Islamic adventures across the globe: Links 3 for Sept. 13 – 2014

1. Al Qaeda group in India on first mission attacks wrong ship

The group tried to storm an American aircraft carrier, but attacked a Pakistan navy frigate by mistake in a failed effort that left three terrorists dead and seven arrested.

2. Uganda on alert over ‘foiled al-Shabab plot’

Uganda's Entebbe Airport on 3 July 2014Security was increased at key sites in the Ugandan capital, including Entebbe international airport

The authorities in Uganda have uncovered a terrorist cell which they believe was planning an imminent attack, the US embassy in Kampala says.

It said the cell belonged to Somali Islamist group al-Shabab, but this has yet to be confirmed by Ugandan police.

The embassy earlier warned US citizens in the capital to stay at home during a police operation to uncover the cell.

3. So how did Al Jazeera cover the Hamas – Israel conflict?

4. Several people have sent me links to the newest beheading of a Western, in this case British, aid worker. The reason I haven’t thought it even worthy of a post is because the Islamic State ambassadors of good will and islamic culture have been beheading people so often that the only businesses that are doing well are knife sharpeners. For example this video of a beheading of what I believe to be a Lebanese citizen which has been faithfully intact at Youtube for quite some days now. I guess if its a Westerner then its huge news and gets taken down right away. OK fair enough then. But it should be noted that the Islamic State are equal opportunity decapitators. They behead anyone insufficiently Islamic and will allow anyone who is Islamic enough to play along side them. For now.

Of course, (paraphrasing the movie Deterrence) the thing about jihad is, you know when you lost but not when you have won. So once they run out of external enemies….

5. Saudi Arabia plans to scan fully for Ebola for Haj walkers.

6. I can’t quite recall if I have posted this already as I have had the tab open for days waiting for a chance to read it properly. I quite like Sam Harris so its possible that I posted it after a fast scan of it knowing its quality thought no matter what his POV is. But here it is again in case I didn’t. Having got a good way through it, I find it up to his usual high standard.

7. Today in Rotherham: EDL demo gets ugly. (Although almost certainly not ugly enough and not properly directed)

8.UK female jihadists run ISIS sex-slave brothels

(I must admit that islam really makes me ashamed of just how limited my imagination really is. Because I could spend a year thinking of the most horrible, depraved and unlikely dark, horrific, suffering inducing things I could and never come up with half the stuff Islam does as routinely as morning coffee)

Startling details have surfaced of British female jihadists forcing captured Iraqi women into sexual slavery at brothels run by militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), British media reported Thursday.

The Brothels, operated by the female “police force” called the al-Khanssaa Brigade, have been set up for the use of ISIS militants, according to the Daily Mirror.

Thousands of Iraqi women have already been forced into sex slavery at the brothels , with as many as 3,000 women and girls been taken captive from the Yazidi tribe in Iraq over the course of the militants’ offensive across the region, according to the daily.

(I am quite certain however that this is untrue. I am certain these are not brothels. I suspect the word this fine periodical is looking for, is ‘Harem’. As the women are slaves and get no choice, payday or selection of clients)

9. Islamic State and Syrian rebels have apparently agreed to a treaty of non-hostility.

(Must be tough when both sides understand the treaty of Hudebiya)

10. Islamic State eyeing up Egypt as its next target, experts say

After the lightning advance of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants this summer, Egyptian experts say that the extremist group – which aims to redraw the map of the Middle East – may have its eyes on Egypt. (Youtube)

“There is definitely a threat from ISIS to Egypt,” Mohammed Badr, a professor of political science at the University of Germany told Al Arabiya News, adding that the group has the country in its “line of sight.”

  1. Islamic State: Australia to deploy military force to UAE to prepare for international action against militants in Iraq

Mr Abbott said around 200 troops would be sent to the United Arab Emirates shortly, including a Special Forces contingent “that could act as military advisers to the Iraqi armed forces or to the Peshmerga”.

They would be followed by around 400 Air Force personnel, up to eight super hornets, an early warning and control aircraft and an aerial refuelling aircraft.

Mr Abbott said Australia was “not deploying combat troops but contributing to international efforts to prevent the humanitarian crisis from deepening”.

“Again I stress that this is essentially a humanitarian operation to protect millions of people in Iraq from the murderous rage of the ISIL movement,” he said, using an alternative name for IS.

“Again I stress that this movement is neither Islamic nor a state. It is a death cult reaching out to countries such as Australia.

  2. UK – ‘Wrong to use Islamic State name

Politicians and the media should stop referring to the extremist group controlling parts of Syria and Iraq as “Islamic State” in a bid to discourage Britons from joining them, leading Muslims have warned.

A group of prominent civic and religious figures have written to Prime Minister David Cameron urging him to “refuse to legitimise” the terror group by switching to an alternative such as “Un-Islamic State”.

The policy would help address the “falsehood” that joining the jihad was acceptable in the eyes of the faith, they told him, and show the vast majority of British Muslims did not support it, they argued.

