts and data to Iran Air to help improve the safety of Iran’s civil aviation industry.

The sales did not include spare parts for aircraft, which were thought to be likely since Iran Air’s fleet of planes includes vintage Boeing and Airbus jetliners delivered as long ago as 1978.

Boeing and General Electric (GE.N) said in April that they had received export licenses from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control allowing them to sell parts for commercial aircraft to Iran under a temporary sanctions relief deal that began in January.

Boeing said it may sell parts in the future but declined further comment. The sales generated about $120,000 in revenue and about $12,000 in net profit in the quarter, miniscule amounts for a company that reported $23.7 billion in sales in the latest quarter.

Iran agreed in November 2013 to curtail nuclear activities for six months from Jan. 20, 2014, in exchange for sanctions relief from Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States.

  3. 8/ Is that what he got himself detained over? Because there would certainly seem to be grounds for arrest there – sedition, incitement or some other charge, it can’t require much legal creativity in a state that can haul someone in for quoting Churchill in public. But the video was posted Oct. 16, which must be after Choudary’s visit from the police, suggesting there is still no issue propagandizing online for Islamic State in Britain.

  4. A fact that you should have mentioned is that when the attacks on Lebanese police started it was a Christian majority nation and considered the Switzerland of the middle east. Look at it now.
