Prime Minister Tony Abbott wants to ban Hizb ut-Tahrir, and has called them un-Islamic.

Sheik Ismail al-Wahwah mocked him for this.

“He’s a mufti too? He is takfir.” The word “takfir” signifies an “unbeliever” and the sheik is right — Tony Abbott is no authority on Islam.

For more than a decade governments have replaced the word “Islamist” with “terrorist” to avoid offending the religious or fuelling bigotry against innocent Muslims.

Sheik al-Wahwah said the police even asked him to wipe “blessed” from the meeting title “War to end a blessed revolution”.

4. ISIS forces launch multiple attacks on Kurdish territory in Iraq, officials say

CNN) — ISIS militants launched about 15 near-simultaneous attacks on Kurdish forces in northern Iraq on Monday in what Kurdish government officials and the news agency Rudaw said was a fierce and renewed push for territory.

ISIS also launched attacks against Mosul Dam, a strategic prize, and also renewed its offensive on the Sinjar mountain range in northern Iraq.

5. ITV News investigation finds hundreds of child abusers walking free in Manchester due to police failings

Hundreds of child abusers are walking the streets of Manchester because police have failed to investigate claims of abuse, an ITV News investigation has found.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has been accused of covering up their failure to act on claims that gangs of Asian men abused young white girls over a 10-year period.

Victims say they have identified offenders but police have been reluctant to act.

Two former detectives have told ITV News that senior officers were not interested in following up allegations because the crime is “difficult to prosecute”.

GMP Chief Constable Sir Peter Fahy agreed that child sexual exploitation is a difficult crime to prosecute and claimed his officers “developed a mindset that victims in these sorts of cases would always been unreliable.”

6. ‘Apprentice jihadists’ train in French park

When officers got to the park they found at least six people “training for Jihad”, police sources told RTL radio this week.

The police had been called to the scene by local residents who had reportedly witnessed “bearded men dressed in djellabas” taking part in combat training in the park.

Croissants may look harmless, but a sharia committee overseeing a rebel-held area of Aleppo thinks otherwise. The judicial committee, Hayaa al-Sharia, banned Syrians from consuming the flaky pastries earlier this week. The committee isn’t taking a page out of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s book and banning croissants for their impressive calorie count, however — the committee announced that the moon-shaped pastry “celebrates European victory over Muslims,” Al Arabiya reported. Syria was a French colony until the mid-twentieth century.
