‘Follow the Islamic way to save the world,’ Prince Charles urges environmentalists Daily Mail.

Prince Charles yesterday urged the world to follow Islamic ‘spiritual principles’ in order to save the environment.

In a high-profile speech, the heir to the throne argued that man’s destruction of the world was contrary to the scriptures of all religions – but particularly that of the Islamic faith.

He said the current ‘division’ between Man and Nature had been caused not just by industrialisation, technological development and the relentless pursuit of economic growth, but also by our attitude to our relationship with Nature – which goes against the grain of  ‘sacred traditions’.

Charles, who is a practising Christian, spoke in depth about his own study of the Qu’ran which, he said, tells its followers that there is ‘no separation between Man and Nature’  and says we must always live within Nature’s mean and limits

‘From what I know of the Qu’ran, again and again it describes the natural world as the handiwork of a unitary benevolent power,’ he said.

‘It very explicitly describes Nature as possessing an “intelligibility” and that there is no separation between Man and Nature, precisely because there is no separation between the natural world and God.

‘It offers a completely integrated view of the Universe where religion and science, mind and matter are all part of one living, conscious whole.

‘This suggests to me that Nature is a knowing partner, never a mindless slave to humanity, and we are Her tenants; God’s guests for all too short a time.’

The prince was speaking to an audience of scholars at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, which attempts to encourage a better understanding of the culture and civilisation of the religion, of which he is patron.

When he accepted the role back in 1993 Charles gave a landmark speech about the need for better understanding between Islam and the West, which still has resonance today.

Yesterday the theme for his lecture, to mark the centre’s 25th anniversary, merged religion with his other favourite subject – the environment.

The hour-long speech saw Charles once again berate Man for the damage he is doing to the planet, saying: ‘Many of Nature’s vital, life-support systems are now struggling to cope under the strain of global industrialization.

‘How they will manage if millions more people are to achieve Western levels of consumption is highly disturbing to contemplate.

‘The problems are only going to get much worse. And they are very real.

‘It is an approach that acts contrary to the teaching of each and every one of the world’s sacred traditions, including Islam.’

He went on to argue that as well as adopting ‘green’ scientific and technological developments, people of all faiths needed to radically alter their whole approach to life on the basis of spiritual teachings such as those central to Islam.

‘Whichever faith tradition we come from, the fact at the heart of the matter is the same.  Our inheritance from our creator is at stake,’ he said.

‘It will be no good at the end of the day as we sit amidst the wreckage, trying to console ourselves that it was all done for the best possible reasons of development and the betterment of Mankind.

‘The inconvenient truth is that we share this planet with the rest of creation for a very good reason – and that is, we cannot exist on our own without the intricately balanced web of life around us.

‘Islam has always taught this and to ignore that lesson is to default on our contract with Creation.  ‘

  1. That giant-eared clown couldn’t have said anything more cowardly and ignorant at the same time… I’ll reproduce here a comment by DP111 from the New English Review on the recently unveiled ad campaign in the United Kingdom of West Porkistan, “inspired by mahound.com”:

I believe in degrading the environment till it is a desert.- so did Muhammed. Just look at any Muslim country, and see its environmental condition. the only ones that have improved are the oil rich nations – as they pay others to do the work. I think it was Churchill who said that where the Arab goes, follows the desert.

I’ve seen it with my own eyes… Mahoundians are like locusts on a wheat field when it comes to the environment too (yep, I say the environment TOO because nothing, except for the mosques that don’t become targets of sectarian bombings, can ever survive their utterly destructive touch.) And there is no greater proof of that than what one can see in a comparison between what the Israelis have done to their country’s emvironment, which used to be nothing but a patch of desert and a wasteland typical of Dar al-Mahoundianism, and the endless barrenness of any place where the black-stone worshippers rule and live.

