The religious ruling, which followed a similar lecture during Friday prayers at Australia’s biggest mosque, was posted on its Facebook site on Saturday morning.

The head imam at Lakemba, Sheikh Yahya Safi, had told the congregation during prayers that they should not take part in anything to do with Christmas.

Samir Dandan, the president of the Lebanese Muslim Association, which oversees the mosque, could not be reached for comment on Saturday.

The fatwa, which has sparked widespread community debate and condemnation, warns that the “disbelievers are trying to draw Muslims away from the straight path”.

A sign of the times: I live about 25 km from that anti-Australian, anti-Western mosque and hear of this ghastly, if not surprising “fatwa” via you brave Canadians! I’m surprised that the SMH, a leftist and usually islamophile broadsheet even reports on this increasing encroachment by islam in our society.
When there were many gang rapes of young Australian girls by muslim packs of thugs here in Oz a few years back, the head thug aka the iman of that mosque (Sheik Hilali) blamed the girls for these very atrocious rapes and said that the way these girls dressed made them like “uncovered meat to a cat”. At that time he was the head iman of Australia.

Would I be labouring the case if I said: I am D.I.S.G.U.S.T.E.D.?

  2. Rita says:

Oh, and another thing: some of the more media savy representatives of islam in Australia might protest and do taquia all they want and say that this is not representative of islam, ha! – this Lakemba mosque is the MAIN mosque. So spare me the crocodile smile and fake protestations….

  3. Rita says:

correction: Hilali was the GRAND MUFTI OF AUSTRALIA.

  4. Richard says:

The Moslems are feeling strong when they start issuing fatwas like this one.

  5. Tadpole says:

But Rita, why shouldn’t the Muslims feel strong in Oz? Every school and university in the land teaches that the West is evil – the source of all colonialism, sexism and racism in the world. The majority of us apologise at every opportunity for the “crimes” of our culture, like the “genocide” involved in discovering and settling the land. Such widespread self-hatred is an admission of defeat for Western culture, so why shouldn’t the Muslims feel strong? They ARE strong – they have confidence in their culture and we despise ours.

  6. Wrath0fKhan says:

But of course it is not all Muslims… And there are no actual (Islamic) religious reasons to issue such fatwas and to behave accordingly.

Do you really think, dear ignorant tools of Allah, that non-Muslims will keep buying this nonsense indefinitely?

  7. Richard says:

Kahn they think the left will maintain enough power to let the Moslemsn gain enough strength to take over through military force, the left thinks the Moslems will aid in their attempt to destroy western culture and allow the Moslems to take over, both sides think they will win after our freedom has been destroyed

It wasn’t all Germans who began the Nazi party in Germany and went on to commit genocide against the Jews, Gypsies and Russians and start the second world war. It only takes a few to rule over the “silent majority” who soon take power and begin wars. This is the tip of the iceberg in Australia. Just look what is happening in England, France, Holland and other European countries where the radicals are using the system of tolerance to get a good foothold and preach division and hat. Yes they are all good people with a few ratbags amongst them, let us excuse them. If they don’t celebrate Christmas, then they shouldn’t take the holidays or the overtime. I do not see Australian’s condemning Ramadan or bagging any Muslim beliefs (if we did we would be charged under some form of racial vilification). I don’t see any politicians out condemning this Islamic Fatwa against Christmas. These radicals can say what they want or if pulled up will complain their human rights are being violated or some such other rubbish they seem to come up with to justify their views. I wonder how many of them are collecting welfare from the government?? I say if you don’t like it here go back to where you bloody well came from and leave us peace loving tolerant people alone.

  9. Richard says:

davee500 I hate to disagree with you but the ones you are calling radicals are the ones following the teachings of Mohammad, the radicals are the ones who are trying to live peaceful with their neighbors and who aren’t committing acts of jihad. By mislabeling the Islamists you are making it easier for them to commit their acts of terror and aggression.

  10. davee500 says:

Martin: This is great, this depicts the idiocy within Islam. No wonder they fight with us as well as themselves. Go back to the stone age and live. If you don’t like it in Australia, f*#k off back to an Islamic state and love. Don’t bring your hate to Australia.
