  1. Kerry: It is not appropriate to invade a country and at the end of a barrel of a gun dictate etc

Kerry: RT has challenged what was self evident previously – it is not appropriate to change the borders of a European state..

First, I didn’t know that RT was driving strategic policy. RT is over the moon. They have been given an enormous propaganda boost, handed to them on a plate. Perhaps Secretary of State Kerry meant Russia, not RT.

As for the rest – America has been invading, bombing, killing innocents and others in the hundreds of thousands, destroying the political, social and physical infrastructures of nations, that now they are on the path to even worse catastrophes in the future.

But the American media laps it up when they are told by their President ” Mission accomplished”.

  2. The pronouncements of Kerry clearly shows him to be clinically insane . The whole of the US ,EU and UK is in denial .

  3. the Doctor wrote: The pronouncements of Kerry clearly shows him to be clinically insane .

Far be it from me to question what is obviously a clinical judgement. It just seems that the entire political class of the West are idiots. Consider Joe Biden, Hague, Hollande, Kerry, NATO sec general Fogs something or other, and last, but by no means least, Chuck Hagel.

Sometimes, normal facial expressions gives a good indication of the mental capacity of person.

Brilliant video showing the real situation on the ground in the Ukraine, as it proves that Kiev couldn’t care less about their own troops, as they had to ransack the anti Kiev checkpoint for food. The comments made by the anti Kiev guy is interesting.

  5. DP!!! Kerry has been a Marxist since collage when you put that fact into the equation all sorts of possibilities open up

I don’t know what Kerry is trying to do but unless he is trying to make Russia and RT more powerful ( which is possible) he is failing.

  6. A positive move. Very assertive without being militant. Maybe sanctions etc will work – or at least effectively punish and disuade Putin from continuing this course of action.

  7. Notice… It is always a handful here, a handful there. I remember back in the eighties, during the Soviet campaign in Afghanistan, something like this used to be monthly news. (Something like an Eastern Bloc progress report.) The Soviets had caught a handful Jihadists and the end of their enterprise was near. Then it was another handful and a big stash of weapons was found as well. (Obviously it was to be expected that without those weapons their little Jihad cause would eventually suffer serious drawbacks.) Then it was a mythical group of twelve, operating in the mountains around some major city, which had it coming hard and their remaining brethren were about to get crushed.soon, too. And so on and so forth… I really hope we are not making the same (or very similar) mistakes here. And if we are, the sooner we wake up the better.

Ten British women – including two teens – are fighting jihad in Syria after joining a group so violent even al-Qaeda has disowned them (dailymail, Apr 25, 2014)

“Ten British women are fighting in the civil war raging in Syria. The women are thought to have joined their husbands in the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis), a hard-line Muslim faction so extreme it has been disowned by al-Qaeda. Among the jihadists are two teenagers from Portsmouth, a Surrey woman, two Londoners and five from the north of England….”

  9. Wrath0fKhan After the Soviets pulled out of Afghanistan the conservatives warned that if we didn’t keep a presence in Afghanistan and work with the pro democracy people the jihidists would start attacking the west. The libs fun of the people doing the warning and those libs who are still in public office are now working against the west defending itself.

  10. Richard if you saw that movie, I forget what it is called now, it was some hedonistic devil-may-care Democrat hot tubbing Senantor that said that and the GOP admin that was too stupid and cheap to spend a few dollars on text books to save Afghanistan from Islam. I wish I could remember the name of the movie, TED Maybe? Or is that about a stuffed bear

  11. Explosions at Iraq election rally in Baghdad ‘kill 25’ (BBC, Apr 25, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-27165504

“At least 25 people have been killed in Iraq as a series of blasts targeted a Shia election rally in Baghdad. Several people were seriously injured in the attack, which took place at a campaign rally for the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq party.

The attack comes less than a weeks before Iraqis are due to head to the polls in parliamentary elections. Iraq has been enduring the worst unrest since it pulled back from the brink of civil war in 2008.

Three bombs exploded as people left the rally, says the BBC’s Nahed Abouzeid in Baghdad. The first two blasts were caused by truck bombs and the third by a roadside bomb…”

“Iraqi PM Nouri Maliki has told the BBC that Saudi Arabia has “clearly interfered” in Syria and in Iraqi internal affairs. He said he believed Saudi Arabia was facilitating the entry of foreign “mercenaries” into Iraq, worsening the sectarian violence.

Mr Maliki said the violence in Syria was causing “security problems” in Iraq’s Anbar province. He also denied that Iraq was part of an Iranian-led Shia “axis” in the region…”

  13. Iran petrol prices surge as subsidies cut (BBC, Apr 25, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-27152960

“Iran has cut state subsidies on petrol in a move that saw prices rise at midnight by up to 75%. Reports said Iranians rushed to fill up their cars before the deadline.

The government of President Hassan Rouhani hopes the move will bolster an economy battered by Western sanctions. Petrol in Iran is still among the cheapest in the world but analysts say the increase will be unwelcome in a country where a quarter of adults are jobless or under-employed.

The subsidies have been blamed for making petrol cheaper than bottled mineral water. The cost of subsidised petrol – which is available in limited amounts to each motorist – rose from about $0.16 (£0.09) a litre to $0.28 a litre at midnight…”

  14. UKRAINE – OSCE observers detained in east Ukraine rebel town: ministry

Kiev (AFP) – Seven members of an OSCE observer mission in Ukraine were seized by rebels Friday and being held in the eastern flashpoint town of Slavyansk, the interior ministry in Kiev said.

