    I’ll bet he’s helping police with their enquiries. Hydrochloric acid is a precursor chemical in manufacture of the drugs methamphetamine and methaqualone. It can also be used (in combination with peroxide and acetone) in the manufacture of the improvised explosive Triacetone-Triperoxide (TATP) that was used in the July 2005 terrorist bombings in London. Acid may also be used for “honour” attacks but for that it is generally the more readily available sulphuric acid used in car batteries.
    It’s not illegal to possess hydrochloric acid but storage and transport in concentrated state is regulated.