  2. Ah, Charles…I like Charles, but Charles… You see, we’re not important enough to be that misinformed. When we need to find something out, we have to look it up ourselves, but if you’re the Prince or Tony Blaire or George Bush or Barack Obama or that weird little euro-guy who heads the EU, you just pick up the phone and call in the worlds’ leading expert in the field to come and explain it to you. Then John Esposito and Karen Armstrong drop by and blow more smoke up your behind than an Aussie brush fire, and your education is complete. You see, it never occurs to these top brass types that they’re being lied to. I mean, it wouldn’t really occur to me. Nice trick on the Islamist’s part-gotta hand it to them.

  3. Charles is not the brightest jewel in the crown. Now it seems that someone has successfully brainwashed him into belief in a fairytale Islam that has never been and remains non-existent. It’s a desert subsistence ideology of a warlord. It makes nothing grow except rocket launchers and reduces everything it touches to waste.

A classic example was the profitable Jewish greenhouses in Gaza. They were bought by California philanthropists and gifted to the Palestinian people when Israel withdrew from Gaza. Within days those greenhouses were destroyed. The Palestinians would rather sit on rubble than touch anything “tainted” by Jews, work hard and support themselves.

Rumor has it that Charles is already an occult Muslim. This speech spouting ridiculous fantasy from an earnest plodder lends credence to the rumor and means someone has coached his weak brain to believe their propaganda rather than what is before his eyes in the real world.

  4. The dear prince has drank the Kool-Aid. Another sickening, apologist, whining, butt kissing, PC speech from this out of touch ‘Prince’ who more than likely could not hold a real job. Charlie boy has got it all wrong the message for the practitioners of the’ Religion Of Peace’ must be assimilate or vacate, do what you want in your home or mosque but in society and public act like the rest of us, for they are no better then any of us.

  5. So how does he explain away the Palestinian-destroyed Israeli-built greenhouses in Gaza? Or the fact that of all Middle Eastern countires, only Israel has reclaimed any substantial land from the desertification that has been occuring there for over 1,000 years?

I have lost all respect for the man, now, not that I ever really had much to begin with. But I gave him a fair chance.

Now he is merely one more high-profile dhimmi leading the western world on the way to a Muslim-created death.

I, for one, will do everything possible to stop such a fate and re-educate the Prince of Wales on what Islam really represents.

    May the west prevail.

  6. But Charles is just trying to be a decent chap and say some nice things about Isam, I mean, isn’t if OK to be nice? It would probably knock those ears right off his head if he could hear what they were thinking beneath all the “good will”. Wham! No ears.

  7. Thomas Paine wanted to persuade his readers of their human rights and democratic equality, and he wanted them to abandon the discredited ideas of hereditary rule, rank and privilege when he wrote “Common Sense”, including the following tidbits:

“But it is not so much the absurdity as the evil of hereditary succession which concerns mankind. Did it ensure a race of good and wise men i would have the seal of divine authority, but as it opens a door to the foolish, the wicked, and the improper, it hath in it the nature of oppression. Men who look upon themselves born to reign, and others to obey, soon grow insolent; early poisoned by importance; and the world they act in differs so materially from the world at large, that they have but little opportunity of knowing its true interests, and when they succeed to the government are frequently the most ignorant and unfit of any throughout the dominions.”

    and

“Wherefore, hereditary succession in the early ages of monarchy could not take place as a matter of claim, but as something casual or complimental; but as few or no records were extant in those days, and traditionary history stuffed with fables, it was very easy, after the lapse of a few generations, to trump up some superstitious tale, conveniently timed, Mahomet like, to cram herdeditary right down the throats of the vulgar.”

  8. Question for those Tories or those that are conservative in the UK or understand this.

Why do conservatives in general back the Monarchy? This has been puzzling me for a while.

I can see backing a good king/queen but if this guy come to the crown why would a conservative support this idiot?

  9. yes, it gives a new meaning to “long live the queen”

but really why do conservatives back the Monarchy in general?

  10. Conservatives dont. Monarchists do. I can understand some of the rational myself although I am not a monarchist and in fact am a classical liberal.

