Mishandling Morsi

Front Page Mag:

Only a week after being praised by the Obama Administration for his supposed helpfulness in ending the fighting in Gaza between Palestinian Hamas terrorists and Israel, Muslim Brotherhood (MB) Member and Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi apparently decided to cash in his praise “chips” early.  Most prominently, President Morsi made himself immune from the Egyptian Supreme Constitutional Court’s oversight, thereby essentially assuming dictatorial powers over his nation.  Less prominently, one of his appointed judges convicted eight persons, including seven Americans, for their “blasphemy” towards Islam.  Included in this group were well-known Florida Pastor Terry Jones, who has burned several Korans in the United States, and Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, one of the people behind the controversial American film “Innocence of Muslims.”  So far, the Obama Administration has lodged no complaints (and here) with the Egyptian regime over either action.

It should be shocking to the Obama Administration, and Americans, that a foreign nation can sentence our citizens to death for the “crime” of free speech.  Free speech, and the First Amendment, is supposed to be sacrosanct in the US.  Our Founding Fathers were certainly very supportive of it.  President George Washington said, “If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.”

  1. All they did was sentence some blasphemers to death. It’s not like they did anything offencive like the Briton who called obama names.
    Remember this
A 17-year-old teenager from Bedfordshire has found himself with a lifetime ban from the US, after it was found that he sent a threatening email to President Barack Obama.

Luke Angel from Silsoe, sent the email while drunk and called the president abusive names after watching a documentary on the 9/11 attacks.

After the email was sent, the FBI intercepted the message and contacted police in the UK about the incident.

    Teenage kicks

Speaking about what happened, Angel explained: “My parents aren’t very happy about it.

“The police who came round took my picture and told me I was banned from America forever.”

He also told the Sun: “I don’t remember exactly what I wrote as I was drunk. But I think I called Barack Obama a prick.

“It was silly – the sort of thing you do when you’re a teenager and have had a few.”

  2. The treatment of a Brit is what normally happens when you insult a Democrat anointed one, as for Morsi Obama will never feel shame, he knew this was going to happen and is applauding.

  3. US sending 20 more F-16s to Egypt, despite turmoil in Cairo

Instability in Egypt, where a newly-elected Islamic government teeters over an angry population, isn’t enough to stop the U.S. from sending more than 20 F-16 fighter jets, as part of a $1 billion foreign aid package.

The first four jets are to be delivered to Egypt beginning Jan. 22, a source at the naval air base in Fort Worth, where the planes have been undergoing testing, told FoxNews.com. The North African nation already has a fleet of more than 200 of the planes and the latest shipment merely fulfills an order placed two years ago. But given the uncertainty in Cairo, some critics wonder if it is wise to be sending more top gun planes.

“Should an overreaction [by Egypt] spiral into a broader conflict between Egypt and Israel, such a scenario would put U.S. officials in an embarrassing position of having supplied massive amounts of military hardware … to both belligerents,” said Malou Innocent, a foreign policy analyst at the Cato Institute. “Given Washington’s fiscal woes, American taxpayers should no longer be Egypt’s major arms supplier.”

The U.S. government ordered and paid for the fighter jets for Egypt’s military as part of foreign aid for Egypt back in 2010, when Hosni Mubarak ruled. The fighter jets were supposed to be delivered in 2013, and delivery will go ahead as scheduled even though Hosni Mubarak has been removed from power and replaced by Mohamed Morsi, who led the Muslim Brotherhood before becoming Egypt’s president.

“The Obama administration wants to simply throw money at an Egyptian government that the president cannot even clearly state is an ally of the United States,” Rep. Ros-Lehtinen said.

The $213 million order, which is paid for by U.S. taxpayers and is part of Egypt’s foreign aid package from America, had to be approved by lawmakers in Washington. While the basic F-16 has been a military workhorse for top air forces for more than 25 years, the cockpit electronics are constantly updated and the models Egypt is getting are the best defense contractor Lockheed Martin makes.

  4. Morsi, is the bastard child of (and far worse than) Mubarak – a common phenomena in the Middle East, where a brutal semi-secular dictator is replaced by an even more brutal Islamic one. We should have learned our lessons by now, but of course, we haven’t!
President Obama gets worse by the day. Whatever benefit of the doubt that you may give him (that he’s stupid, but not deliberately treacherous) gets thinner by the hour.
I am becoming increasingly convinced that Obama is deliberately working for the Muslim world and is intent on destroying the United States. This is not sheer ignorance on his part, nor is it well-meaning naivety. Obama is a plant, a cunning and manipulative seditious bastard who entered the White House with evil intentions. One day this untrustworthy spy will be exposed for all but the mentally feeble to see, and when he does, I hope that the bastard is impeached, arrested and tried for the war criminal that he is!
Obama should be removed from office immediately. He should not be president of the U.S.A., he should be behind bars, or better still, in front of a firing squad!

  5. Unknown attackers fire at Cairo protesters, nine hurt

Nine people were hurt when unknown attackers fired at protesters camping at Tahrir Square in central Cairo on Tuesday, according to witnesses and Egyptian media, as opponents and supporters of President Mohamed Mursi’s plans to vote on a new constitution geared up for a day of street demonstrations.

  6. Bob I have thought that for a long time, if he was just incompetent (as many claim) he would screw up and do some good for the US every now and then, but he hasn’t, everything he has done has hurt the US.