Security services believe at least 500 Britons have travelled to the region to fight and the potential return of radicalised jihadis to Britain’s shores was behind the recent the decision to raise the UK’s terror threat level.

The letter has been signed by the p residents of the Islamic Society of Britain and the Association of Muslim Lawyers – as well as several imams and representatives of other groups.

It welcomed an “every growing chorus of rejection” by British Muslims of the group and its actions – including the executions of two US journalists and the threatened killing of a UK hostage.

But it said more could be done and called on Mr Cameron to help by changing the way it is referred to.

“We do not believe the terror group responsible should be given the credence and standing they seek by styling themselves ‘Islamic State’,” they wrote.

“It is neither Islamic, nor is it a State. The group has no standing with faithful Muslims, nor among the international community of nations.

“It clearly will never accept the obligations that any legitimate state has, including the responsibility to protect citizens and uphold human rights.

“So we believe the media, civic society and governments should refuse to legitimise these ludicrous Caliphate fantasies by accepting or propagating this name.

We propose that ‘Un-Islamic State’ (UIS) could be an accurate and fair alternative name to describe this group and its agenda – and we will begin to call it that.”

It appealed for a “consensus on an alternative label” as part of the debate over how to tackle the threat.

“We believe that it would send a powerful message in Britain and around the world if you would join us, as our Prime Minister, in leading a national debate to seek a suitable alternative way to refer to this group and further challenge its legitimacy and influence.

“This could be especially powerful because everybody at home and abroad can see that you are being asked to do so by British Muslims themselves who want to be clear about why this group is so vehemently rejected.

“We are sure that most British Muslims would agree that ‘Un-Islamic State’ is a considerably more fitting label for this poisonous group – and hope that our fellow citizens will join us in that.”

Sughra Ahmed, president of the Islamic Society of Britain, told The Observer: “These extremists aren’t us. This isn’t the Islam that we recognise.

“But we need to do more than just say ‘not in our name, not for our faith’. We need to work together and make sure that these fanatics don’t get the propaganda that they feed off.

“This isn’t going to fix the problem of some young people in our community being radicalised by extremists. There’s more we need to do, together, to tackle that.

“But confronting this falsehood, that it’s somehow ‘Islamic’ to go off to Iraq or Syria and murder people, is a step in the right direction.”

  3. #3 Brothels….

According to Matthew, while Jesus was fasting and hungry he was tempted in the wilderness to turn stones into food, but would not, stating “Man shall not live on bread alone”. A self control, self discipline, of a human being.

Islam is the creation of the beast. Socialists celebrate them as Sex Workers, Feminists as women’s choices, Fascists as their right to enslave females to serve them. Each justifying the trick as ‘love’ to their God in the wilderness.

  4. #1 How can you mistake a frigate for an aircraft carrier? How thick can they be?

  5. Sunday 09 14 2014 – Egypt security forces kill ‘most dangerous’ members of militant group

Seven members of Ansar Beit Al-Maqdas militant group were killed Sunday according to Egypt’s interior minister

Egypt’s interior minister said on Sunday that a joint army and police offensive in Suez governorate resulted in the death of seven members of Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis militant group, Reuters’ Aswat Masriya reported.

Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said in a press conference that police were tipped off that the Sinai-based militant group took shelter in Suez’s Al-Galala Mountain, where they launched their attacks against security institutions and personnel.

Ibrahim added that following a heavy shootout between both sides, security forces ultimately managed to kill the seven members and later identified them via a DNA test.

The minister said these members were “considered to be among the most dangerous elements of Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis,” adding that they were responsible for the Farafra and Dabaa shootings and also participated in the bombings of Cairo and Daqahliya security directorates.

The minister directed a message to the families of the victims of militant attacks saying “your sons have paved the way to stability, and the security forces will hunt down all those who use religion as a cover to their terrorist attacks.”

“The police are capable of facing the elements of evil, terrorism and outlaws,” Ibrahim said as he concluded the press conference.

A wave of militant attacks has been on the rise since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July of last year, with over 500 security personnel killed. The attacks are particularly more frequent in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

    • Good video. The Egyptians know that the firmer they appear, the more the extremists will wilt and disappear. Young Muslim males especially, need to see this war propaganda and be dissuaded from joining up with groups like ISIS, al-Qaeda, etc…. Mr. Sisi has stated that he is going to wipe the Muslim Brotherhood and their sick way of thinking off the face of Egypt. I hope he succeeds…

  6. #7

It’s so sad, really. All those scrappy-looking white English folks, literally fighting for their survival as a people. But they can’t change the fact that a flood of Muslims is still pouring into the country and having three-times the number of babies that they do, and soon the majority of street-fighting-age boys will be called, “Muhammad”, and there’s nothing anybody can do about that. When the Muslims are in the majority, and the police are all Muslim, and the courts are Sharia, all those scrappy white people are going to be nothing but a troublesome minority group, to be treated in the usual way – like the Christians and Hindus of Pakistan…

  7. #8 From what I have read the sex slaves brought up from Mexico and further south don’t get any of the money, and it is probably the same for those from the orient.