I suspect there is value in at least one layer of government that doesn’t have to bend with the winds of fashion and can hold a view and policy without fear of losing an election to a public easily swayed by idiots like Al Gore and Chicken Littles of all kinds.

  11. The trouble is, old chaps, that the Royal Family has become left wing. If they were to get involved in anything now, it would be nonsense like global warming or Israeli Apartheid Week, or save the baby seals. The iron of Queen Elizabeth is gone. Now it’s just more “Entertainment Tonight”. Sing: “da dat dut da da daaaaaaa (du du dut duhh, duh)………

  12. Here’s a sarcastic comment from the Daily Mail website:

Prince Charles is right. Britain should become more like Iraq and Afghanistan, Morrocco, Yemen and the Sudan. The environment is a real priority in those countries.

Unfortunately, Britain IS becoming more an more like those places in every conceivable way.

  13. On this idea Islam is the Mecca of mother earth and her environment.

Why is it that Islam will not take care of sewage? Remember the rivers of Iraq were loaded with raw sewage they just refused to clean the systems. In Jeddah Saudi Arabia this year there were 500 people killed/missing when they drowned from raw sewage dumping onto the streets. In the US their ‘encampments’ you can smell sewage from miles away.

The list goes on what is it about Islam that they have no concept of the environment and raw sewage?

  14. well it seems that chaz has really outdone himself this time, the dim witted inbred eff wit. This should be taken as proof he is unfit to reign, as king he will also become ‘defender of the faith’, ie church of england! not islam! The crown should go from liz straight to william imho.

  15. doc gonzo:
I don’t know this one is about as funny to me as what Obama did yesterday when it comes to how to deal with environmental issues.

The white house yesterday proposed a to legalize whaling
get this … in order to save the whales.

Can you imagine what the left will think of this when they hear about it?

  16. Either he’s been got at by influential muslims in ways we know nothing about – or he’s seeing what a mess the UK is in and is trying to get muslims onside. After all the way he must see it, they’re living in HIS country.

But the result is he ends up looking like a prize clown sycophant , sucking up to a rowdy minority who want nothing less than Britain to be part of an extended caliphate. This only encourages those morons. Most of the petrochemical pollution over the last 80 years has come from the willing sale of hydrocarbons by oil-rich muslim countries. They , like others, care less for the environment than their own pockets.

Thanks to the study and tireless efforts by non-muslim scientists in many disciplines and the readings from equipment made also by non-muslim scientists around the world – Charles is able to pontificate now on the obvious – i.e. on the evils of sh^&ing in one’s own nest

  17. A wise man would have kept himself far away from anything that has something to do with the islam and the remotest sympathy therefor. The islamic way to save the world often comes close to killing the opposition first, then later think about the consequences.

And if I might add to all this the simple fact that almost all of the oil industry is very heavily polluting the environment. Most Arab countries are islamic, most Arab countries are knee-deep into the business of drilling and selling the traditional organic fuels. The Arabs nor the muslims give a shit about the fact that: first those fuels were mend to keep the fires of hell to burn forever and ever. And second: burning organic fuels that were deep into the earth for many millennia will heat up the surface of the earth.

But as I have said, the islam doesn’t care. Selling the oil now is later when the time comes that the Arabs and the muslims have to be punished till everlasting eternity, the fires of hell will be only half lit, of maybe not lit at all! Lucky bastards! Now the are selling the fuels of hell, now they get loaded rich, and now the make hell on earth come clovers for everybody by making the world stinking and hot. And when the time comes that they have to get what they deserve the fires of hell will be tempered so that their torment will only be bearable and not like hell at all!

Doing this the islamic way is getting loaded with money now, pollute the rest of the world and keep yourself from getting properly punished in the hereafter.

  18. It’s no use sucking up to the mohammedans, Charles. Not you, but your son will become imam of honor of the islamic state of Great Britain, a few years from now.