“Near the entrance to Slavyansk, unknown persons stopped the bus with 13 passengers including seven OSCE representatives, five representatives of the armed forces of Ukraine and the driver of the vehicle,” the ministry said in a statement.

It said the passengers were taken to the occupied security services building in the town and the rebels were demanding to speak with “the competent authorities of the Russian Federation”.

The Vienna headquarters of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe did not immediately confirm the information to AFP, but did say that all the observers in its main mission on the ground in Ukraine were accounted for.

  15. Richard

I have no idea what our leaders are up to. If Kerry was a Marxist, he must have been a low echelon one. Marxists are supposed to be clever at deception. Or maybe our leaders are very clever, but are good at acting stupid. It must be a cunning and orchestrated plot, as it involves so many actors. Oscars all round.

  16. From what I gather, Ukrainians and Russians have close similarity in culture , religion, and possibly even language ( I dont know the last). They also have close family ties.

To me it seems that this is a bitter family quarrel, with slights going back hundreds of years. But one thing I know from experience – it is bad policy for foreigners to interfere in a family quarrel. Sooner or later, these two will get together, kiss and make-up, till the next round. In the meantime outsiders who interfere are going to get their fingers burnt.

Both Russia and Ukraine will have to live with each other. We know it, and I’m sure they know it. What is happening here is that both are trying to get a new modus vivendi. It happens in families, as we all know.

  17. “DESO DOGG LIES DOWN WITH DOGS…DOESN’T WAKE UP”

Another day, another dead rapper in Syria.

A German former rapper who joined jihadists fighting in Syria has been killed in a suicide bombing carried out by rival fighters, jihadist sources and a monitor said Tuesday.

Denis Mamadou Cuspert, who rapped under the name Deso Dogg but took on the name Abu Talha al-Almani in Syria, was reported to have been killed in a suicide attack Sunday in an eastern province.
He was a member of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and was reportedly killed in a double suicide bombing carried out by Al-Nusra Front, a rival jihadist group that is Al-Qaeda’s Syria affiliate.

  19. RT – Russian planes have not entered Ukrainian airspace

Russian military aircraft have not breached any state borders, including those of Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry has said. Ukraine’s acting defense minister has also retracted claims by Kiev that Russian jets “violated Ukrainian airspace seven times.”

[…]The Defense Ministry spokesman called on Pentagon officials to stop “spreading unverified ‘facts’ through the media,” saying that “it does not at all help de-escalate the situation in Ukraine.”

[…]The Ukrainian coup-imposed acting defense minister, Mikhail Koval, on Saturday told journalists that no violations of state borders by the Russian aircraft or troops have been recorded.

“Four [Russian] transport airplanes Il-76 were flying along our state border but they did not cross the borderline,” Koval was quoted as saying by Interfax-Ukraine.

  21. Eeyore I know the movie but not the name, in the movie Hollywood ignored the way President Reagan did all he could for Afghanistan and the Senator ran interference in the Senate.

Yucki DP, look up the winter soldier protests in the early 70s, Kerry was still a Navel officer when he took part in those protests and then went to Paris as a private individual to negotiate with the North Vets. His actions all said he was a Marxist and has been one since. At the time of the protests he threw what he then said was his decorations over the White House fence, he has since claimed they were other peoples.

He has citations for his medals hanging on his office wall and often shows his medals, since he has two or three citations for each medal most vets think he threw his own medals over the fence and received a dishonorable or less then honorable discharge then when he was in office Carter ordered the discharge to be upgraded to honorable and the medals reissued. This is the only scenario we can think of that would give him more then one citation for each medal.

  22. Raw: Military Helicopter Explodes in Ukraine

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry says a grenade fired from a launcher caused an explosion in a helicopter at an airfield outside the eastern city of Kramatorsk, wounding a pilot. (April 26)

  23. German TV. ( ARD ) April 10 2014 – ( Eng sub ) Who were the Maidan snipers? Ukraine.

  24. I never thought of Kerry as ideologically motivated. I just thought he was an enemy to everything our country stood for. In his case it was literally high treason.

Of course I didn’t know what “communism” meant. How many did? [Or do even now?] I saw it as just another expression of the adolescent rebellion, anti-war, flag-burning, hippy-happy gestalt. *

When I volunteered at the veterans’ hospital, we used to measure things on the “Jane Fonda Scale”. As in “5% Fonda” up to “x-multiple Fonda”. Never did I imagine we would have a POTUS with a Fonda-exponential. But it isn’t surprising that Kerry’s just a heartbeat away.
    ______________
    * When you called him a communist, Richard, my first thought was, “How could he be a communist when his daughter went to my godchild’s prep school?

  25. Communism is alive and well on all US University campuses, some of them are almost totally controlled by Marxists of one stripe or another. I remember Kerry so well because of his protests while still serving on active duty, that alone was enough to get him a dishonorable discharge since active duty soldiers are forbidden from openly engaging in political activity. This was set up to prevent the military from telling people how to vote, any military involvement in the political arena is a short step from the military ordering us to vote for the people they support.
