1. Pakistani terror group swears allegiance to Islamic State

 A Pakistani terror group has become the first in the region to break ranks and declare allegiance to the Islamic State that has seized power across Iraq and Syria.

It represents a breakthrough for Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as he tries to win support for his caliphate, potentially extending his influence into South Asia and bolstering his challenge to al-Qaeda for leadership of the global jihadist movement.

2. Iraq rebels ‘seize nuclear materials’

(I suspect this is far more dangerous to them than to anyone else, as people overall, not understanding that these materials probably pose no real danger to anyone, will, much like the hippies of the 1970s when they ruined the space program due to demands that plutonium be banned from probes, allow us to properly attack these people because they have nuclear materials)

In a letter seen by Reuters, Iraq’s envoy to the UN said nearly 40kg (88lb) of uranium compounds were seized.

The letter appealed for international help to “stave off the threat of their use by terrorists in Iraq or abroad”.

But the UN atomic agency IAEA said the material was “low grade” and did not pose a significant security risk.

3. Muslim wife murderer prefers ‘death before dinner’

It always comes back to the dinner table with this guy.

The 75-year-old Pakistani immigrant convicted in Brooklyn of beating his wife to death because she served him lentils instead of goat should get the minimum sentence, his lawyer argued Wednesday — because the lack of Pakistani food behind bars will be a hardship. […] “There is no witness and no complainant in this case .?.?. they should bring some proof,” he said, adding, “I’m in jail for 40 months, and day and night I recite the Koran.” […] Prosecutors said he beat her to death as she lay in bed, most likely starting the attack as she slept. “When her body was later examined by the Medical Examiner’s Office, it was determined that she had been struck more than 20 times about her head, face and arms,” DA Ken Thompson said in a statement after the sentencing.

4. As I have stated numerous times, I try and avoid posting on matters of internal US politics unless it crosses this site’s field of interest. With the Obama admin, that becomes less black and white. But the IRS scandal is clearly a matter of leftist totalitarianism and attack on democracy and now that evidence of misdeeds is starting to appear, it needs to be known. If people want to add more on this matter in the comments, especially links to new evidence either way, it would be appreciated.

    Has anyone explained to Mr. Obama that by letting Abu Bakr Baghdadi and his pals win the way they are he is only encouraging people from around the world to jump on the Islamic State bandwagon? Has anyone explained to Mr. Obama that the re-forming of the “Caliphate” is the single most important ‘next step’ for the baddest-of-the-bad guys?

    The Carrier USS George Herbert Bush is, if memory serves me correctly, the most powerful fighting machine in world history, and it’s parked within easy range of the Baghdadiites, yet ISIS continues to prevail as Barack Hussein Obama continues to do nothing. Hey! Has anybody noticed that Obama’s name sounds a little…well…I don’t know…suspicious?

    On Wednesday Mr Maliki said the Kurdish provincial capital Irbil was a haven for jihadist fighters from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Isis).

    A spokesman for Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani said Mr Maliki “had become hysterical” and urged him to step down.

    Registration on the internet and by SMS was temporarily suspended following a “pirate attack”, it added.

    The commission, known as Isie, did not say who was behind the hacking.

    The elections in October and November will be the second in Tunisia since long-serving ruler Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali was ousted in 2011.

    The country has been hit by turmoil since then, with the moderate Islamist Ennahda party – which won the first poll – battling to assert its authority.

    “A U.S. drone strike killed at least six militants Thursday in a Pakistani tribal region, according to Pakistani intelligence sources. The drone attack took place in North Waziristan, where the unmanned aircraft fired missiles at a house and a vehicle. Foreign Office official Tasnim Aslam condemned the strike, saying that such acts undermine the nation’s integrity and sovereignty.”
