The number of terrorist attacks each year has more than quadrupled in the decade since 9/11, according to a study launched today.

The Global Terrorist Index showed that in 2002 there were 982 separate attacks. By 2011 that had risen to 4,564.

Researchers suggest the U.S. military interventions pursued as part of the West’s anti-al Qaeda ‘war on terror’ may have made terrorism worse.

It also said it was impossible to prove whether the policy made the U.S homeland safer.

Despite the increase in attacks in the past ten years, the number of deaths in terrorists attacks has fallen.

It peaked in 2007 at the height of the Iraq war when 10,009 people died. That figure had fallen to 7,473 last year.

Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and Yemen have been the most affected by terrorism in the past ten years.

  1. Personally I believe this is important for a number of reasons I like to post my thoughts again.
A couple reasons why it is important the public senses a general less violent world then normal they are not looking for what is threatening them. If they are less threatened they are more willing to allow people in that isn’t willing to adapt to our world.

    Trying this again:

Once in a while we need to step back and see the over all picture. We see these crimes in the streets and wars Islam is waging on other Muslims trying to take power in the Middle east. the +2000 terrorist attacks and so on.

Even with all these problems we have less of a chance of becoming a victim of a violent crime then anytime in history.

My question are we living in the most peaceful time in history? For the last 150 years we have been dealing with extreme leftists committing domocide this has greatly decreased. Domocide by the left has always been much worse then what we are seeing today.

  2. Interestingly – just had

Interestingly we just had a lecture from the Commander of a mentoring task force in Afghanistan this morning. He is of the opinion that their job of finishing the Taliban has been hampered by the wrong policies. This is clearly the case.
Meanwhile the Islamists are not going to be fond of my novel: http://www.amazon.com/Soul-Saviour-Mr-Ross-Lloyd/dp/1481119591/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1354612670&sr=1-2&keywords=Soul+Saviour

They are going to like the follow up even less. May earn me a fatawah perhaps?

  3. Bush made a mistake by labeling this a war on terror, that leaves things open for distortion, right now Obama is declaring the war over even though terror attacks are up. Ever since WWII the Presidents have been saying that if we allow the enemy to change our lives they have won, we won WWII by keeping the civilians in the fight and ensuring they knew why we were fighting. By down playing the war and the danger we have allowed our home grown traitors room to attack the war and hamper every effort to win.
