Mursi to urge Obama to free blind sheikh in first U.S. state visit

Many highly dialed in and intelligent analysts claim that the whole reason behind the choreographed riots of 9/11 2012 was to apply pressure on the US to release ‘The Blind Sheikh’. In fact, some argue that the US ambassador to Libya was killed in a botched attempt to kidnap him for trade for Abdul Rahman, (TBS). It seems that the Muslim Brotherhood is getting ready to make another push for his release.

If the Obama admin does accede to this request, any ambiguity as to it’s allegiance or ambitions should be settled in my opinion. It will at least, settle any residual doubts.

The release of an Egyptian blind sheikh, jailed in the United States for the 1993 World Trade Center attack, will be urged by Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi during his upcoming visit to the U.S., the leader said on Monday.

The announcement follows his pledge, during his presidential campaign earlier this year, to free Omar Abdul Rahman. The preacher is currently serving a life sentence and the planned request for his release appears to be gesture, by Mursi, to Gama’a al-Islamiya, a Salafi group.

Sheikh Rahman is the spiritual leader of Gama’a al-Islamiya, which was involved in the 1981 assassination of President Anwar Sadat but renounced violence in 1997. The group has entered mainstream politics since former President Hosni Mubarak was toppled.

In September, U.S. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland stressed there was no plan to release him following his trial and conviction.

Mursi told CNN in an interview aired Monday that he was hoping to travel to the United States before the end of March 2013, and he planned to raise the case of Sheikh Rahman with U.S. President Barack Obama.

Qatar to aid Egypt with extra $2.5 billion to boost ‘critical’ foreign currency reserve levels

CAIRO (AP) — Qatar announced Tuesday it was doubling its financial aid to the Egyptian government with a new injection of $2.5 billion, underlining its role in propping up Cairo’s foreign currency reserves and highlighting its strong ties with the Muslim Brotherhood leadership.

The help from Qatar has been crucial to the government of President Mohammed Morsi, who hails from the Brotherhood. Qatar has assisted Egypt with $2.5 billion in deposits since August, after Morsi won in the country’s first free presidential election.

Qatari Prime Minister Sheik Hamad Bin Jassem Al Thani said his nation will loan Cairo an additional $2 billion and transfer another $500 million outright grant, bringing its total assistance to $5 billion.

The aid comes as Egypt faces an economic crisis.

[…]Qatar has already agreed to invest $18 billion in Egypt over the next five years and its QInvest company purchased a majority stake in Egypt’s biggest investment bank, EFG Hermes.

Qatari assistance to Morsi’s government comes as the oil-rich Gulf state faces scrutiny over its ties with Libya’s Brotherhood group, funneling weapons and funds to the anti-Moammar Gadhafi forces during that nation’s civil war last year.

Additionally, Qatar has been a key supporter of the Syrian opposition, and particularly its Brotherhood-aligned members.
