KSTP NEWS
Victim: Mr Sawyer, with one of his children, died from Ebola in West Africa

Doctors fear Ebola victim Patrick Sawyer may have sparked a worldwide spread of the killer disease after being allowed on two flights while infected.

And tonight a desperate race was on to find dozens of passengers who flew on the same jets as the 40-year-old American.

British doctors and border officials have been warned to be on the lookout for people in the UK showing signs of the disease.

  1. Libya Islamists seize key Benghazi army base

Islamist groups have seized the army special forces headquarters in Libya’s Benghazi after days of fighting left at least 35 soldiers dead and plunged the country deeper into lawlessness.

An Islamist and jihadist alliance announced the capture of the main military base in the eastern city in a statement early Wednesday, which was confirmed by an army official.

Ansar al-Sharia, blacklisted as a terrorist organisation by Washington, published photos on Facebook of dozens of weapons and crates of ammunition it claimed its jihadists had seized from the base.

Libya’s Red Crescent said it had recovered the bodies of 35 soldiers from the base.

“Up to now we have managed to recover 35 bodies. But there are more” to be found, Red Crescent spokesman Mohamed al-Misrati told AFP.

Fighting in Benghazi has claimed about another 60 lives since Saturday, medical officials in the city said.

  2. Meanwhile the ebola virus continues to spread due to confusion between correlation vs. causation.

    http://www.smh.com.au/world/ebola-continues-to-spread-as-fear-keeps-out-help-20140729-zxlzr.html

It’s not good that people are blocking out medical aid but on the other hand it is an effective quarantine as long as infected people aren’t allowed to escape these villages in which case we may see villages of the dead just as there were in Europe during the great plague epidemics.

I can’t get over how incredibly prejudiced these BBC “journalists” are. That woman is so frantic in her desire to villainize Israel that her ears might as well be filled with epoxy resin for all the good it does trying to talk to her. Does the top brass at BBC really admire radical Islam so much? Are they so stupid as to not realize that the “victims” could have been saved by simply setting up a tent city 5-miles down the beach and getting the kids out of harm’s way? The Gaza Strip isn’t that small that you can’t just leave Gaza City. If it were my kids, I sure as hell wouldn’t let them stay within miles of an active blast zone. Duhhhh… Hamas is responsible for every one of those deaths. The horrible thing is that the interviewer actually knows that deep in her Marxist little heart…

  4. I never see the bbc constantly interrupt Muslims aggressively in interviews.

  5. I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.
Well, there aren’t actually that many wild beasts left. http://rt.com/usa/176180-earth-extinction-endangered-human/

    Better get a move on.

  6. Ebola: Liberia shuts schools to tackle outbreak (BBC, July 30, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-28576010

“Liberia’s government has announced that it is closing down all schools across the country to stop the spread of the deadly Ebola virus. Some communities would be placed under quarantine as well, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said.

Non-essential government workers will be sent home for 20 days and the army deployed to enforce the measures. The number of people killed by the virus in West Africa has now reached 672, according to new UN figures.

The BBC’s West Africa correspondent Thomas Fessy says treatment facilities have reportedly been overwhelmed in the Liberian capital Monrovia. Some wards have already filled up, forcing health workers to treat some patients at their homes.

President Sirleaf said that Friday 1 August would be a non-working day in Liberia to allow for the disinfection of all public facilities. “All non-essential staff – to be determined by the heads of ministries and agencies – are to be placed on 30 days’ compulsory leave,” she added….”

  7. 1/ “There are not many people in the international community who believe now that Israel is doing its very best not to kill civilians in what is the most densely populated part of the world.”

The premises of the entire interview are so false you could be listening to propaganda on state television in some Marxist dictatorship. In this sentence alone, who is this ‘international community?’ the BBC interviewer alludes to? Muslims burning cars in France, shouting Heil Hitler in London and attacking Jews in Calgary? Is that the BBC standard for judging Israel’s actions? If there were a way it could be said to be true, how could she know it was true? If it were and could be known to be true, might relentless propaganda like this from the BBC have played a part in fostering the perception?

If Gaza is the most densely populated part of the world, how could anyone possibly respond to terror attacks and not kill civilians? Even if Hamas were not deliberately using human shields.

The interviewer cites the conditions under which a group CALLING itself ‘Islamic Jihad’ “will accept a ceasefire offer”, as though Israel or anyone else could or should negotiate with such people or give a rat’s backside what they will or will not accept. The BBC is so far beyond the pale it’s disturbing to think that anyone in what’s left of the free world gets news from them.

  8. 2/ The video ‘provides a stern warning?’ A little trouble adjusting her level of language to the depth of horror, but not as far wide of the mark as calling mosques ‘places of worship.’

  9. Ebola: UK border staff ‘unprepared’ says union leader (BBC, July 31, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-28578596

“Border, immigration and customs staff feel unprepared to deal with people coming to the UK with possible cases of the Ebola virus, a union leader says. Immigration Service Union general secretary Lucy Moreton said her members needed more information on the threat.

Almost 700 people have died since the first case was detected in west Africa in February.

Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has said the UK government is taking the current outbreak “very seriously”.

Mrs Moreton said: “Members are very concerned. They serve on the front line; they are the first point of contact usually for people coming off an aircraft and the concern is what do they do if they’re confronted with someone that doesn’t appear well who appears at the border.

“There is no health facility at the border, there is no containment facility, and until extremely recently there has been no guidance issued to staff at all as to what they should do,” she said on BBC Radio 4’s The World Tonight.

“They are phoning us up and asking ‘what are we supposed to do, how do we spot this, how do we protect ourselves?’, and we can’t answer that for them just now.”

Mr Hammond said earlier the UK’s health services had the experience to deal with the threat posed by the Ebola virus…..”

  10. ‘It will get worse’: Ebola outbreak cripples west Africa, threatens beyond (CNN, July 31, 2014)
    http://edition.cnn.com/2014/07/30/health/ebola-american-aid-workers/index.html

“Hundreds dead. Many more infected. Pervasive fear and denial, challenging authorities in west Africa who are trying to assess and address the Ebola crisis.

    And it’s only getting worse.

That’s what government and humanitarian officials said Wednesday, as they struggled to corral an outbreak that has crippled parts of Liberia, Sierre Leone and Guinea and stirred palpable concerns that it will spread around the region and the world.

“The matter has reached a crisis point,” Liberian Information Minister Lewis Brown told CNN’s Richard Quest. “… The dire prognosis is that it will get worse before it gets better.”

The dangers are so real that some humanitarian organizations are pulling out to protect their own….”

  11. #4 I wish that that the US had an open border program for the Jews of Europe, they need every sanctuary they can find.

#5 some Doctors are talking about a global pandemic, it is starting to look like they may be right.

    • 4/ Always working on Diaspora issues. That’s a pillar of the creation of the State. Doesn’t have to be destination Israel, the mandate is to help Jews in peril everywhere. Sometimes all they need is security help and a watchful eye (recent example, Ukraine).

      • I have heard about that, I wish we had some program like that for the Christian refugees, their going from the middle east to France is probably going from the frying pan into the fire.

      • The “Jewish Agency” pre-dates the establishment of Israel. There used to be little blue cans near every cash register at delis, dry cleaners, everywhere Jews might shop. All over the world. Volunteers are everywhere too.

As far as Jews leaving France, it’s anguish. But the numbers leaving are large and growing.
