Ikhwan calling muslims from all over to fight in Syria

First, this link from MEMRI (h/t Don L) details the Ikhwan’s shout out for martyrs

Muslims From U.K., France, Hungary, Germany, Balkans, Sweden, Chechnya, Chile Joining Fight Against Syrian Regime – As Revealed By Algerian TV Documentary

On November 15, 2012, the Algerian channel Echorouk TV posted a documentary video on its YouTube channel featuring a number of muhajireen (foreign fighters) who had come to Syria to fight the Bashar Al-Assad regime.[1] Those featured included Muslims from the U.K., France, Hungary, Germany, the Balkans, Sweden, and Chechnya, as well as a recent Muslim convert from Chile who died while fighting in Syria. The video depicts how warmly foreign fighters are welcomed and integrated into the local resistance groups, which admire them, particularly those from Western countries, for choosing to leave their comfortable lives to fulfill what they see as the duty of jihad against the Syrian regime.

MEMRI has previously reported about the presence of Chechen fighters in Syria,[2] a presence recently alluded to by Dokka Umarov, emir of the Caucasus Emirate (CE).[3]

And then there are an increasing number of videos appearing showing non Syrian and even non Arab Muslims fighting against the Asaad regime for the Muslim Brotherhood/Al Qaeda.

(As the evening progresses I would wager more will appear in the comments as well. Thanks Martin)

Turkish Mujahadeen in Syria?

Here are some ‘allies’ doing the old Nazi salute at 1:17. Not sure where they are from. We have posted videos before of what appear to be Balkan muslims in Syria as well and certainly ‘British’ ones.

  1. Obama Recognizes Syrian Opposition Group

In a diplomatic shift, President Obama said today his administration now formally recognizes the newly-formed, leading coalition of Syrian rebels who are fighting to topple Syria’s embattled President Bashar Assad.

“We’ve made a decision that the Syrian Opposition Coalition is now inclusive enough, is reflective and representative enough of the Syrian population that we consider them the legitimate representative of the Syrian people in opposition to the Assad regime,” Obama said.

The announcement, made during an exclusive interview with ABC News’ Barbara Walters, grants new legitimacy to the rebel group and marks a new phase in U.S. efforts to isolate the Assad regime.

“It’s a big step,” Obama said of the decision. The United States follows Britain and the European Union, both of which last month recognized the Syrian opposition group.
