  1. Ukraine was always a mean vicious country I am sad to say.

The film the Fixer was based on events in Kiev.

Based on a true story: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beilis_Trial The Ukrainian version of the Leo Frank story in the US falsely accused of murdering a small girl.

Alan Bates lost the Academy Award to Cliff Robertson for Charly. Alan Arkin also lost as well as Ron Moody for “Fagen” in Oliver Twist as did Peter O’Toole.

  2. Looks like this years is going to be pretty “entertaining.”

“A group of anti-government Turkish prosecutors have illegally wiretapped thousands of prominent figures, pro-government media have claimed. Targets reportedly included government ministers and business leaders. The prosecutors, who are said to be loyal to US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, have denied the accusations. Mr Gulen has been accused of running a “parallel state” in Turkey, controlling groups of police, lawyers and politicians. He denies the claims. The latest allegations came in two pro-government newspapers, Yeni Safak and Star. The Star reported that “Gulenists” had wiretapped more than 7,000 people since 2011 on the pretext of trying to uncover terrorism plots…”

  3. I think that Trudeau’s little gaff is going to be his undoing. You can’t have a world leader who is obtuse enough to make a mistake like that – it’s just too embarrassing – and you just know it won’t be the last time it happens. He’s more Margaret than he is Pierre. I think he’s finished…

  4. I always thought it strange that Pierre sent Margaret to be treated at the Allen Institute in Montreal, by the father in law of Brian Mulroney. Mulroney never liked Trudeau. What does it all mean?
