  1. Thanks for that tape! Only seeing the short excerpt of the interview before, it seemed that Amina was drogged, but seeing this longer piece it looks quite different. My god, how the islamists have poisoned this country (Tunesia) in such a short time. Tunesia used to be a little more civilised, yes I say CIVILISED, than some of her neighbours, they even did not have polygamy – but now they seem to have gone down on their knees. In such an athmosphere of fear (and justified fear) the father of that girl is rather courageous – and, believe it or not – even “tolerant” – at least towards his daughter.

  2. Yes, I agree with the above remarks, the girl and her father are having to choose their words very carefully, to avoid becoming more of a target, but their naive support for an ideology that oppresses them, and always will, not just when taken to extremes by fundamentalists is sad.

  3. What would have happened if Rome had not destroyed Carthage. What if they had skipped the 3rd Punic War and found a way to merge the Senates?

If you merge the Senates & try to keep “centrifugal” forces from splintering society. North Africa would have been much stronger.

Then again this is almost as bad as a pipe dream. The Carthaginian Senate was pretty bad. The Senate told Hannibal to fight. They had no clue, because they had never bothered to get a well rounded education. That is including military science & the trades. But sometimes you cannot tell the elites anything because they know it all.

In the lead up to the 3rd war Carthage was no threat & did not intend to threaten. You have to figure that intermarriage would go a long way.
